Admit it. You're already planning to go for the "truly crazy" thing. SO... what is it???

Unless I missed something, Miss Polska has only been with us for a short time, and she already knows how crazy you are, and she seems to be correct.
You didn't miss anything! I'm pretty new to this group, and relatively new to running as well (2 years). I can't imagine running the distances some of you are talking about, but it's fun reading about it.
It's been a rough week for me and I'm stressed out. Missed my run yesterday due to meetings that all went long, but getting out there today helped a lot.
They released the marathon route for May, and it's totally different from previous years, where they pretty much were selling it as Poland's "most difficult road marathon". This year the route is actually kind of "flat" and avoids most of the city to do 2 loops around a lake and then back to the newly remodeled track and field stadium. It's a disappointment for people using it to train for mountain ultras or who want the bragging rights, but I don't mind. A marathon for me is HARD, even without a difficult course!6 -

Where i work, crazy is a complement. I get told I'm crazy a lot. The 2019 idea depends on this year and what I think of my hundo in 2 weeks and what I think of my september 50, since to do that series, I'd be doing this hundo again and doing the rest of the hundo that the 50 is the second half of.
Also, to put my crazy in more perspective, my 2 year runniversary was end of feb/beginning of march. Keep running and keep pursuing your goals and you'll be amazed at how far you can go.8 -

Freaking exhausted today due to being up half the night with a chatty, snotty-nosed preschooler (he was cheerfully too stuffed up to sleep). No work tomorrow so my plan is to get a decent sleep (no matter how long that takes) and run tomorrow morning instead. Then Saturday is the last long run before my mini taper next week and half next Saturday.
Carb fest potluck at work today isn't helping either...6 -
Im in the mood to write/blog tonight but have writer's block. Is there anytjing about my running, trsil, ultra, hundo training, that any of you all would be interested in? I write for me, but want it to be useful0

No run today. More meetings.0

Haven't been here much this month - just too much going on in my life. I have gotten a few runs in but not nearly enough to make my goal.
Daughter is home to celebrate her Dad's big birthday and I waited all day to run with her and then go to training but she got stuck trying to get into LA to see friends and still isn't home yet. Oh well - life gets in the way! I am hoping to maybe get a short run in tomorrow (I need it!) but it is my last day at work and I have meetings and things to wrap up and a presentation to do as my final assignment. Here I come early retirement and running whenever I want to!! WhooHoo!!

I took an unplanned rest day yesterday. The weather was yucky and tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful and I will have the day off, so I moved that run to tomorrow. I had a nice 4.4 mile run today. I think I am going to be shy of my goal this month. Missing that long run on Sunday really hurt, but not as much as my back hurt. I could not have run on Sunday and I know I would have made things worse if I had tried. My back feels fine now so I know I made the right choice. I could make tomorrow a long run, but I don't think I want to change my plan that much. I may just run as much as I want tomorrow and see where that gets me.

@lporter229 great job on your miles. That's impressive! I had a run with my Stella this morning too. I call her my reluctant and complain-y run buddy, the kind you always need to keep encouraging "you can do it, come on!". Today she was doing really well for the first half. We got to a busy intersection and I pressed the button, which has a voice signal that says "Wait!". She pays more attention to that voice than to me, so she immediately got in a down and I was very proud of her. I made a move to get my phone out of my pocket while we waited, and switched the leash in my hands, and she took my movement as the sign we were ready to go - so in one quick motion she leaped up and yanked the leash out of my hand and started into the intersection. I yelled STOP!! a couple of times and fortunately she did and I grabbed her leash and yanked her back to safety. OMG. We were so lucky that no cars were in that lane at the moment and we didn't get hit. My heart nearly stopped.
The rest of the way home she was dragging, clearly done with whole thing, while I tried to recover. Obviously this was my fault for not paying attention but it's always an adventure with this one.
I pictured Marlon Brando yelling “Stella!” Lol
Glad no one was hurt.4 -
First run with my new shoes went very well... surprisingly well, I almost don't believe it.
They are Hoka One One Clifton 4 shoes - my prior road shoes (I might take them out a few more times as I can never get rid of shoes until they are totally dead) were Hoka Clifton 3's, and my gym shoes are also Hoka Clifton 3's (treadmill shoes have a lot of life left in them). The Hoka Clifton line just works very well for me for road shoes, and I'm glad to see these seem to be better than the prior model. Up until now, I thought the originals were best. But these seem to be just as good as the original Clifton's. I can't quite tell exactly why, but it seems like these are just a little bit lighter. Maybe it is a small weight difference, maybe it is in my head. Either way, this is good!

