Log my food.
Increase my water intake.
Small steps, can be big steps.5 -
Still under the weather but all goals met in reasonable comfort, even if I complained about them a lot to an empty house (thank goodness my partner was out and only the cats had to endure it)
Anyway, onwards and upwards!
stay within KJ limit
watch out for sugar and sodium limits
eat chia for breakfast
avoid dairy and gluten
complete 30mins on exercise bike

dramaqueen45 wrote: »Wore fitness tracker yesterday for the first time- found out that the exercise bike gives me almost double the calories that my tracker does so perhaps my weight loss is a bit stalled from entering too many calories from that. I do try to only enter half the calories but sometimes I enter all of them because I want to eat more, and I get motivated to exercise because I get 200-300 more calories. But yesterday the bike, as usual, gave me 300 calories for around 42 minutes and the tracker gave me 190. So there you go.
I wear a Fitbit Charge HR and don't enter the tracker calories or link to MFP. Ditto with the treadmill and MapMyWalk apps (my basic forms of exercise). From what I've read, trackers / apps tend to estimate calories high. All my "activity" on MFP is entered manually, based on duration and pace. And I always eat back my calories, because I'm too hungry otherwise. This system has been working for me for about 9 months. My weight loss has been slow and gradual, which is "in a livable way" that I'm willing to accept.
BTW, housework is a form of exercise, too. It's listed in the MFP exercise diary.5 -
@saragirl0906:
I remember that quote from FlyLady about wearing lace up shoes, getting dressed, and fixing your hair and face. I think I am spending too many mornings at home in my jammies, and scuffs! Tomorrow is the beginning of Lent; good time to change some habits.
Thanks for your post.
According to FlyLady (google-funny lady) if you wear lace up shoes instead of slip on shoes or bare feet, you'll get more done in a day (wearing jeans vs stretchy yoga pants).

I had a GREAT morning. No joke! It's was fabulous! Spent two hours with R talking about everything you can think of. It was glorious! We were supposed to have a gathering of the four high school friends on Friday, but two live in another state and cant make it. R and I are going to meet up and I'm going to introduce her to my DH. They've never met even though I tell each one loads of stories about the other. Lol. Got my bloodwork done in about 5 minutes. It helped that the place we went to eat and chat was only about a mile and a half away. Got in and out super quick. I love that office. It's about 20 minutes away but the service is totally worth the drive.
So now I am eating some lunch and going to change into workout stuff(which includes yoga pants! Lol) and go to the gym. However, I'm going to bring a change of clothes with me and change there before heading to the library. Lol. I want to do some more writing before the DH get's home. As I said last night, it seems that I can only seem to write when I am not home. I dont really have any ideas yet for anything substantial but I'm hoping that as the days go on I'll be able to glean something from what I've written. Who knows, but I want to at least try.
I hope everyone continues to have a great day! Be back later!

I met all but one daily goal (journal) I set for yesterday.
JFT, Tuesday, 2/13
Drink at least 6 cups of water
Log all food
Quit eating by 8pm
journal
Success:
Back in 1990 I bought a dress for my 10 year high school reunion. I still have it as it is one of my all time favorites. I've only worn it about 8 times because I went on to have three more children, gaining weight with each, and losing weight only to gain it back again, etc. My Benefit/Bonus on this health journey is to wear it at our son's rehearsal dinner in November. I tried it on and I can now button it. It looks horribly tight...but I can button it! Onward and upward.
What I am learning:
We have been finding ways to reduce stress in our lives: Prepping the day or week before; getting more sleep; leaving work on time; organizing and decluttering. As we become more stress free, we are getting thinner!!!
Stress can make a person fat! Stress from lack of sleep; from work; a cluttered, dis-organized home; over-worked; upset with spouse; guilt from overeating; from looming deadlines; stress caused from bitterness or unforgiveness.
STRESS. Why? Well, many of us have a tendency to lose our focus and overeat when we are stressed. But there's another reason STRESS causes fat.
It's a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol is a very much needed for us to function well. But, when cortisol is too high for too long, it can increase the amount of fat we store. It is also called visceral fat.
And where does it store food? IN OUR BELLIES!
How does cortisol increase? Eating inflammatory foods (fried, etc) But also, STRESS. So, by managing our eating and our stress levels, and exercising we can reduce excess weight caused by cortisol.
Here are a couple of links: https://www.livestrong.com/article/182548-how-to-get-rid-of-cortisol-fat/ and
11 Natural Ways to Reduce Cortisol Levels: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/ways-to-lower-cortisol#section1
So, Stay Calm and Reduce your belly fat!
And as someone similarly posted earlier:
I can't control someone else's behavior. But I can control my reaction.
Peace and joy!

