@MLHC1 What are you specialising in within Chemistry? My degree was Chemistry! I specialised in Organic - final year thesis I was trying to make azetidines. I failed, hence not having anything to do with Chemistry anymore :D

Funny how you can have a successful day based on your initial goals but so many other challenges thrown up you still feel rubbish. I did nearly everything I planned to do today but still feel like a failure because work was so tough today. Going to try and stay positive because of the ticks but maybe fewer goals for tomorrow...

    Recap 29/1
    - exercise before kids get up ✅
    - 15k + steps ✅ over 20k by bedtime!!
    - 2ltr + water ✅
    - stay within calorie goal ✅ steps and exercise gave me a nice big goal to play with :D
    - letter for class parent ✅
    - email to year group parents ✅
    - guided reading books ✅
    - contact twining schools :# this will not realistically happen before Thursday
    - order dvd of daughter’s show ✅

    Goals for tomorrow:

    - exercise first thing
    - Water 2ltr +
    - Stay within calorie goal
    - Try not to take on too much. Can only do so much for each of the 30 kids in my class. Try not to let one pocket of negativity affect everything else.
    - If not too tired try and get to yoga after work to decompress while my own kids are with their grandparents.

That is all. Def time for a sleep. Night all x

Or how one person can derail you with an unkind word? I know we choose to allow ourselves to be affected so greatly. But. What if you hadn't done all those daily goals? Exercising, hydrating, eating well? You may have well been weaker physically, mentally, and emotionally when the negativity occurred. We are in a process of change! Just by meeting these goals you are a healthier you all around. And one day, you will handle the negativity differently---because you are going onward and upward.

    Peace and joy tomorrow!

@slittlemeister and @MLHC1 I’m a reformed chemist too. Organic. But haven’t done chemistry for 20some years. Though I wish I remembered more biochem from school with my new job.

    1/29 report
    Fast til noon :)
Log :) I saw some “extra”calories and had to go have a piece of cake. Boo.
Walk at work :) funny story, my boss found me and joined me during my walk, and I got an assignment for her while walking. Not going to fall for that anymore.
    Stand during one meeting :)
Try not to let my new workload get me down :/ Hard to do, it’s getting so piled on.

    1/30 JFT
    Log
    Fast til noon
    Walk
    Do my newly assigned presentation
Take breaks at work since I have two hours of meetings tomorrow night. Ugh
    Read to my daughter

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I didn't hop on earlier but I was busy all day at work and then I had to go to oncology appointment for my 6-year follow up post treatment. I usually come home from these feeling happy, happy, happy! But this year I can't celebrate just yet...the Oncologist found some suspicious areas that he can't say for sure aren't cancer. So...that means I go for an MRI next week, Tuesday, and follow up on Thursday for the results. I'm hopeful and feeling very optimistic that the MRI will be clear with nothing to worry about. The doctor didn't say he thought the areas ARE cancer...he just couldn't say for certainty that they AREN'T. If that makes sense? So, not horrible news, but not exactly what I wanted to hear either. I don't really know how I feel right now. Cautiously optimistic? :/

@Bex953172 Your back yard looks AMAZING! You really worked hard! Holy crap! Looks like two different places. It's lovely and my first thought was how nice it would be to sit out there and grill out. Very nice. Also, I'm going to have to put the quilt on hold for now. I'm so happy you understand. Doctor doesn't even want me to go to therapy right now for the arm swelling (lymphedema) because he wants to make sure he knows what's going on first.

I want to also thank everyone so much for the prayers and positive vibes. It meant a lot to me to log on and see that from so many. You guys are really just awesome. Thank you so much for caring.

Love and hugs to you all,
    Tracie

Don't look back...you're not going that way!

It's interesting how getting healthier affects every part of our being. Our countenance. Our confidence. Our peace. Our joy. Our lack of need to hold on to food and stuff. We are changing...and this change is GOOD! (Just know, I still have at least 8 tubs of books, lol!! It's a process, right?!)

    Peace and joy!

