4. Dinner out for alentine's Day Went, had a nice time with hubby, unfortunately the restaurant seems to have changed hands and has gone downhill.
That's sucky! I hate when that happens! That happened to me and the DH a few years ago. It turns out that it ended up closing less than a year later. It was where the DH and I had our first official date.3 -
@OConnell5483 I just want to let you know that after the gym I came home, took a shower and changed into jeans and a T. I even put my hair up and makeup on! I haven't dont that except for a special occasion in a while! I did actually go out and the DH won't be home to see it. But nonetheless, I feel great! And I'm now home and sitting on my couch typing this on my laptop and I am still in my jeans and T. My shoes are off but other than that I am still "appropriately" dressed. Lol. I think I am going to do that from now on!6

@MLHC1 I'm so sorry you're sick! That's not nice at all. I'm glad that the family is all better at least! I hope you feel well enough to go to the lab tomorrow. But if you dont, dont push yourself! You can always go to the lab next time.3

It really makes a difference doesn't it? That's so cool! I'm glad it made you feel great! I really don't know why I got away from it. I did the same thing tonight. Changed from work slacks to jeans when I got home and it really has made a difference for me too. I have my work clothes set out for tomorrow, my breakfast and lunch packed for tomorrow, coffee pot set on auto and just got done doing a Dance workout. I never, and I mean NEVER, have that much energy on Mondays.4 -

JFT, 2/12/18
1. Log all that I eat Done and have a very large deficit but above "warning" range
2. Up by 8 am Actually a quarter to 8 because my cat is a jerk. Lol
3. Coffee/MFP/Bible Everything but the Bible. I looked at it this morning and kind of shrugged my shoulders.
I will do this tomorrow!!!
4. Iron clothes at Mom's house Did this but I dont think I really know how to iron because I dont think I got a lot of the wrinkles out of my dress shirt. Lol. I'll have to ask mom for a refresher course.
5. Set up DH's meal to take to work Done...but he forgot it because I wasn't there to remind him to take it.
6. Doc appointment at 11:15 Clean bill of health, was in and out of the office in 15 minutes. It was great!
7. Bring interview clothes and resume w/ to appointment Did this but didn't need to. Ended up getting out with plenty of time to spare so I was able to eat something and get all dolled up
8. INTERVIEW @ 1 Went well. We'll see. See previous posts to get details. Lol
9. Confirm breakfast with R for Tuesday We are still a go! Woohoo!
10. Gym Actually worked really hard. I broke a really good sweat and worked my muscles hard.
11. Clean shower Does spraying it down with daily shower cleaner count? Lol
12. Bring clothes to donation Done
13. Leftovers 4 dinner/Dishes Made myself a salad with leftover chicken. Have yet to do the dishes but will do them before bed!
14. Bed by 12 pm (DH works late) Doubtful but we'll see. I'm still pretty wide awake
I had a GREAT day today. I got done pretty much everything I wanted to AND I managed to spend some time writing. I ended up having to go bury myself in the back of my local public library to take myself away from distractions to get it done. All I brought with me was a notebook, a pen, and my phone. My phone I turned on silent and flipped upside down. I had only planned to write for 15 minutes and even set a timer on my phone. I didn't know that the timer wouldn't sound because my phone was muted. Lol. I ended up writing for 25 minutes instead. It was just stream of consciousness. Literally, just random thoughts pouring out of me onto this notebook page. A lot of it had nothing to do with anything else. Lol. But I got three pages filled. It felt very very nice! I'm gonna do it again tomorrow. I think I have to train myself not to get distracted by things so for a while I am going to keep doing it places that aren't home. Once it warms up again I'll go to a park somewhere or sit outside at a picnic table. One of the books I just finished called this writing practice and advised that writers should do it every day. I'm going to try it. At least for a week and see if I can keep it up. At least 15 minutes a day in my notebook. We'll see how it works.
So onto my list!