Took the boy to the dr. will be starting a low dose of SSRI anti-depressant tonight. hoping it will help with the hair pulling, anxiety, etc.
My SSRI's have worked wonders for my illness and anxieties. They helped me get my feet back under me after so many years with anxiety and panic attacks. I'm actually off the emergency ones. I haven't taken one of them since I left my convenience store job last April. And I learned a whole bunch of techniques to remove myself from an "emotional crisis" when things get really bad. The one I'm on for everyday actuals doubles as an anti-depressant and I think it's more of an anti-depressant than an anti-anxiety med. But either way, I hope they work! I know it cant be easy to have a child on the spectrum. When I wasn't medicated for the Bipolar I was a real issue for my parents. I know it's not the same but I hope you know that there are people here that are pulling for you and your son. And can see what a great Mom you are to him. Keep up the great work and one day he will thank you. My Mom and I had a really rough relationship all of my teenage and young adult years. But I grew up and got medicated and she learned that I'm not who I used to be anymore and now she's one of my best friends. Took about 3 year of hard work and harder conversations but it is totally worth it! So keep up the amazing job you are doing and know that there a whole bunch of people pulling for you and your son!5 -

Wonderful that you have reconnected with your friend. Good friends are a treasure!
They really are. I reconnected with her and the other two in the beginning of January and it's been absolutely amazing. I'm closer to R then the other two but I think that's mainly because I see her every week. We have a standing breakfast date every week. And I get to learn what it takes to raise a 3-year-old boy. Lol. But I love it. I really do. Other then my DH, she's probably my friend that I am the closest to. It's amazing how we've just fallen back into this amazing friendship after ten years. I know I keep rhapsodizing about her but she should back up in my life right when I needed her. I had lost touch with most of my friends. I hadn't seen my "best friends" in 3 years and they all live in a ten-mile radius from me. So it's really awesome to be able to see her every week. It's something I haven't had in so long.4 -

Thank you so much! I've been on Zoloft for about a zillion years. It's genetic in my family. We've been thinking about starting him on them for a couple years, but wanted to wait as long as possible on this one.1 -

My Mom has anxiety that manifests itself as depression. It's genetic for us too. But I know what you mean about waiting. There's mental illness on my DH's side of the family as well. My parents think I've had my illness since I was very young because of some of the tendencies I had(compulsive lying, Damn the consequences I'm gonna do what I want attitude, etc). So we are going to be on a constant lookout for things like that in our children from a young age. I really dont want to have to medicate them really young, but I will. I dont want them to have the really hard experiences that I did. I had a really tough adolescence because I hid my illness so well, not realizing what it was. To me, it was just me being weak, showing weakness. It didn't click for my parents that something was really wrong until after I graduated high school. Anyway! Lol. I really hope it works! Mine work really well. So I'm praying that the same happens for your son and that it helps him.1 -

And once you know the stitches you need the videos less and less. Even now. I forget or come across a new stitch and all I had to do is YouTube “how to do a...” and then I do the stitch on my

