Love this thread. Your goals inspire me. I am keeping my mine short and will add more and I go along and conquer each one. First on the list is cutting out the sugar. Huge for me as I swear I am addicted to candy and cookies.6

Awesome!! Welcome I just wanted to share: my hubby has had a horrible addiction to sugar his whole life. Last month he asked me to help him get it under control so he could start losing some weight. Every time he craves something sweet, he now grabs a low fat yogurt! He is down 20 lbs from Thanksgiving!! (We've also adjusted his diet to low-carb.) I'm so proud of him bc that sugar addiction is no joke!
Happy you've joined us5 -
Since this is a new year, and I love new beginnings. I know that I am a binge eater, and I struggle with this all the time. The holidays again showed me how hard it is to break this cycle, as old habits can come back so quickly. So I hope I don't bore you guys with this, but again, I am going to try and post each day the changes needed to break the cycle of binge eating.
I am again reading the book, the Beck Diet Solution: Train your brain to think like a thin person. Each day, for 40 days, they give steps to take to train our brains to rethink the way we eat.
So here is Day 1
Record the advantages of losing weight. Write on index cards all the reasons you want to lose weight. Post these cards throughout the house, and read them often throughout the day. These cards are called the Advantages Response Cards. So whenever you want to eat something, get out these cards and read them[/b]. Read them at daily times each day, until these reasons are so engrained that you will remember them, and be aware of them.
Here is my Advantage Response Cards
Why I want to lose weight
1. wear nice clothes
2. feel better
3. be in control of what I eat
4. not be embarassed to how I look
5. wear pretty clothes
6. more energy
7. keep up with the grandsons
8. age gracefully! I will be 67 in July -- I want to do as much as I can to stay as healthy as I can, for as long as I can!

On May 16, 2016, I began my weight loss journey at 324 pounds and at August 15, 2017 I was 96 pounds down and weighed in at 227pounds. On 12/20/2017 I went to the doctor and I weighed 250. Up 23 pounds. For some reason I haven't found my resolve as I had before in 2016. So, when I found this thread I began reading and JUST FOR TODAY I will:
Take in less than 20 carbs. I am on KETO
I will Log all of my food today.
I will weigh in a week from today.
I ask for your support. I can't do it alone. Thank you all - we can do this!!!
You have made wonderful progress - and should be very proud! I hope you keep coming back on here - the support is wonderful, and you'll meet the nicest people!5 -

And that’s all you need! It’s the start of a year so tackle one thing at a time. Maybe even have that tackled by the end of January. And then add a couple more in Feb and so on and so forth!
Doing a lot at once can be very overwhelming!
And sugar is so hard to stop
My partner has a serious problem with chocolate!
Every day. Chocolate chocolate chocolate.
He ate all his selection boxes from Xmas then started on mine! And tried to hide the evidence!
He’s rubbish at hiding evidence though lol I always find it!
Good luck!
Look forward to future posts from you and I hope you get far in 2018!6 -

Do you have a goal weight in mind?
You’ll find nothing but support here!
Always come on and post on your most difficult days because those are the days we can pick you up and keep you on track!8 -
So on last year's thread I was asked by Joan for a picture of my daughter's wedding dress and the app wouldn't let me.
Hey @joan6630 , I figured it out! I think. I can post pictures to threads if I do it through the website but not through the app. How silly is that?
Now let's see if it works.

Ran 1.5 miles today. Took the time to charge up my ipod and uploaded some Crosby stills and Nash. Southern cross! Boomers forever. Felt really good7

1. log all food Did not do so good though with food --- too many leftovers sweets here.
2. concentrate on drinking at least 8 glasses of water Didn't get all 8 glasses in, but working on this! I have to drink 4 glasses of water now before I go to bed though
3. go to the gym with husband in the afternoon. (Being that the temperature is suppose to be -8 in the morning, hoping by the afternoon is is warmer) Just didn't happen .... a lazy, but relaxing day! It is -6 degrees out, so we didn't even leave the house!