Just for Monday
1. No processed carbs
2. 65 oz of water or decaf beverages (tea) Close but not quite there. Much better than usual though.
3. Body Groove program = next step, after work
4. Review Beck's index cards at least twice I am rewriting them again!
5. Hit my step goal
6. Read today's Simple Abundance and Beck's Diet Solution
7. Prep Tuesday's lunch, coffee pot, and set out clothes
8. 30 minutes cardio (Body Groove?) This is SO MUCH FUN! I think I have FINALLY found an activity I can stick with because I really enjoyed it! At least until I can start getting outside more.
9. Bed sleeping by 10, and get up in morning without hitting snooze Fingers crossed on this one. I don't see why I wouldn't though.
Well, I thought of another thing I could change to keep me in line. I changed my settings so others can see my food diary. I had it set to private, because I was always so embarrassed of my choices. But that's not exactly being accountable and I have to stop kidding myself! I'm only hurting ME. My goal is to weigh 150 by May 17th and that won't happen if I don't make some MAJOR changes. So, no more sweatpants and no more hiding my food choices.
Just for Tuesday
1. No processed carbs
2. 64 oz of water or decaf tea
3. Be confident in scary meeting tomorrow. Don't let them know I'm nervous, and don't be afraid to speak up regarding the new process.
4. Read my newly updated Beck's cards
5. Reach step goal
6. Simple Abundance daily reading, Beck's Diet Solution daily reading.
7. Optimal Living Daily and Optimal Health Daily podcasts on my way to work
8. Prep for work the night before
9. Body Groove Workout
10. Bed one hour early unplugged and read. Get up in morning without hitting snooze.

It's amazing how much energy I had today after committing to changing that behavior in myself. And I didn't do it for anyone but myself. The DH hasn't been home all evening so it wasn't even like I did it for him. I mean I will next time but it just feels good to look good. I haven't worn make up for anything other than my most recent job in about 10 years. When I was in high school and just out of high school I wore really dark heavy black eyeliner(yes, I was a goth. Lol) and I would forget to wash my face at night so I would wake up and Mom and Dad would say I had "Raccoon Eyes". Lol. That was really the last time I wore it just to wear it. And that was between 06-08. It felt nice to put it on today. Lol.4 -

SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!! I know for myself, I wear jeans all the time, because there is no give. I also always put on makeup and fix my hair -- even though I work out of my home. I guess it was just a habit I always had, and on the few days where I let my hair go, I feel awful all day.

All the excitement on this board is contagious!! ANd I am so proud of you guys! Now .... I need to step up to the plate!!
I am so far behind reading on here .... but just the past 2 pages of posts, I can feel the motivation and excitement!
I also want to get those last 20 pounds off. I've been really slacking. I was thinking about all that today, and I think my problem is depression. I tend to get this during the long winter months. And believe it or not .... but I have not hardly left the house in 3 week - except for a run to the grocery store. I think it is getting to me!!!! Hubby is SO worried, and even paranoid about getting the flu, especially since his throat is still very raw, but it will be 6 days since his surgery, so tomorrow I AM going to the gym!!!
Yes, like @Bex said .... I could just exercise at home. But for me, it is more than that. It gets me out and talking to people, who have become friends. My doctor told me that losing weight is only 10% exercise .... so that is not my excuse for the scale not moving. The scale is not moving because I am eating too much, and the wrong foods.
SO tomorrow, like you all said, is a new day. I also would love to get those last 14-20 pounds off by my birthday in July, but even if I only lose 10, I will be happy. (and that is only 2 pounds a month .... so I KNOW I can do better than that). I turn 67 in July .... I would love to be within 10 pounds of my goal.
And like you guys said .... when we are in control ..... when we eat healthy .... we feel better! You are all testimony to that!
SO JFT, Tues
1. log ALL food
2. concentrate on water
3. GO TO THE GYM... More for my sanity than anything else .... plus it gets my frame of mind where it should be
4. go to the dentist. Dreading this -- I had a implant done about 3 years ago, and the tooth is lose. Praying it is only the crown that is lose, and not the actual implant!
5. soup for lunch and fruit ...... chicken for dinner .... and protein for a snack in the evening.
6. get back on here .... be accountable.
Think of how happy we will all be in 3 months if we keep going.6 -

