Went out for another run over lunch today. Was going to do 6 miles, but decided to make up for cutting my run short yesterday and did 7 instead. It was a beautiful day. A tad warmer than yesterday at 45F (7C), sunny and 15MPH winds. I think this was my most consistently paced run of all time:
Mile 1 - 10:30 (had to wait at a stop light)
Mile 2 - 10:08
Mile 3 - 10:10
Mile 4 - 10:10
Mile 5 - 10:11
Mile 6 - 10:11
Mile 7 - 10:14
Hoping to get in another 8 miles this weekend to put me past goal.

01/18/2018 - 4.0 miles
01/19/2018 - No run yet
Tuesday afternoon started our Ice apocalypse with a wintry mix and then snow. South Louisiana people do not know how to drive in the ice - lots of accidents. Our interstate was shut down for about 110 miles in both directions. Too dangerous to run on icy roads on Wednesday for this South Louisiana girl. Got a run in on Thursday after the ice melted.
My kids were out of school all week - first for the MLK holiday, then for the ice apocalypse. They will return on Monday.
It is suppose to be around 40 F tomorrow morning for my run. As my husband said yesterday, it is a strange feeling when 40 F feels warm in South Louisiana.

@_nikkiwolf_ thanks for the suggestion. I've bought online from decathlon before and visited their stores both in London and France so will give that a go. Thanks everyone else, I'd not heard of mohair being hypoallergenic before, it's only ever been scratch to me, and excited to try alpaca. My real problem is lanolin, which in addition to being in wool products is also generally in all creams marketed as being appropriate for eczema....
Also, warmth is less an issue. I shoot flames from my body when I run (except my butt which is ice). Particularly my feet. So I'm more interested in keeping dry than warm.

@_nikkiwolf_ nice review of the bin bags. Good to have clarification on sizing, maybe you could give it a waterproof rating, years strength and breathability test?2

So, my running page just posted an Ultra race located on one of my big-group running routes. I am looking at this race and thinking how insanely crazy boring this would be. How do the Ultra courses usually work? 48 hours of 2 mile loops? For $130? What? Do Ultras usually run in short loops for 48 hour time spans?

@MobyCarp Bravo on your win!
@_nikkiwolf_ Good luck in your race! Your new dress sounds very au courant._nikkiwolf_ wrote: »@Orphia All the best for your race as a pacer tomorrow! Does your parkrun always offer pacers, or is it something you offered to do for some runners you know?@Orphia How do you get to pace? I think I'd like to do that sometime! It sounds like fun.
@hjeppley
One of the parkrun volunteer roles can be pacer. It's up to the parkrun and local demand as to whether pacers are offered on any particular Saturday.
We got new pacer vests (with the pacing times on them) and the discussion was happening and someone asked for a 30 minute pacer this week.
I volunteered to do it since I've been getting better at running according to a certain pace/time (due to a parkrun FB group's weekly "predict your parkrun time" competition I do every week) and wanted to try it.
I've just got back from doing it. I ran it in 29:40, and 3 people who said they were using me got PBs! Very happy.

You can add another data point to your survey. It doesn't happen to me every single night, but it does when I've had high sodium intake, at certain points in my cycle, and other times when I notice water retention (e.g. carb binge, new workout routine, etc).
Yes, that's what I was going to say. It doesn't happen all the time.
I've woken up a couple of times during the night and had to loosen my band.
But usually it's fine.3 -

Just a short run today. I was making a list of all the races I want to do this year. It's like a mile long. LOL6 -
Sorry to only be catching up now, been an intense couple of days!
@Orphia congrats on the secretary position and the pacing- busiest woman in the biz
@MobyCarp way to go Runner of the Year!
@sarahthes the weather has been lit, hopefully you enjoyed your capri run!
@MNLittleFinn I'm gonna have to stay on top of your blog now while you train for Superior. Rock on man, a very well deserved lottery win!
So I got in to LSU. There were 55 or 65 spots in the 100 mile I believe, registration opened at 8:00, I had my credit card processed and my reg confirmed by 8:01 (yes I'm neurotic lol). I was the 42nd entrant...holy eff. All distances sold out in a few hours, I am expecting this race to be epic
While I was trying to come down off the stress of race before the race I checked my email and found out that I landed one of the major sponsorships I went for this year- I'll be able to tell you who I'll be running for in 2018 as of Feb 1st
Last decent length long run before I start winding down against the qualifier in February. Feet don't fail me now

Well, I did it today! I went straight to the gym after dropping the kids off, used the rest room and set off. Boy my legs felt heavy the first few miles, but then I started feeling better. There were several sections with ice and crunchy snow so I had to be careful not to fall, I’m just glad it was still frozen and my feet stayed dry.
I finished in just under 2hours and 4minutes. I had plenty of time to shower and pick up the kids from their half day of school.
2 hours and 4 mins for HM is a great time! Well done!1 -

Yeah, it is not every night, and some nights are worse. Like once I woke up and felt like my hand was falling asleep from the tightness, and yet a different night it did not seem to get tighter at all.
So good, this is sounding very normal then.0 -
So no run today.
Instead, I dropped my son off at some school function and took my wife to Red Robin, followed by Starbuck. I am both 1500+ over my calorie limit for the day and much lighter in the wallet, so I guess that evens out right?
Either way, going to call this a win and hope the weather forecast for tomorrow is right. Plan for a 3 to 4 hour run in 41 degrees...5 -
@bride001 yeah, Dad was quite surprised, frozen, and generally unpleased that his NOLA home was colder than his Wyoming home. Doesn’t happen often, and certainly doesn’t happen often at 20 degrees. He said he didn’t leave the house until he had reason to believe at least some of the Ice was melting.
While I am on the topic of Louisiana weather, and in a running thread, what do you know about the red dress race? Dad thinks we should run it this year for entertainments sake.. I have suggested nothing sounds entertaining about combining running with Louisiana in August...2 -
