I actually just moved to South Carolina from Cocoa Beach. I had three liquor stores within walking range to my house. That was very tempting lol. I successfully completed dry January 2016 there but temptation got me after that. I love the sunshine state though!1 -
One more day down. Surprisingly, craving free...which is good. This is going much better than 2016.4

Week 1:-
Mon, Tues & Wed- alcohol free
Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun - NOT alcohol free, not MUCH alcohol but, alcohol nevertheless!
It really is habit with me, I'm afraid, can't seem to help myself.
Will try to do better in week 2.
NOT a very good start.5 -

@karenwatkins22 you can do it!2 -
We are officially 1/4th of the way! Hoping the next 3 weeks go smoothly.5

So far so good! Only was tempted once, was in line to check out after a long run. The checkout line was right next to the craft beers3

Yay! 1/4 way!
I am successfully on day 8 of Dry January without any slipups. I've had about 2 serious cravings (once when I saw Bailey's Almande in my fridge, and once when I noticed a chilled bottle of rose in the fridge), but otherwise it's actually been remarkably easy. Planning on extending this into February if all goes well, which it OBVI will because I'm crushing it.
Go team!!5 -
I'm on Day 7, with no fear of temptation ... I'm very happy with this choice. I've been reading This Naked Mind by Annie Grace, although I feel so sure of myself at present, I probably don't need the extra motivation ... but it doesn't hurt and it is very informative.3

Went to the pub today for a work assignment and had alcohol free beer!!!3

I stumbled at my first big challenge - Saturday night in the pub. Met up with friends who had been drinking all day and thought one or two wouldn't hurt. Ended up drinking until 2am, and wiped out the possibility of doing anything on Sunday. I think abstaining during the week made the hangover hit harder than usual.
Firmly back on the wagon now, and have set a reminder on my phone for next weekend, to remind me how terrible I felt!4 -
Long weekend w/o booze, but damn... you get a lot accomplished when you don't have a cocktail in your hand by 1pm! Keep chuggin' along! (maybe "chuggin'" is the wrong choice of words here)6

Congratulations to everyone who 1) has made it thus far, 2) has not quite made it, but is willing to keep trying. We are, as @thiswillhappen points out, 7/31ths of the way there.
And, don't think of it so much as giving up alcohol as adding more capacity for chocolate.3 -
This weekend was hard. I performed in a 24 hour musical Saturday and really wanted to celebrate and relax after, but I didn't. Went to eat with my husband and chose water. Luckily, he's not a drinker, so that helps, but I fear for the day I go hang with friends at a sports bar! I'm just going to avoid that until February! We can do this!3

I've made it so far with no alcohol! Next week might be tricky, as I am going on vacation, but I think I'd rather be able to hike and explore comfortably and full of energy rather than feeling sick and tired from drinking.5
-
I'm definitely on this boat! No alcohol for this gal... I'm starting with cutting it out for January and I'm going to see how long I can keep it up. Wish me luck guys!6
-
Day 8 and still rolling. Good work and luck to all of you still hanging in there!3
-
Day 7 for me. A little restless this evening but I’ve got this!5

Why do I find it easier to abstain on Mondays than on Fridays? I'll never know.
Anyway, the herbal tea has been a go-to for me. So many choices, but those with anise or turmeric seem particularly helpful for some reason. I also like rooibos chai.5 -
Another big success today. Went for pub lunch with my gf today as we tend to do at least once a week. Normally that's a minimum of one drink for me, and sometimes more depending what shift I'm working. Today I went without and had a straight ginger ale. In fact not only did I have that I had a salad as well rather than my normal beer + burger deal!!
Surely I must be healthier and thinner now!7 -
@dkabambe GREAT WORK!!2