And I thought I was going to be late which really bothered me, but I walked into the bank at exactly 1 pm (which still bothered me.) I'm the kind of person who thinks that if I'm on time, I'm actually late. Lol. I'm usually at least 10 minutes early to every appointment I go to. It drives my DH crazy! Lol. I think I hit every red light of the 10 that I had to go through to get to the bank.
I missed this - the job interview!!! Congrats, and I hope it turns into the job you love!2 -

@joan6630 hey there sweetie, regarding the gym and potential depression:
a. It's important for your mental health as well as your physical.
b. Have you been taking any extra vitamin D?
c. Would it help hubby if you wiped everything down before and after you used it?
d. Hugs for you.5 -
@Joan6630 I certainly don't want to be a total Negative Nelly. I do want to encourage you that while the list you made is one that could certainly be achievable on a good healthy day, that perhaps you should pare it down so that it is more attainable for where you are TODAY. Perhaps Just For Today going to the gym will give you a restart and will help you refocus so that you will once again start achieving your daily goals. The gym. That's it. Or to drink 3 cups of water, instead of concentrating on 8. Or to come back here to be uplifted instead of to hold yourself accountable. Are you writing down the daily goals that you think you SHOULD write down, that you SHOULD be able to attain? If I broke my foot and I wrote down "ride my stationary bike"---I would be writing what I SHOULD be able to do, if I was physically capable--- Right now you are struggling. So instead of making the same ol same ol list, write down what, in your frame of mind, you feel you can actually accomplish...and that might just be one item. (can't help you with the dreaded dentist, however. He probably needs to stay on the list, lol) And if you go to the gym, take germ killing wipes with you to the gym! Just come here to sit and soak encouraging words and support---it won't be long before you are back to a healthy you!
Praying for peace and joy.5 -
So it turns out logging food on pancake Day is incredibly complicated (or at least, the way my boyfriend cooks them) and involves weighing the batter multiple times and then doing lots of maths.
We started....and then gave up. Oh well. I will log for the rest of the week!
Today has started well, I've already been to the gym!
Yesterday's commitments:
- Log my food as I go so am aware of what I'm eating As above....
- Choose light lunch (less than 400 Cal's) Annoyingly the place I wanted to go (sushi) had no seats so we went somewhere else. I ordered something I remembered as being lighter (the calories are on the website but not on the menu) but it turned out to be 550. Could have been worse, the last time I got something from there it turned out to be nearly 800!
- No snacks
- Leave work by 5.15
- Exercise DVD after work
- Moderate my pancake eating - eat slowly so I feel full quicker, and keep the amount of filling down Er, didn't really try so hard on this one... Oops
- Max 3 G&T
Today's commitments:
- Log everything I eat
- stick to food plan
- stop working at 5.30 in order to do french homework
- leave work at 6.30 in order to have time off before french class
- make plan of action for morning before bed5 -
Wore fitness tracker yesterday for the first time- found out that the exercise bike gives me almost double the calories that my tracker does so perhaps my weight loss is a bit stalled from entering too many calories from that. I do try to only enter half the calories but sometimes I enter all of them because I want to eat more, and I get motivated to exercise because I get 200-300 more calories. But yesterday the bike, as usual, gave me 300 calories for around 42 minutes and the tracker gave me 190. So there you go.
JFT:
1. Log all food- stay in the green
2. Start over with week 2 of C25K - not ready to double running time
3. Do housework in AM before leaving home
4. Go to gym after work
5. Have a productive day
Happy Tuesday!3 -
JFY (Monday, 2/12/18)
1. Drink 8 glasses of water
2. Log all my food
3. Be "in the green" with my calories for the day
4. Go to the gym (30 min circuit, 30 min treadmill)
5. Bring son to Dr
6. Finish 3 orders from my shop
JFT (Tuesday, 2/13/18)
1. Drink 8 glasses of water
2. Log all my food
3. Be "in the green" with my calories for the day
4. Go to the gym (30 min circuit, 10 min elliptical, 10 min bike)
5. Finish 2 orders from my shop5 -
Well for once the cat wasn't a jerk last night. In fact, I think at one point he was asleep on top of me. But of course, I woke up an hour before my alarm and couldn't get back to sleep. That's really annoying. It hasn't happened in a little while so I was hoping I was passed it...guess not. Oh well. Guess I'm running on 6 hours of sleep again today. I think lots of coffee will be in order. Lol.
So I'm going to Chick-Fil-A with one of my best friends and her son. Meeting up and chatting has turned into a weekly thing and I am loving it! We were really really close when I was a senior in high school and for a few years after. I actually introduced her to her husband. Lol. Ya know what's funny? It's been so long that I have no idea how I even met her husband. Lol. I'm drawing a total blank. Lol. But I used to call her my twin and everything. She was one of the people that I clung to during my crazy years. She helped steady me and welcomed me with open arms into her group of friends. I had actually met her when we were both in Elementary School. Her sister was in my grade and she was two years behind us. But we were all on the same bus. I think I remember talking to her more than her sister on the bus. Lol. But she was such an important part of my life during those years and I'm so glad to have her back. I dont know if anyone bought my poetry book but the "Senior Year" section she lived through most of with me. She's never mentioned directly I don't think but she was definitely involved in a lot of it. I actually sent her a copy back in the beginning of January and she said that they were amazing and that she could really see the difference in me from those years to now. She truly is one of the best people I know, and one of the best mothers I know. She adores her kids and is raising them right. And after so many years apart she is welcoming me back into the fold and letting me be a part of her children's lives. It just makes me feel so good!
Okay, that was a really long shpeal. I apologize. Lol. I guess I'm in a writing mood. Lol. Which is still a new thing for me.