Wow all of you are so talented at craft etc! I can barely sew on a button! But I used to use piano practice as a good way to occupy myself - may add that to tomorrow’s goals!
Recap today:
- exercise before kids get up ✅
- 2ltr + water ✅
- stay within calorie goal ✅
- Hot yoga class ✅
- Make pancakes for the kids ✅
- Take kids to movies in the evening but.. ✅
- Be home for grocery delivery! ✅
Yay all green! Such a good feeling. And groceries came early so I can get an early night.
Goals for 14/2:
- exercise before kids get up
- Stay within calorie goal
- 2ltr + water
- Have a lovely day with younger daughter while big one is on a playdate
- Practice the piano - why not?!
- Not think about valentine’s day!
Have a fab evening everyone and I’ll see you back here again tomorrow x5 -
I love how you’re all saying about sweat/yoga pants and getting changed properly (don’t get me wrong I think it’s amazing change around and I agree it does help!)
However it’s 3pm here and I’m still in my pyjamas and only just getting a shower
I frequently do this when I work from home.
It is also not uncommon for me to forget to clean my teeth on WFH days!!!
(Normally I do that before I leave the house, but when I WFH I often plan to do it after breakfast and then forget as I've changed my routine....)
I'm not proud of this....4 -
JFT TUESDAY RECORD
1. stick to calorie goal
2. Go to yoga class
Well...I think I met my calorie goal but not entirely confident I added the pancakes correctly- so filling and not as many calories as you’d think! - may have missed some critical ingredient there!
JFT WEDNESDAY GOALS
1. stick to calorie goaL
2. Metafit class
3. Go for swim5 -
What I am learning:
We have been finding ways to reduce stress in our lives: Prepping the day or week before; getting more sleep; leaving work on time; organizing and decluttering. As we become more stress free, we are getting thinner!!!
I've actually discovered recently that not only does having a tidy home reduce stress, but the act of tidying itself can alleviate it!
I often get home late and a bit stressed and often my default response is to have a G&T (as it has fewer calories than chocolate... let's not talk about what it might be doing to my liver...)
I've been thinking for quite some time about trying to find alternative, more healthy strategies for de-stressing. However it's challenging as by the time I get home I tend to be running out of evening and it's also dark (which means walks aren't appealing). TV doesn't seem to distract me enough, while reading can be difficult to concentrate on.
But last week quite by accident, I discovered that a short burst of tidying/ organising/ decluttering/ cleaning is really good for de-stressing! I don't have to concentrate, but equally it districts me. I'm now planning to do try this whenever I come home a bit stressed!
5 -
okay ... tbh ... I am in a *kitten* mood. My goal JFT:
DO NOT LET MY BAD MOOD dictate or enable bad choices. this mood will lift, don't sabotage yourself today xx
Main priority -
1) drink water every hour - today's priority as I am feeling very bloated AGAIN
2) log everything, as usual
Stay on making healthy choices and don't let the number rule your move. It's an overall downward trend. 2 more days til end of round 31, let's hit your goal. This might give you the mood boost you need!4 -

I remember when first married, my m-i-l mentioned that mopping floors was a great way to let off "I'm gonna wring my husband's neck" steam!!! And it does work to release frustration or pent up energy, etc. Plus we are rewarded with a cleaned/tidy area. And good thought that you don't have to really put much brainwork to use.3 -

4. Read my newly updated Beck's cards
5. Reach step goal Was stuck in meetings all day except for one hour between 2:00 and 3:00pm! ugh.

7. Optimal Living Daily and Optimal Health Daily podcasts on my way to work
8. Prep for work the night before Coffeemaker set, outfit picked out, lunch packed, laptop bag by the door.

10.Bed one hour early unplugged and read. Get up in morning without hitting snooze. Planning to do this two hours early! I'm exhausted tonight.
Hungry tonight. Dinner I ate tonight did not stick with me and my stomach is feeling nauseous after taking my meds. Not sure what I'm going to eat because I think I only have like 40 calories left to stay green.
Just for Wednesday
1. Stay in the green.
2. HYDRATE
3. Body Groove workout
4. Get caught up on emails tomorrow and start ticking off some of my project tasks
5. Hang my whiteboard in my cubicle, document project statuses. Kanban board format maybe?
6. Simple Abundance Reading, Beck Diet Solution reading, gratitude journal
7. Optimal Living and Optimal Health Daily podcasts

Perhaps I can't control what happens in life, but I certainly can control how I react to it.

@Saragirl2 I think that is the accountability I am missing with my yoga pants. No tight waistband reminding me to watch myself. I love both of the examples you gave about my future self, and the slip on shoes! OMG! SO TRUE!
Also, I'm so excited to hear about your son's grades! That is amazing! (((HUGS)))
@Bex953172 You make me giggle! You are allowed to be in your pj's until 3pm!
@toaljasa Very insightful! Thanks for the links. I'm going to read them after I log off. Cortisol has been a battle for me for many years... Stress and I have been dancing partners for what seems like forever!
@joan6630 I get depressed in the winter too, and if I can't even leave the house I really get cabin fever! I'm glad to see you post. I miss you when I don't see you on here! You just take care of you!
@HGSmith0920 I am so excited to hear that you are so happy! I miss having a best friend. I haven't had one in town since I moved here. You are blessed!2