SO agree with you - I have been doing the same .... one closet or drawer at a time!! It feels so good having "uncluttered" space.

ANd CONGRATS on losing 10 pounds already!!! Awesome!!

So I am actually going to go to the gym! I think the fact that I made myself get up and run some errands earlier gave me what I needed to get back up.

This is how I feel - I now find that I actually really enjoy going to the gym, and miss it the days I don't go. It helps that I met some wonderful people there who have become friends.

And ... I love your new profile!!

I will continue to pray Tracy. It is good that the doctors are checking everything, and I hope soon you will get good news. But in the meantime .... know we are all praying for you...

So I actually went and spent 45 minutes doing arms and abs because I had done some pretty serious walking and biking the two days before so I wanted to give them a rest. Lol. I felt so good when I got home! Took a nice hot shower and am wide awake.

And thank you for the compliment. I took that picture about 3 weeks ago. It's the most recent one I have. The guy on my right is the DH. Lol.

My research is in Analytical Chemistry. My final paper will be a summary of my research topic which is "Analysis of Glycopeptides Derived From Esophagus Disease Blood Serum Using LC-MS/MS and CE-MS/MS." This is what I am currently working on.

I have an associate's degree in biology. My bachelor's degree will be in chemistry but I plan to get my Masters in Biomedical Sciences then proceed to medical school from there.

@chemjenny What is your profession in now that you wish you remembered more biochem?

(It's awesome to be among fellow chemist  Sometimes I feel so nerdy when I get excited over my projects and school work, Lol!!)

    ✔▪Regular morning routine for kids
    ✔▪Breakfast w/ hubby
    ✔▪JFT
    ❌▪Prenatal Yoga
    ✅▪Research work - Analyze 25 glycopeptides➡️Analyzed 11
    ✔▪Lunch
    ❌▪Sm Grocery list & shopping
✔▪Pick up one kiddo at 3 pm
✔▪Pick up another kiddo at 4:30 pm (tutoring)
✔▪Pick up teen from track at 5:45 pm
    ✔▪Dinner by 7 pm
    ✔▪Bedtime by 10 pm

Well instead of yoga and shopping, my body thought "why not have contractions and dilate again!" So I had to go to the doctor unexpectedly but luckily everything is okay. Apparently my body is just going to dilate periodically but no other changes are occurring so my doctor is not overly concerned with preterm labor. This just means I really have to slow down and relax more. So I guess I have too :joy:

@OConnell5483 I'll keep you in my prayers. Remember just think positive thoughts, I know that can be hard but stress isn't worth it. I'm glad the doctors are double checking everything.

@cory17 Thanks for the advice! I will go tonight! And I'll do arms and chest maybe. I wish my gym had a steam room or jacuzzi! Lol. But I can always just take a nice hot shower. That usually really helps me.

@Bex953172 How have you been feeling the last few days? Have you needed to take the tabs?

    I’ve been feeling okay!
Apart from 1 day where I was sick again. Typical really. As soon as I get medicine or flag up some sort of ailment to my gp it miraculously disappears...
So not needed to take tabs but that’s a good thing! But had a call confirming I have a bacteria in my guts (not sure which) and they’re sorting that now to see what I need. Probably antibiotics.

But today, I’ve felt the best in ages! I’ve been so happy all day! And all it took was having the house spotless from the night before so no cleaning when I got up and a coffee before the kids got up and that sorted me for the day! (Although had to sacrifice my bladder lol, I went for a wee about 4 times in an hour!)

I was on time for nursery. I was cheerful all day. I handled my partner well today as I was overly happy and he wasn’t having the best day. And normally his grumpiness can bring me down because I just want him to be happy and if he’s not then I’m not, and things that I would be normally very sensitive to haven’t even got me down today!
    I’ve radiated happiness today!

Hoping for the same tomorrow but it is 4.30am here and I’ve had 2 hours sleep and need to get up in 3 hours. Soooooooooo tomorrow may be more difficult haha and will probably require more coffee..
