I am so glad it worked out! As Ruby has gotten older, she's been more of a loner dog and has always been jealous when my boy and I touch. She wants to be in the middle of it lol so we knew we needed a new puppy soon before she got much older. We were gonna get another big dog but figured they would play too rough and Ruby wouldn't learn to be more gentle (we're wanting little ones soon). I am so glad they have bonded! Ruby even protects Penny from Loki (kitty) who is still unsure of her. If Loki hisses at her, Ruby runs up and tries to mediate.
Animals are truly the best
ETA: I think Penny loves Ruby more than me and now I'm the jealous one
