By the time I've cycled a couple of miles, it's raining a lot harder and I am seriously beginning to doubt the wisdom of my decision. But, I figure that as I'm already wet, I may as well carry on . . .
So on I go. It eventually stops raining, after six miles and I did the remaining 14 miles without a drop of rain in sight.
Got home, put the bike away and the skies opened up.
But at least I by the time I got home I'd dried out. Nothing worse than getting home soaking wet
I have never met you but I thought of you when the snow fell. What a strange community this is!15 -
No idea where it came from, as I didn't wear a new outfit or swimsuit for my workouts today, but I got several unsolicited compliments/inquiries from others about how they've seen me working hard and my hard work is paying off. It's a good feeling!18

Does that count? I also didn’t want the McDonalds either!
Fantastic self-control always counts! Especially when we're talking McDonald's fries!11 -
I just skipped a jeans size! I knew the 18s were baggy, so I was looking everywhere for the size 16s that I knew I had from after my last pregnancy. Couldn’t find them, so I decided I’d at least try the 14s and wear my stretchy pants as a back up. I got the 14s buttoned! Not super comfy yet, but I’m not going to dig for the lost pair anymore.
On a related note, which is more rewarding: fitting back into clothes that you used to be able to wear, or needing to buy smaller clothes?16 -

For me I think equal as well. As I started to slip past overweight and into obese a few years ago I also started to slip out of 'normal' clothes into every version of leggings + huge shirts under the sun. Not only was my wardrobe limited, I also didn't invest too much in it. I was just trying not to be naked. I'm thrilled now to both be able to get back into the pieces I'd previously thought of as an investment, as well as to be put into a position to invest a little more. No indiscriminate buying but a curation process. It's an extra chore I'm glad to have.

That was sweet of you.
We had a lot (for us) of snow a couple of weeks ago and I ended up cycling through a bit of a blizzard by accident. It was dry and sunny at home, so I went off on the bike only to find, three miles from home that there was a bit of snow falling - not enough to be a bother, so I carried on, not thinking about the huge hill ahead and that it was bound to be snowing at the top. I should have turned around and gone home but being me, I carried on.
By the time I was getting to the top of the hill it was a blizzard. The road was covered and my tires are not meant for snow. I was halfway by this point so figured that I might just as well carry on. I was terrified though, mainly of falling off. The snow was probably 6" deep so I was cycling, very slowly, along the car tracks.
The bike was covered in snow, I looked like a snowman, it was just awful. I had to stop a couple of times to knock the snow off my clothes as I was getting cold as well. Got back down the hill and found it dry and sunny again. That particular route normally takes an hour but that day it took an hour and a half. Very scary. When I got back indoors, my children were, "Why have you got icicles in your HAIR?" and didn't believe me about the snow.
We then had too much snow to do anything much for a while and cycling would have been way too dangerous, so I was restricted to walking for the best part of a week. But walk I did otherwise I'd have gone crazy indoors14 -
I bought a new skirt on the weekend and I got it 2 sizes smaller! I tried on a skirt the same style, cut and fit the day after christmas in that size and it was way too tight and barely zipped! Now it's a perfect fit!13

When my husband came come from work lastnight he swept me off my feet ... Literally he just came in a picked me up. That hasnt happened since i was 18. Im 37 now!34

Saw an old neighbor yesterday and he commented on how good I looked. His wife didn't recognize me and he said, "it's because she lost all of this!" and shook his belly. Gave me a good laugh - especially because I know I still have more to lose! That belly's not gone yet!16

I made the competitive softball team at my work, and ran the bases. I started out morbidly obese and unable to run, at all. I had an intense fear of being injured. Running again felt amazing.22

I reached one of my weight loss goals this past weekend- down 18lbs16

Sorry to harp on, but completed my 25 minute run at the end of Week 6 (c25k) and am falling in love with running - it's not fast, it's not pretty but I found myself getting up to run in the morning today instead of waiting to get home from work and I've felt so good throughout the day - no mid-afternoon slump. Also, lost my first pound in ages, so hopefully my poor body is getting over the shock of having to haul it's lardarse off the couch18

