@polskagirl01 My guess is a Fragile Ego Boost and sounds like he had some type of sponsorship deal. That's why I like the concept of the Ultras with Random Checkpoints on the side of a mountain with only one trail in/out of the area.
There was an athlete a participant in the Great White North Triathlon who mysteriously started to lose her Timing Chip off her Velcro leg band, not lose the Velcro band but just the chip. So the organizers did 2 things, they added a hidden timing chip on the inside of the Number Tag that gets attached to the back of the seat post on the bike and added a new random location secondary timing point on the cycle portion ( hidden by a vehicle on the shoulder/ditch ). When they took the time differential between the timing points and the distance ( 2km ) she was doing 110km/hr = posted highway speed for vehicles on an uphill course section = suspicious. She was DQ and all her records except for her first year were DQ.
A non running week so far, I was supposed to be on a Ski Vacation, a tad cold outside.
Ski Hill closed due to the extreme danger of frost bite and hypothermia if you got injured on the hill.
The community 60 miles/100km north of me. Note the Windchill factor.
Just to add to it we have no hot water at work due to a distribution control valve and circulating pump failure ( frozen and broke ) which flooded the utility room. So no dreadmill runs at work since we have no shower facilities now. GRUMBLE GRUMBLE.5 -
@skippygirlsmom -- lol 60 degrees and school is closed!
@juliet3455 - OMG - those temperatures! Surely no one is allowed to leave the house! No hot water!!!

@lporter229 while I do look forward to running in winter storms, and try to schedule my run so I can run in them, I don't do tempo runs in the winter. On the contrary, when footing is dicey, I slow way down. That's my fall prevention plan. I would love running in 3-5 inches of snow, but I wouldn't be in a hurry about it.0
-
@7Lenny7- I love running in a snow storm too. Especially in the evening and with nice, big flakes of snow falling. I also usually take it nice and slow and have no predetermined distance or pace in mind. On the other hand, I hate having to work around the weather to try and fit in a particular run just because it's on the training schedule. I have Monday off work so that is always a fall back option too.1

Rain cleared out and this morning's run was a very windy. Temperature was 43 F with a feel like of 36 F.
Expo today for packet pick up for tomorrow's race. I think this is going to be the coldest Louisiana Marathon weekend on record. Really wishing I had just registered for the 5K and not the Quarter because of the temperatures, but will probably not regretting running the 6.55 tomorrow. Temperature at start time is 31 F with a feel like of 23 F. on the plus side, it is going to be sunny. I may do gear check and pack a heat sheet I saved from St Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend and use it.
@juliet3455 - After seeing those temperatures maybe tomorrow's start won't be so bad!
23.14/75 miles

@bride001 good luck tomorrow
@ddmom0811 the temp has already dropped to 41 here. I know they honestly could have gone at least half day. We are closing at noon1 -
My plan was 5 miles last night, then I realized my son had a 2 hour basketball practice later in the evening so I though I'd go for 10. Our warm spell was over and it was -12F windchill. Normally that's not a problem but for some reason last night I was struggling. My legs weren't having it, my lungs weren't having it, and because I kept having to stop to check the map, my pace wasn't having it. I was getting the chills before my run was over..WTH! I ended up with 6.4 miles with 30 minutes left to go before practice was over. I guess I'll look at the positive and be happy it was 1.4 miles more than I originally planned.

LOL on the beer run.
Not running today but spending a lot of time walking the terminals of the Atlanta airport. You could get a decent run in here if you were prepared. It's apparently 2 miles from one end to the other. Anxious to get to Key West but my flight was delayed so I'm having to chill for a bit.
@bride001 good luck on your race tomorrow. Hopefully you can do layers.3 -

@bride001 – Good luck to you on Sunday also!
It looks like Winter is back on for most of us. It was a good little break this week to have warmer temps. It was lightly raining for my 5 miles this morning but nothing major. Supposed to change over to snow around midnight tonight. I need to get a long run in tomorrow but it will depend on the road conditions. Apparently, I forgot to stop my Garmin this morning after the run. Driving down the road afterwards, I hear my watch beep and see fastest mile or something to that effect pop up. Need to figure out how to erase that one mile or next year at this time I will be wondering why my pace slowed so much.
Upcoming Races:
February 3 – Strawberry Plains Half Marathon
February 24-25 – Gasparilla Amber Challenge (15K & 5K on Saturday; Half Marathon on Sunday)