Scale goals
Dec 1 weigh-in: 176.6
End of 2017: 174.6
Feb 1 weigh-in: 173.6
Feb 28 goal: 169.6
Today: 180.6. Yesterday was HORRIBLE. I was doing okay through lunch, but we were required to stay late at school for a meet-the-parents night that almost no parents came to. I just got angrier and angrier and I came home and ate my rage away. (And I watched Miss Congeniality as well.) I know it wasn't a wise choice, but I still don't really regret it, because the combination did help me let go of most of that unpleasantness. I'm still displeased with the situation, but even thinking back on it doesn't make me clench up in fiery fury like it did every time I thought about it yesterday afternoon.

Hi! Today:
Under calorie goal,
Make soup for 5 night dinner

So sorry to hear about this. Just know that that is not normal. At my kiddos school, meet-the-parents night is ridiculously packed!! You would think it was so sort of concert when you see the parking lot, Lol!! There are parents out there that do still care about their kiddos education!! I'm sure it can be frustrating when you go through a season that seems otherwise. Hang in there, teachers are awesome and incredible people making a huge difference in the world!! I, for one, truly appreciate teachers and their dedication towards educating the future generations.
Sometimes we need a chic-flick and that usually comes with emotional eating. The trick is to stock up your pantry with some low-calorie snack foods. So when this happens, you reach for the low-calorie snacks like; air-popped popcorn (100 calorie bags), the fiber one brownies (100 calories and low sugar content) or the sorbet instead of ice cream It happens so why not prepare for it, Lol!!
Hang in there lady, you've got this!!4 -

Parent-teacher night usually fell on my birthday in high school. Sometimes one of my parents would go and sometimes both of them would and we'd just celebrate my birthday another time. I was kind of upset about it back then but now that I think about it I'm actually kind of glad that they went because every time they came home they had a huge smile on their faces and would give me an extra tight hug because all of my teachers praised me. I know that when I have kids that are in school I will definitely be going to their school nights @MLHC1 is right. Teachers are amazing people. I had some really AWESOME ones when I was in school and college. You seem to really care about your kids and it was not nice of the parents to stand you up like that. I hope you take encouragement from the fact that some people still really respect you and think that you are important!3 -
@MLHC1 That sounds like a nice easy day. From what I can tell, you have a great family and are an awesome mom. Dont try to do too much. I'm glad you aren't staying at the lab today. And the nap sounds heavenly! Lol. Take some vitamins if you can(which ones, I have no idea Lol) I hope you feel better soon!

