Great book, lots of human insights, both positive and negative.1 -
Just finished The Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S Grant.
Well started on The Invention of Nature: Alexander von Humboldt
I was pretty much unaware of this great scientist and naturalist from the early 19th century, even though I was aware of the Humboldt Current and the Humboldt River. He was a major mentor for Darwin.2 -

One of the best and most important books of the last 100 years. I had 3 family members in the GULAG btw. 2 made it back, including my great-granddad, who was there WITH Solzhenitsyn.1 -

It was good by the end. I felt kind of meh about it for the first half. I thought the main character was annoying.0 -
I'm reading Hurlbut's Story of the Bible. It's pretty cool since it's just the stories in the Bible. I'm very non-religious, so I especially appreciate the lack of flowery 'ye Olde English' and wasted time on who begat who.
ETA- I just finished Altered Carbon. It was pretty good and I recommend it. Also very excited to start watching it on Netflix today.1 -
