@7lenny7 That looks like quite the epic race! I am afraid that is what my 50K in 3.5 weeks is going to look like.... I water walked and did my body weight exercises on Monday (and foam rolled while watching a movie at night with my son). This morning I did my first circuit training class (a lot of cross fit and body weight type exercises) and then ran 5 miles in the Nature Park (the weather is fantastic here today). I'm hoping that the classes for the strength stuff will be more motivating than trying to do it on my own.
Feb 1 Ran 6.0 mi + stretching
Feb 2 Water walking
Feb 3 Ran 10.2 mi + stretching + foam rolling
Feb 4 Ran 18 mi + stretching + foam rolling
Feb 5 Water walking
Feb 6 Ran 4.5 mi + stretching

@juliet3455 I actually do have a backpack that I have set up for running/cycling/duathlons, with stuff in it from towels to medical to duct tape to extra undies. I used up the sun screen a few months ago & have forgotten to replace it, however, got a few samples there at the Expo that I promptly put in right in the pocket! And I usually always try to get to events a few hours before start times. This is my 4th year running Gasparilla & have NEVER run into this problem, usually I pull into the 1st parking lot & get a spot. Have NO idea why this year it was different.
My mum asked me the next day if I had "fun". Fun? No. Will I do it again next year? Oh Ya!!
And it's crazy, but I DO kinda look forward to the little badges on this Nike app. Yesterday's run, I earned "Farthest Run:, "Longest Run", the Silver Milestone (25 miles in a month) AND I beat Saturday for my "Fastest 5K"! Oh, and I so totally negative splitted! Oh ya!

2/22 - 2.76 miles

Races:

2/24 - Gasparilla 5K - 44:52, 14.03
Yearly goal: 200 miles - Jan 17.61 - 28.3= 154.09 to run!
If you get a garmin you can connect it to your nike running app and still get the badges and track your shoes. Fitbit does not sync with nike.

Just realized that today is my "official" 2 year Runniversary. It was the first day that I ran 5 miles without having to do intervals.8

Decided to go back out and hit up the trails to burn off some steam. Had just hit the 6 mile mark when it started to sprinkle and since the sky was already purple i headed home and of course the minute i walk in the door it stopped. Gotta love Cali weather. Finished the run with 6.5 and 9.5 for the day.

@katiejane83 Happy Birthday! Mine is tomorrow, but I would have to run a bit more than 3.5miles4

Feb 27: 3.1 mi
Really beautiful day today, but I am having trouble making the switch to running in warm weather. It was only a little over 70 F but when I tried to run faster than easy pace I felt like my chest was an oven. Just last week the temps were below freezing. I gotta get used to this, it's only going to get worse! I did my first 5k last September in almost 100 degree weather, and although it was pretty bad it didn't kill me. But back then I was walk / running, and it seems like really running generates a lot more heat. Hopefully I'll adjust given time.
Tomorrow is another gym day, so that's it for me for February. I'm pleased to have made goal despite being sick this month. See you all in the new thread!6 -
Thanks @lporter229 ! Happy early birthday to you!