Started tracking measurements in mid/late January to keep me motivated. Well for many weeks-no change even though the scale was slowly dropping, then BAM the last 2 weeks i'm down 7.5 inches overall!18

Walked almost 5km there and back to meet a friend for lunch. Wouldn’t have done that a couple of weeks ago, would have driven and not given it a moment’s thought. Feels good.23

A pair of jeans I bought around Christmas time are now TOO big.. they're a size 4. No way am I a size 2?!24

Hubby & I went to a fund-raiser last night. Chef's Night Out--benefits the local vocational school's culinary program. It involves a huge gymnasium with booths from all the local restaurants. You pay for entry and then eat and drink all you want. Most of the stations served some sort of appetizer-sized portion, but there was A LOT of food! I was proud of myself--I walked the perimeter first, seeing what all was available and only took the things I really liked. I had one very small piece of lasagna fritta, a roast beef slider and a cinnamon roll pancake (so yummy!!) I also had one white wine and then switched to water. Had a very, very small slice of cheesecake and that was it!! I don't even want to think about what I consumed at the same event last year!!!!!!!!!! NSV is that I didn't feel the least bit deprived AND I didn't have that awful, stuffed feeling either.28

My most recent non scale victory was when I could wear my wedding ring again. I had taken a bad birth control that made me gain 50lbs in 2 months after our wedding. I refused to get my ring resized. After 4 years of me trying everything to lose weight I finally found the right trainer who gave me the best tools to lose. On Valentine’s day, I tried my wedding ring on again and it fit. I started crying.34

I accomplished my goal of getting my exercise in before work this week, instead of waiting until after work to do it. Too many excuses and non-excuse derailments if I wait all day - it depends a lot on not being scheduled for last-minute calls at the end of the day for work. It feels great to have already accomplished something before I even head to the office! The toughest part in starting a morning routine for me is just getting started, so I got through that hard part :-)18

Heard that. It's hard to get into that early morning groove. But it is the best way for me to stick to a regular exercise routine. Good on ya'!

Something that I’ve thought about the past few days that’s more of a mental NSV is that every other time I’ve done this, I sweat the small stuff way too much. This time, I’m a lot more flexible. For example, while in the past I may have panicked about the idea of an impromptu lunch or dinner out, now I am finding it easier to go with the flow and not either blow my entire day or sit there worrying about the calories and not be able to enjoy myself. I think that signifies a big difference for me in how I’m doing things this time. A lifestyle change means things happen and I’m not sacrificing my social life or time with those I love because of food.26

Fit into another pair of pre pregnancy pants today! Can't wait to put all of these maternity clothes away and go shopping in my closet!19

I'm wearing a t-shirt today that I haven't been able to wear in about 7-8 years without too many belly rolls for public display.
Also, a couple of weeks ago I accidentally bought some jeans 2 sizes too small. I've gone back to a couple of different branches of the store to exchange them but that particular colour and texture of the denim no longer seems to be available. I've decided to make them my goal jeans, and maybe I should put that in the mini-goals thread but the NSV is that I know I'll get there eventually. The knowledge of being in control of the process is great for peace of mind.24 -
Had a day of he hungry horrors and I gave in a bit and snacked more, but NSV is that I am not worried as I know I have these days once in a while and then get back on track23

I made it to over 22,000 steps yesterday without any major effort---a 50 minute walk at lunch, took the stairs to my office in the morning, and mowed maybe 1/4 of the lawn. Here's hoping I can repeat it today.21

Today is my Fativersary! One year ago today I weighed in at my highest weight and started logging. The SV is that I'm down from last year; the NSV is that I'm here, one year later, with no plans to quit!
Sticking it out hasn't been very difficult, and has truly become second nature. I love and appreciate all of you on here! Thank you for the support, motivation, and accountability!59 -
Last night, my dad told me I 'look like [I'm] getting "littler".' The phrasing took a moment to sink in but once I realized what he said, I said thanks and that I'm trying. It was a little awkward mostly 'cause I could tell he was awkward saying it (he's always been normal weight and I don't think he's comfortable just blurting out "have you lost weight?" Since I'd just met my first scale-goal this week (lost 7% of my starting body weight), it was an extra special moment.30
