WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR MARCH 2018

Wendy, good for you not waiting around for your DH to talk. Get out there girl and make new friends. Might find someone else in the same boat. I did read once that men don't like to talk facing each other and women do. If you notice, men will sit next to each other to talk. I've tried this and it does help. If I need to talk, I suggest a car ride. We aren't facing and he can't get up and leave. lol3

Got my hula hooping done. FMD day 3. Kidd Kirby had emergency vet trip yesterday but we think he’ll be ok. Of all my cats ever, he is he most disturbed by car trips in the carrier - he sounded like he was going to die I know I’m helping him when we take him to the vet but I feel like I’m torturing Kidd.
Yesterday also nothing at work went according to script. And it seemed every 5 minutes I had to deal with another complaint. Got out late and was frantic every second while working. I have been feeling very down today, and I think yesterday must be the reason.

Hi friends. I am back and ready to rumble as I said on my home page!
My visit with DH was just wonderful. It couldn't have been more perfect. We spent a lot of time laughing so that made us both feel good. Now I feel just totally satisfied and content.
Rori, I plan to go back the 2nd weekend in June. My friend drove this time, so I was sort of at her mercy as far as the agenda went. I would love to meet up with you next time. I will arrive that Friday evening and leave Monday morning instead of Sunday night. I could not make that drive after visiting til noon by myself...ugh!
I plan to get back into the swing of things, so for now I will just say cheers to all of us! Take care, meg from Omaha where the snow and wind are blowing! it's March!10 -
We had a fantastic lunch with good entertainment. I caught a piece of broccoli that the chef flung into my mouth!
Beth - I'm glad that you got it. After rereading it I noticed how talk to text really messed up some of my words!
Mary from Arizona11 -
Meg, it's good to "hear" optimism in your voice! And so glad you had a good visit with the DH. Hope you and Rori get a chance to get together on your next visit.5

I'm typing on my phone with a dog parked on top of me...
We are supposed to have a nor Easter blow in tomorrow with heavy wet snow .working 9-2 and then home.5 -

Terry - I think you are on the money about side by side talks and when they are held captive in the car, lol.

Today is Unique Names Day!
"Names are important as they help to create our identity to the world and to ourselves. Unique Names Day takes a moment in the year to celebrate those who have these interesting names." I don't meet a lot of other Yvonnes, but there've been enough over the years that I can't call my name unique. Not compared to, say, "Hudson Terraplane" (a childhood friend of Philip's) or "Eldritch Snorklebeast" (a friend's attempt to identify who was selling his info to mailing lists).
Terry - I tried to take a picture of the new hair, but I can't get it to capture the color accurately. It's much brighter than it looks here.
Sue - I'm so glad your grand-daughter's swim coach was on the ball! Hopefully the counselor will be able to teach her some better coping mechanisms.
Machka - Goodness, all that sounds so miserable! Whatever got you, got you good! Wishing you relief soon. At least you'll be well rested!
Meg - Welcome back!
I'm late getting to the list today because our internet went down for several hours and I had work to catch up on by the time it was working again. At least the down time let me wash the dishes, fertilize the citrus, and make a meal plan and shopping list for the rest of the week!

Hello ladies!!
So I'm the wise one eh?? I did buy 6 huge bags f groceries for $145! That's pretty wise of me! Skinny Girls had a product being discontinued. It was 6 packets of truffles! Only $2.99, reg $5 so I have the now 5 packets in a mason jar for my pleasure!
I also bought the two pack of organic red quinoa and brown rice, I can just microwave! The cups are 4.4 oz which seems a lot, so I'm having half for my portions. Another interesting item was orange juice with tumeric and probiotics in it! Hurrah for me!
Lunch was 1 slice of 3 seed sourdough, with 3 turkey slices, 7 or so spinach leaves, with some cucumber spears. I feel like a model. I rock!
I rec'd a huge plastic container with a lid that seals, awhile ago, and I use it for cereal. Bought some granola with bits of dried berries in it. I have a small plastic container in it for measuring. Its great on yogurt!
I'm so sorry Sue, about your DGD. Its so tough, how to address issues like that carefully. My youngest son didn't do the cutting part, but he was addicted to porn. I remember having the most frank conversation with him. It was a coping mechanism with having a sick father. It dulled the mental pain of it all. By no means am I comparing one addiction with the other.
He's better I suppose, now that he's at Nuke school and no time for that!
Hugs everyone!

