What was your first “I’m getting fat” realization?

I would go to a store for new clothes - which I used to really enjoy - and always grab the XL and XXL if it was available. I tried to convince myself that the sizes were getting smaller and "what is wrong with these sizes?" etc etc etc... and always picking the dark colors because they were more slimming.
I wore one pair of super stretchy size 18 capris all summer long and convinced myself I was an 18 when in reality I was probably more like 22-24 but had stretched them out so bad.
And then - a family pic while on vacation. Once again I was wearing size 18 stretchy capris, and an "oversized" XL beach top that was fashionably loose. When I saw that pic, my jaw dropped, and I almost cried. My gosh. That one did it for me.

My clothes were getting pretty snug, but I just chalked it up to all the working out I'd been doing and kept thinking that it was muscle gain. It wasn't until I went to the doctor and weighed in at almost 20 pounds more than my previous weight the year before (which was also at least 10 pounds more than the previous year), and some reflection over the next few weeks, before I realized that it wasn't muscle gain and I needed to look carefully at my food intake, not just working out.2

First was when I couldn't fit into jeans borrowed from my stepmom (size 14), but most powerful was realizing it's uncomfortable to sit in the lecture seats at my school (which i have to sit in often)1

I was at six flags and my thighs were super tight when getting on some of the rides. I thought they were just making the seats smaller until I looked over and saw a large lady having the same problems. Yes, that was when I officially realized my fat a** had to shrink. Plus I was just wearing those hanes stretchy pants everywhere and any type of jeans felt uncomfortable.1

I've always been overweight, but when 4x was threatening to become 5x, I knew I had to do something in order to save my own life. I was a heart attack waiting to happen.4

I lifted my jacket one night and looked at my huge bloated belly spilling over my jeans.
I do that a lot actually and it's very distressing when I can't stick to counting calories and I keep over-eating. =3=1 -
Having to roll to my side first to then push myself up to out of bed... Yup! That did it for me!!3

Pictures of myself...my head looked too small for my body6

It actually wasn't me. It was watching my elderly father rolling around on the floor unable to get up asking for me to push him to the couch and help push him up on it so that he could at least sit after falling down. He didn't take care of himself from around my age onward and after watching all of the health issues he has gone through this past year I refuse to end up in the same situation.
It was my own personal ghost of Christmas future moment.

I was hanging out with my brother and sister in law and made a comment about my face being fat. My brother laughed and said, “it’s not your face that’s fat.” That confirmation from him that I was fat helped me lose the first ten pounds. I lost a bit more after and I’m still working on the rest, but at this point I’m not really fat anymore, so im signing up for a tough mudder to keep me motivated.7

It took forever to get to that “realization” point..I knew I was overweight...but was in denial to the extent of it. It wasn’t until I looked back that I realized just how big I actually was..during the time I didn’t realize I was so overweight..which was silly..I knew how much I weighed.
My sister was on weight watchers..I joined her in November of 2014..just for kicks..I found this site quit WW and started on my own calorie-counting and lifting and have stuck with it since. I wish I and started taking control of my health sooner, but I have stuck with it and that’s good enough for me.5 -
I've always been overweight, when I got into high school I was in the obese catagory, but the straw was when I hit my heighest (known) weight of 240. I'm down 56 pounds and have shown my before pic to someone and they've said I don't look like the same person ♡.8

I've lost the same 5+ stone many times in my life, but the trigger for three of those times I remember well. The first was when I knocked my 18-month son flying halfway across the room with my backside when I bent down and he was behind me and I hadn't realised. The second was a picture of me on a camel in Tunisia (I know, a camel ride photo is the law) - I so felt sorry for that poor camel. The last time was this time - I had come through cancer treatment and realised if that *kitten* came for me again, I had to be fit, healthy and strong to fight it. Nearly 6-stone down now, feeling better than ever and even though I have around a stone to go, have kept it off so far longer than at any other time.18

I knew I was putting on weight but I continued bingeing and eating whatever I wanted. I needed a new coat so ordered one in my usual 'big but normal' size, and it was too tight. I was gutted.2

Really noticed it when I had pictures taken without me knowing. Saw how I looked from different angles.3

For me it was a photo my Aunt took of me at a family event. I was horrified when I saw the pictures. It’s strange because when I looked in the mirror everyday it didn’t seem so bad but the photos honey lol....off guard photos tell the truth!9

I came out of the womb at 10 lbs 8 oz3

Seeing a photo of myself, realizing that I've been blocking out the image of what I really look like when I look in the mirror. My image of my self is really messed up3

I’ve been overweight my entire life but my most recent wake up moment was when I went to a con with some friends, got a pic with one of my fav actors and could barely stand to look at the picture because I looked so awful.