5. get back on here tomorrow ...... be accountable
JFT, Tues, Jan 2
1. log all food
2. concentrate on water - 2 glasses with each meal, 2 inbetween. Total of 8 glasses water
3. read my Advantage Response cards to remind myself of why I want to lose weight
4. read one chapter of Simple Abundance
5. work on just 1 shelf in my sewing room Time to declutter!!!
6. work on business taxes. I am SO far behind on this
7. get back on here tomorrow - be accountable3 -

- Take my starting measurements
- Drink half my weight in oz of water (87.5) 64 oz so not too shabby!
- Journal every bite
- Stay in the GREEN
- Aldi's run for this week's healthy snacks Couldn't get myself to go out in the -20 degree weather!
- Meal plan and prep for the week
- 30 minutes of activity: Mixture of treadmill and Body Groove Going to hit the treadmill in a minute.
- Begin lifting hand weights to work on strengthening and toning arms. This is supposed to be good for lymphedema also, which I have in my right arm and it has flared horribly over the past month because of overuse. This needs to become a habit. 10 reps of each
- Work on quilt Didn't work on actual quilt but did get my sewing nook set back up, ready to go.
- In bed earlier. Need to establish a better bedtime routine so I can have a smoother morning routine! Plan to hit the sack tonight around 9.
Just for Tuesday, 1/2/17- Get up with alarm. No hitting the snooze button!!!!!
- Journal and stay in the green
- Hydrate, increase water intake from Monday
- Read Advantage Response cards x5
- Read Beck Diet Solution...
- 30 minutes cardio; 10 reps light hand weights
- Smile. Be kind. One random act of kindness.
- Prep for tomorrow by packing lunch, setting out clothes.
- One hour before bed, unplug and write in gratitude journal, Simple Abundance Chapter and begin "Read the Bible in One Year"
I know I always get excited and have so much resolve at the beginning of each year, and then I end up fizzling out. I sure hope I can stick with it this year!!!
(Posting this tonight because I have an early morning meeting and don't want to not have time to post tomorrow!)4 -

I know this kinda belonged in the old thread but here is my recap of 2017. 2017 had good points, although I am looking forward to a new year.
Five good things that happenned in 2017- I had a marvelous trip to Key West in March to celebrate my brother's 60th birthday.
- I experienced a total solar eclipse with some of my favorite people.
- My son had a healthy daughter - my first grandchild.
- My daughter was in a bad car accident and walked away from it.
- I lost 31.5 pounds over the course of the year, going from obese to overweight.

-
Another catch up item from last year:I am in for the 5 pounds by the end of the year challenge. My starting weight is 194.
It is not what I expected but I will take it. I really slacked off the last three months, but I did not lose control. Staying flat and not gaining weight is a victory. And I lost over 30 pounds in 2017. Here's to 2018!

Beck Diet Solution: Day 2
Day 2 of the Beck Diet Solution: Training your brain to think like a thin person (ending the binge eating)
Pick a diet plan you wish to follow.
Whether it be low carb, calorie counting, etc. This was easy for me, since I am just counting calories. The book says to pick 2 plans -- one to use as a backup. But for me, I am just trying to count calories.4 -

Welcome - are you a teacher? I am getting ready to leave a school district job and one thing I will miss is the winter break days off. I do accounting and systems work, but my husband is a teacher and he will still have the long winter break.
@bcTRA
Nice work - beautiful dresses.
@Bex953172
You are always such a great cheerleader! Thanks for keeping it up.
@joan6630
Although I have left the burden of new years resolutions behind me it is hard to not set some new goals at the start of a new year. It is Day 1! (or it was - it's Jan 2 as I post thi@bcTRAI3 -
I did the cards this morning and they're set beside my morning waking up space. Regarding day 2, counting calories pretty much works for me plus there are multiple accounting methods to use. Thanks.2

My earlier post lost most of the text Grrrr.
Anyway here's how I went today- Get up at 5am - Done, I went for a walk and then did some weight training.
- Weigh and measure myself - I did weigh myself but I couldn't find my tape measure this morning.
- Book in for a fitness assessment at my local gym - Check - Going tomorrow afternoon for the fitness assessment which will include all of my measurement and weight etc. Then I go again the next day and they explain the exercise plan.
Tomorrows commitments:- Get up again at 5am for another exercise session.
- Attend my fitness assessment
- Drink more water
- Make my job less of a priority. The past six months it has been a lot higher on the priority list. Family and health are now going to come first. I will leave the office on time and I will leave my computer at work rather than bring it home and work until late at night.