Did an hour of the Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout. The plan for tomorrow is to go to the water aerobics class
Becca - that rental looks so nice. 5 bedrooms! Oh, I know, you're getting ready for all you MFP friends to come visit. Got ja.
Marcelyn - have you ever gone to walk.jog.fm/popular-workout-songs? From my recollection, they give you the bpms
janetr - that's wonderful that you have such first-hand experience for Sue. I'm sure she'll have the same positive outcome that you had
Laura - happy early birthday
janetr - congrats on that fantastic weight loss
How I wish we didn't have the time change. Mary - doesn't Arizona keep the same time? How do you deal with the change when you go somewhere? I just read that FL has introduced legislation to do away with the changing time which is great. Hope they do it. But that'll be really interesting when we go down there. katla - never say never. I never thought FL would even consider it.
Karen in VA - thanks for the big smile on my face
Rita - feel better fast
Double Stuffed Oreos (some frozen) dunked in a tall glass of milk...almost as good as frozen Thin Mints dunked in milk
Julie - congrats on the running
I had a post all ready and something happened and I lost it.
Exercised and then went to ACMoore to get rhinestones for my latest ceramic "creation", then to Aldi to get milk for Vince. Came home and then went to get the meeting supplies from the hubby who he and his wife set up for me last month. He wanted to just bring them to the next meeting, but there are some things that I need to take care of before the meeting. So I'm glad I have them.
Cake decorating class tonight. I think I have most of the supplies packed in a bag to take with me.

Yep, that is it! We can all build Lego's that my son has!!!

Lannette said, "BUT, I think talking and the human connection is what I miss the most about being retired."
I totally agree with this statement. I really miss having other people to talk with. My DH mainly wants to talk politics and I am just not as interested. He is not interested in the shows I watch on television and the topics I want to discuss. And, I know it's my fault that I have not gotten involved with doing new things where I could talk to others.
Carol in GA
Carol, its tough when the shows you watch are not the same as husbands. What my husband and I do is more out of respect for the other, in that we sit and watch each others shows. I might not like Perry Mason, but as long as my husband doesn't bad-mouth my DIY shows, then he can sit with me. The main thing is that we're doing it together. What I don't want to happen is that we become more like roommates, and less like partners.
I also wait patiently as he goes around to my side of our car, and opens my door. It's what we've trained our sons to do as well. Call me old- fashioned that's OK. Heehee!

I need to be more accountable for my actions. I'm tired of being tired. I still have a lot of life to live.8

And tomorrow I am having a "Girls Day Out" with my middle daughter who wants me to go with her to a bigger town an hour away to look for a ball dress for her.
It is pouring with rain here this morning, so I am going to ride my bike, do stair climbing, my resistence band, some kettlebell, and hula hooping to get my morning exercise in. THen it's office work after I go out to feed the crew.
Good for you!
When my ex-husband and I started drifting apart, and he seemed to lose interest in doing anything with me (he just wanted to lie on the sofa and watch TV) ... I got into racing. Bicycle racing. It was a great outlet for me ... something to burn off my frustrations and a group of people I could talk to about something that interested me.