@OConnell5483 So I am up, dressed, hair and makeup done, and shoes are on and I still have 20 minutes before I have to leave! Lol. I think that I am going to start changing into my day clothes before I go and get my coffee in the morning. That way it will be easier to weigh myself right when I get up and not after 2 cups of coffee and some breakfast! Lol.4
-
@CHAMM014 Awesome job sticking to the food plan! I always have trouble with this because I always say that I am going to eat breakfast and then never do. Two cups of coffee fill me up pretty well and I'm usually good until lunch. I know that it is not a healthy way to go, but I'm just not hungry in the mornings. I've been like that most of my life. But it definitely does feel awesome to feel good about yourself! I'm so proud of you! You did a great job!5

Wow! Your post is beaming with all those smiley faces!!! Super great job. RE: sweats. I think it's a great idea to wear jeans to remind you of the waste band. I tossed my sweats out almost ten years ago, and I've not regretted it. I do not have yoga pants (I just work out in an old pair of cropped pants or shorts). But if I did, I would use them just for exercise/yoga. Even though I am home during the day, I put on jeans or slacks and shoes. It increases my productivity and I just "feel" better.
Oh, and I see you prepped and accessorized your clothes for the week---I think that really got your mornings off to a great start...I'm glad you got it done again...less stress for the morning!
Peace and joy
Thank you! I don't know what happened, but suddenly yesterday a few light bulbs went on.
Regarding the jeans....I really don't know what happened! I never used to wear sweat pants around the house. I always wore jeans and a top and did my hair and make-up because I wanted to look nice for my husband. I also just plain felt better when I did that. I don't know what happened to change that...probably a few factors: stressed out from work, dealing with complications of chemo and surgeries, weight gain, depression... Excuses, of course, but I think I think I got in a rut and just didn't even realize it. So, I'm glad you understand what I'm coming from with that one! I really believe it will make a difference. A small change that could pay out big!
And yes, this is week 2 for setting out my outfits for the week so I can just shower and go without thinking about it. Also making my breakfast and lunch for the next day, getting coffee pot set on auto timer, and my laptop bag packed and by the door ready to go. My oh my, does that ever make my morning go smooth!!!
xoxo
@OConnell5483 You are inspiring me. I can relate to a lot of what you posted. So easy to slip into a rut. Funny how my yoga pants are my go to now. Maybe when I used to wear my jeans it helped keep me aware of when things were getting too tight. I love so much of what you said. On the mornings when I've planned ahead, things tend to go smoothly and I can adjust my morning if I encounter obstacles (kid tantrums, dog fiasco, etc). Otherwise, I'm scrambling & making poor choices later in the day b/c of the stress I encountered earlier.
2 things come to mind that I've heard in the past:
Always think "what would my future self appreciate" (having hot coffee brewing as you awake, clothes selected & laid out)
According to FlyLady (google-funny lady) if you wear lace up shoes instead of slip on shoes or bare feet, you'll get more done in a day (wearing jeans vs stretchy yoga pants).
Just a thought!3 -
I need to make sleep & meditation higher on my priority list.
Since I'm feeling run down I will aim to be in bed by 9:30 tonight.
Meditation may not be possible as I'm taking DD to a low vision school for testing, but I'll try.
Drink water-64oz min. May have to consume more in evening b/c of schedule.
Track all my meals today-low carb/high protein.
Pack protein bar & apple in bag.
Walk/run dog at the ocean side park. My car back seat is filthy, even w/the dog protector. Remind myself that it's worth it & she loves it.
Read this evening "New Book Of Lifting for Women".
Boy Scout meeting tonight.
NSV at parent conferences last night, my son has brought his (8th) grades up from D/F to B+. He's worked hard but it's mainly b/c a teacher has finally addressed our concerns about his lack of executive functioning skills. We work together, communicate and support him. Homework used to be rage/tears from my son, but he's made incredible progress. He has set a goal and we're helping to keep him inspired.
This whole experience with this amazing teacher has allowed me to fac a lot of my own fears and challenges. It shows me the importance of setting goals, healthy boundaries and advocating for yourself.
Shake off negative vibes!