Mar 29: 4.3 very gentle easy miles
My calf is still blown up like a balloon but doesn't hurt - ran very gently nevertheless on wet trails. I really needed the trail run! We saw a rainbow, were honked at by a momma deer, flown over by a great blue heron, and serenaded by a small yellow headed bird I never saw before which I need to look up before I forget. It's supposed to dip below freezing again next week, but right now everything is blooming and singing.7 -
@shanaber, I didn't realize that you were retiring! I hope it's a planned retirement and not forced.
Enjoy it! I'm hoping to retire in 9 to 12 years.
@7lenny7 - definitely planned. DIH is a 'bit' older than me and should have retired before, definitely by now, but he is enjoying the working/consulting he is doing. We agreed I would retire when he did so we could enjoy doing things together so I retired as planned and told him it was fine if he wanted to work a bit more as long as it doesn't interfere with any of our plans it helps that his employer can't find anyone to do what he does and is willing to pay him well and let him come and go. Also he has Medicare now so he doesn't need my insurance any longer and I am going with Cobra for now... Honestly I am pretty darned excited!13 -
Ran 22 km this morning, and this afternoon I painted all the edges & joins in my room ready to do the walls tomorrow.
Productive day!

I'd like to hear more about the trials and tribulations of different surfaces of trails, and the surfaces of your favourite training trails, and that sort of thing.0 -

@rheddmobile a bird nerd would very much like to know what the little yellow-headed bird is.
Got stopped in the corridor at work yesterday by a guy who said, "excuse me, I've been meaning to ask you for ages, but did you run a half marathon in Peabody back in November?". Turns out he ran it too and finished about five minutes in front of me. He recognized me, but it was one of those times where you see someone you think you know, but it's not where you normally see them and it took him ages to work out where he knew me from.
A 10k treadmill run for me last night, and then tomorrow it's the first official Jamaica Pond parkrun. After 14 test runs in snow, ice, rain and whatever other New England weather is out there, we are finally ready to roll. There will be cake!

0329-4k Total-65.8k Goal-80k
Dreadmill yesterday after work. Would have done more but ran out of time.
Going to fall short of my goal again this month but not by much, planning a 10k tomorrow morning. On a business trip to Shanghai at the moment, and they've got a paved red running track for loooong stretches along the river (a news article said 25km last July and still expanding). Awesome stuff, will check it out tomorrow morning.5 -

The rain was relentless again yesterday. Steady downpour all day long. I was supposed to run 12 miles after work, but it was really coming down and I just could not make myself go out in it, so I went to the gym instead. I did 37 minutes of cross training on the bike and 30 minutes of weight lifting. That was supposed to be my work out for today, so I will be running my 12 miles after work instead. I hope it quits raining before then or I am going to be regretting not sucking it up and getting it done yesterday.6 -

10 miles on Wednesday and 5 miles on Thursday brings March total to 132. Legs feeling OK post marathon. Have a 5K on April 7th and would like to try for a PR of under 22 min. Conditions probably not the best for this race as I will have just finished a 12 hour night shift, but I will give it a shot. No run today except week 3 day 3 of C25K with my daughter.6

Day off from work = extra run day! Managed to get 9 hilly miles in before heading to hair appointment. One of those “how much can I get done” kind of days but also making time to remember what this day means to me as a Christian.
I’m now 12 miles short of goal so I guess I will be aiming for at least that tomorrow.
@shanaber - congratulations on your retirement!
@katharmonic - thank goodness Stella didn’t run into the path of a car!
@rheddmobile - hope your calf/knee issues get worked out soon1 -
The t-shirt design for the race @MNLittleFinn and I are doing in a couple of weeks, the Zumbro Endurance Runs, has just been revealed. It's definitely going to be the best race shirt I've ever received! The race director creates these designs himself.

@7lenny7 thanks for sharing that on here. I saw that and I am totally psyched for it!
On a side note, I had another piece of my ultra puzzle fall into place this morning from an unexpected place. less than 14 days until I toe the line... by 2 and a half hours....LOL4