That's pretty much what prompted me to lose weight when I was just turning 48. I looked at myself in the mirror and thought, "Oh well, I guess this is it. This is how I will look for the rest of my life. This is how I will feel ... tired and lethargic. I guess might as well give up trying to do the things I did when I was younger. I am now "middle aged"."
And then I thought of all the people I know who have been fit and active into their 50s, 60s, 70s ... and I thought, "No! I am going to make the best effort I can to turn this around!" ... and I did!
Now it's 3 years later and I feel better and am more active and doing a lot more than I was 3 years ago.
So yes ... we've got a lot of life to live!

The check is deposited! One step closer10

And the insect or spider bites (we suspect mosquitoes or bull ants) have eased up a bit ... there are 2 that are still giving me issues, but that's better than it was, and I might even be able to put my ring back on tomorrow. I'm debating about doing it now, but that finger still looks quite red and a bit swollen, so maybe not.
Tea tree grows wild here ... might be a native plant ... and there's a whole range of products made from it.
Thursday Plantation is one of the main brands: http://www.thursdayplantation.com/
I have different products, but used the antiseptic cream.
Work this morning ... university later this afternoon. The course I'm taking is eLogistics.

Lanette - good luck on the job front!
Just came back from the cake decorating class. I did learn a few things. The instructor told us to bring A LOT of things that we never used. She kept trying to get me to buy the Wilton already made icing. That stuff, to me, is NASTY. It may have the right consistency, but I'd be embarrassed to give it to anyone. I definitely prefer the homemade stuff. Why, I don't know, but the recipe that they give you, you have to water down. Why don't they just give you the recipe and have you add some extra water? I had some white icing left from the class and I think I'll just freeze it and use it for the next class (in addition to making more). If I tell the instructor that's what I'm doing or did, she'd have a fit. So I just won't tell her. I really made the icing Sat but I told her that I made it yesterday. I didn't have anywhere near the time. She thought I should have made it today.
I admit that I had some of the icing. Homemade is so good compared to what you get at the store. I used some of hers for one thing and threw it away.
Off to take a shower and then bed. Nite all.

I will never get caught up, lol! I am so trying to get to know everybody by their posts, but please bear with me...
That said, by the time Friday rolls around, I will have my first off days in 11 days. Thankfully my job keeps me on my feet more often than not, so the fact that I haven’t been to the gym in a week is a non-issue. I am a patient transport supervisor at a local hospital, and we’re super short staffed, so I’ve been pusing beds instead of flying a desk.
Re-injured my knee on Sunday, so am gym benched at least until the first of next week. I lift heavy at home, when not restricted, and take advantage of my gym’s group classes. Currently Hot Hula is my favorite.
I have enjoyed reading everyone’s posts and will try to keep up.
Julie in eastern N.C.
ETA: I saw several hula-hooping posts, but can’t remember who. I have a weighted hula hoop. Will you pm me and share any and al hooping strategies you are using?
FYI, for those that do t know, Hot Hula is dancing and not hooping.9 -
Another doctor appointment and more blood tests for Jake so more sitting this morning in offices and waiting rooms.
*15,000 steps
*160 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
*166 minutes riding the exercise bike6 -
Oooh I exercised/danced like I was auditioning for the gong show last night!!! Put my mp3 player in my bra cleavage and put my ear buds in. I had my tights on, so not totally naked! I did a lot of air boxing, and running in place like in the movie "Flash dance"! In fact I danced for 45 minutes. My husband was in the bath and was listening to 30 minute radio broadcasting shows. He said I did one shows time, plus about 15 minutes longer. Woke up this morning to sore arches, but throughout the course of today, its passed.

Thank you all for the encouraging words on my loss.
I had a terrific day and to make it even better, my 24 year old grandson, he lives in San Antonio TX, called to tell me he is getting married June 16th. I am so thrilled for him. He's fought a LOT of hardships to get to this place. When I met with the psychiatrist before my gastric bypass surgery, he asked why I wanted to lose weight I told him one reason was my grandson, at the age of 16, told me to take care of myself because I had to be around to dance at his wedding, the doctor said what better reason could there be. I am happy to say I will be there in June with bells on!!!!
Love to you my friends