Final Feb Running Update
Week 1 - 34.9
Week 2 - 50.7
Week 3 - 59.3
Week 4 - 57.4
Week 5 (Partial) - 15.1
mtd - 217.4
Exceeded goal of 168 miles for the month....for a short month, odd to see 5 weeks...but 1 and 5 were partial weeks. Very, very unlikely to run tomorrow, so moving on to March. May 6th is getting so close. Good running everyone!
@7lenny7 your mud photos and video are just awesome! not that I would really want to be in a race like that.....but if I was "in the mud" likely would find a way to make the most of it.5 -
@shanaber If it is a shoelace tension issue that makes your feet fall asleep, maybe elastic laces would help? I've got different ones (for convenience): "Nathan Lock Laces" and and "Xtenex laces". To me the Xtenex ones feel a little more elastic, but they are a little annoying to install in the first place.
@7lenny7 Wow, what an epic race, and equally epic race report!! I love the mud photos, but I'm still really glad I didn't have to run 20 miles through that, not even for awesome aid station food & drinks
@hanlonsk I hope your recovery will progress quickly. Half a mile is already better than zero
@theshaleco You are doing great with your monthly goal, nice long run yesterday!!
@Link2Life Wow, week 8 of C25K already? Great running this month
@lporter229 Sorry that your skiing weekend didn't go as planned At least the second half of the weekend sounds nice.
@KatieJane83 Happy birthday!
---
How come you all have warmer weather? Anyone willing to send a few degrees my way? It was -9°C when I woke up, "warmed up" to -5°C during the day, was around -7°C (19°F) when I went running.
Today I wore my ski gloves instead of my running gloves, much better! I've got a sufficient number of layers for the upper body too, but if it stays this cold I might have to try wearing my ski underpants under my running clothes for any longer runs. Today I only stayed out 40min, for that my warmest sweat pants were still okay. Should have run longer, as I'm still 7.5km short of my goal and don't know yet if I'll go running tomorrow...

Beautiful day, broke out the capris for a run this afternoon (although my temps were quite a bit warmer than @sarahthes brave capri wearing). I was plenty warm with my long sleeves. Looks like February is going to finish out with very nice weather, and then March comes in true to form, like a lion. I need to work on my March goal. Not a lot planned for March as of yet, so it's kind of a blank slate.

Well... I have officially gotten 1mile for the month. Good news is I am cleared for up to one mile every other day.
Bad news, also cleared for jumping. Plyometrics are an idea from the devil, I swear.15 -

@katiejane83 Happy Birthday!
@theshaleco Awesome job on completely smashing your goal!
@_nikkiwolf_ If I could send some temps your way, I would...running in shorts and a short-sleeved top in February is just too good an opportunity to pass up.
@Stoshew71 WOOHOO, March Challenge!!! Thank you.
I ran a super-easy run this morning, with the first 7 miles taken real easy, but then on meeting up with the group, the next 5 were taken even easier. One runner in the group is running Myrtle Beach this weekend, so she didn't want to push herself any, and another runner was running for the first time in what feels like a long time, so she was also taking it easy. One more run planned for tomorrow, and if I can get 12 miles in, I'll have achieved waaaay more than I thought I would this month; my leg has healed to the point that I don't even think about it any more.

Nominal challenge goal: 100 miles
Real goals: Transition from recovery to base building by end of month. Give myself a chance to start and complete Boston 2018.
Today's notes – I'm totally failing to keep up with the thread. Most of my screen time is being used on non-running sites. But I haven't stopped running; that's going very well for now. Sunday and today felt pretty normal, and it was warm enough for shorts and a tee both days. I made my nominal February mileage goal today, and I ran 36 miles last week. I think I can say I met my real February goal of transitioning into base building mode.
Don't know if I'll do the March thread, but I will keep running. Gotta give myself a chance to be able to run Boston.

Owie run today. Fell on my stairs this morning and landed on my left hip/butt, and though I thought it was fine, combined with my left hip flexor problem, running ended up being a bit painful. Had to run/walk miles 3 & 4.

I have been so tired since I got the flu. Like - freakin' exhausted all the time. I lay my head down on my desk for a minute today at work and actually fell asleep. Over-training symptoms? Post-viral crap? Doctor Google, of course, tells me its cancer.
Thank goodness I get to sleep until 9-10 am tomorrow. I feel like all I have done is whine this month. Doctor on Thursday if this doesn't get better.

Official Marathon PR: 4:11:28
Next Races (more as I find them):

I was very tired for today's run, not sure why. As soon as I hit ten miles, I stopped and walked home the last 1.5 or so miles. Probably still beat from moving all the furniture yesterday, and might take tomorrow as a rest day.

Goal for Feb.-80k
Total achieved-59.8k
Meh. Beijing was hit with awful air quality for the last bit of the month after being pretty mild all winter. Wasn't much I could do. That said, hit all my long distance goals for the month, so next month's HM race might not be as painful as I expected. Let's see what happens.11
