Do I need to lose weight?

Am 5'6. In 2013, I was almost 200 pounds and a size 12. After dieting and exercising, I was 117 pounds and a size 0-2 by 2015. I'm now 148-151 pounds (according to every scale I've tried including the doctor's office) but I haven't changed in size at all. At ALL. But I'm too close to technically being overweight and want to get back to 117. I feel like I'm in a pickle. Help?

You're doing an excellent job of hiding your invisible fat deposits! I.e. where are you planning on finding 30lbs to lose

At 5'6" and 117 lb you were in a size 0-2. Now at 148 lb what size are you in?
How long were you able to maintain at 117? When you look at yourself nude in a mirror, do you like what you see?
My wife is 5'6" and doesn't exercise. You could very well have more muscle mass than her and be perfect at 148 while she'd have some excess fat at 148.7 -

Life is personal so do what you want to do BUT to be honest you already look skinny so if anything losing fat should not be on your mind.2

Carrying excess weight isn't healthy in the long term (plus diabetes and heart conditions run in my dad's side).4 -
Are you at an unhealthy weight level?
There is no extra benefit by being more normal than normal weight. It is a range because hey it's a range... and the whole range has similar characteristics for the population of people who are in it. Still doesn't really say anything about you as an individual.
I also note that current research seems to indicate no particular problems in the low overweight range as people get older and extra problems closer to the underweight range.
Do you have a physical once in a while? Is your doctor concerned about anything?2 -
If your weight has changed abruptly by 30lbs or you have swelling anywhere....see a doctor, of course....but otherwise... hmmm... you look slim and trim?3

As several others indicated ... I don't see you needing to lose. My wife did lose a lot of weight and when she got to 135 her doctor demanded that she get a Dietitians help to arrest the decline.1 -
You definitely do not look like you have weight to lose, at least from your photo there. Did you run bulk cycles to gain muscle and get up to that weight? Or did it just happen suddenly? What does your doctor say?

Just weight and BMI can be misleading in some cases, e.g. where people have very high muscle mass. I recommend taking some measurements and looking at other common health metrics like hip to waist ratio, or estimates of body fat percentage (these are typically pretty crude, but may still be a useful guideline) to assess your health more meaningfully. Simply from those photos, it doesn't look at all as if you need to lose weight, but the measurements I mentioned should give you some objective reassurance - or, ask your doctor.0

Are you 100% sure that you were 117 lbs in 2015?
Is it possible that was an inaccurate reading (low batteries, scale on carpet, ect) and you haven't really gained that much weight?

I used the same scales I did now. That includes being weighed at the doctor's (have been going there since 2014).1 -
Without a hardcore weightlifting regimine, it seems unlikely to be muscle, so the only thing I can think of is possibly visceral fat? But that would be a lot of visceral fat without any visible subcutaneous so that doesn't make sense to me either. I would talk to your doctor but not worry about it too much. If you want to lower the number on the scale, go for it, but you don't look like you need to at all.0

Body fat is far more important than the number on the scale. If you are lean BMI becomes irrelevant. If you got back to 117 that would have a far more negative effect on your health than being a lean but adequate level of body fat at 148lbs. There is such a thing as being too lean, particularly for women.5

I've been huge before when I was obese. Why would I let myself go back?
I run bulk/cut cycles, but they're not for everyone... they're very goal-specific and I don't see not wanting to bulk as an alarm bell!
OP, I agree you have nothing to lose. I'd check in with a doctor about this.4 -

Your hyperfocus on a number on the scale isn't entirely healthy. Especially if it's detrimental to your health.6 -

It seems like something is up with your weight difference there. If you look like your picture (which is still hard to see since one in the bathing suit is tiny and the one you posted above covers alot), I would guess you weigh about the first weight, you look kinda skinny. Are you sure about this 117lb previous weight and 148-151 now, were you on the same scales and are you naked when weighing? One consideration, you may have 10lbs extra hair there in your beach picture if you didn't have long hair back then. But something seems very wrong here, and if that is your current weight you really dont look like you have weight to lose. If all checks out, go to the doctor to go over this, not online to discuss with random people who can't really adequately judge from pictures, something seems not usual here. Be sure to present it the way you did above, your past weight in the same size clothes and your current weight and not changing clothing size, otherwise they may dismiss it as being usual for you.1 -
OP I am 99.9% sure I recognize you from one of the keto groups I mod for on Facebook (you've posted that bikini pic more than once). If you are who I am pretty sure you are you definitely have no room to lose weight, I thought you were going to work on recomping if I remember your last thread correctly?7

I am in a keto group on fb. Unfortunately, I'm too weak to go back to lifting weights like I did in 2015 and 2016. I switched to light cardio because I'm tired all the time.3 -
No you don't need to lose. You look thin already and it looks like you have nothing to lose.
Could you work on maybe beginning a strength training program. I saw you mentioned that your too weak to lift right now. Why is that? Are you ill? ( You don't have to answer, I'm just trying to think of what could possibly be going on here)
You also mentioned a keto group. How many calories are you eating? What calories where you eating while you gained the 30 lbs? Where you down to 117 because you lost a lot initially by switching to Keto by means of water weight? Are you still eating keto ? If so what is your carb intake like?3 -

Then with that additional symptom, definitely go to doctors till you figure this out, its not usual and no random people online can help you.16 -
Is it possible that you have grown in the last few years? Not just in height but in frame size? It just is not possible to put on that much weight and be the same size without some serious weight training.
Think about it. You are already a size 0. You can't go smaller in clothing size without buying children's sizes. That alone should tell you that you do not need to loose weight.8 -

The use of the word "fear" concerns me. But even that aside you really need to go to the doctor.1 -
Honestly, you look thin now. I can't imagine what you would have looked like at 117lbs. Do you have any photos when you were at that weight? I honestly can not see where you need to lose even a pound.2

I don't see it either. I think you are right that a before picture might help clarify this situation.
