I had a nice talk with my middle sister yesterday. She has a 2500 sq ft home, yet is confined to the basement room, and bath. Her two daughters, the sperm donor for the eldest daughter, and three kids live upstairs. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large kitchen, dining room, living room, and family room for them. I told her yesterday that she should walk thru with stickers just labeling items and furniture that mean something to her. Just enough to live comfortably in a one bedroom place. She is paying $1300 for a small room in a huge home!! She never goes upstairs, uses the kitchen, because its always messy. And now, it seems that with her eating out all the time, she is acquiring lots of trash in her area. Its really a toxic situation.
So I tell her what I think, but nothing changes. Accept the things I cannot change.. Isn't that a piece of the 12 steps? So I accept her, and she friended me again!!! Yeah!!! I have realized she will never follow the script in my head of responses I wish to hear. How's that for being a bit overpowering. Is it just females that have the need to control their environment, or just my loony family? My dear Mom used to cook and absolutely mauvalous meal, then apologize before anyone had a chance to take a first bite! "Oh it might be a bit dry, sorry about that"! Once she was micromanaging a meal with my kids and husband at the table. She started to put gravy on a slice of meat on my sons plate. My son said no thank you. My dear Mom said, oh you will want some gravy. Again, he said no thank you. That time dear husband piped up, "he said he does not care for some gravy". Oh I remember the awkwardness!!!!!!
If my mother could physically chew our food when we were kids, she would have.....

Hey y'all. I've been reading the posts for the last 20 minutes trying to get current with everyone and I'm still not sure what's going on. I'll get there.
I'm trying to remember what I've already told you all so I don't repeat myself. My husband and I are literally just a few days from having our empty nest back after almost 5 1/2 years.
We are so ready. We will still be very involved with our grandkids as I provide childcare while my daughter works. But, we will have time together again. I will have time to myself again. And my daughter will get to learn what it's really like to be a single parent because I won't be there to rescue her. I'm anticipating good things.
Do any of you sew, quilt or crochet?

I was really sick last night until about 7 am. Stomach flu realllllllly bad. So dehydrated my wrinkles have wrinkles. Dr called in a prescription, actually a compound, that you spray on your wrist. Must have worked because it stopped the upchucking @nd diarrhea.
Michele- the party is on the 7th of April. I was thinking last night I am so glad it isn’t this weekend.
Karen- I can’t find a security alert from MFP.
So tired.

Didn't make it to the gym this morning, slept in a bit, then had to take our cat into the vet for the last time. When I spoke to the office staff yesterday, they said an exam would have to be done first so then I was worried that they would decide she was okay and sell me a bunch of pills and send her home. Thankfully the vet agreed that she was "all used up" and she gave her the shot. I was able to hold her while it was being done, so that was nice. Cost was relatively reasonable too, we've had two other cats cremated, one died at home, the other was at the vet's office and the price seemed to be pretty much the same, as far as I can remember. Came home and started clearing out all signs of her. Also did a good vacuum and then washed the floors. Did the floors by hand as I wanted to make sure I got up all the bits of food that were stuck on the floor. She never was a very neat eater, needless to say it didn't get better with age! lol Anyway, I figure the vacuuming, up and down the stairs several times and crawling around on the floor probably burned enough calories so I can not fret about not going to the gym. It has been hard not eating tho, I'm very much an emotional eater, and today has definitely been emotional. Tried to post a photo, but I don't have many photos on this computer, everything is on my old computer. I really need to move some stuff from one to the other and then maybe get rid of the other one. It didn't really die, but it refuses to connect to the internet anymore. I think that will be my project for Sunday. Tomorrow will be spent cooking, for the most part, as our son, daughter in law and grandson will be coming over for dinner. So looking forward to seeing our little munchkin! Don't get to see him nearly enough, but that's just the way it goes, I guess.
Karen, thanks for the security alert info! Done and done!
Katie, the bathroom looks amazing! I think I'd be coming up with all kinds of excuses to just go in there and admire it, if it were in my bathroom! lol
Heather, sure hope you hear about your potential new house soon! Good for you for clearing out stuff before the move, I wish we would have gotten rid of more than we did.
Sue, hope you are feeling better! I had food poisoning once that I'm sure of, not sure what the second time was about, but it sure was not fun! Definitely not an experience that I need to repeat and not one that I would wish even on an enemy!
Becca, sure hope you get to sign electronically soon! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! And that wasn't easy while I was washing the floors, let me tell you! lol
Grace, I do some quilting and crocheting. I'm pretty much an amateur at both, even tho I've been crocheting for years. Some stuff I find easy, other stuff, YIKES! Attempting to do Rudolph and his friends right now. Have Rudolph's head done, it actually looks pretty good. It's going to be an interesting process, if nothing else!
Machka, still thinking of you and your hubby, hoping that all is still going well.
Wendy, you are doing such a special thing for the young lady that you are helping ride. I'm sure she will never forget your kindness.
I've been reading, but my brain isn't remembering, so hugs to those who need them, congrats to those celebrating, and welcome to the newbies!
Hope everyone has a great day/night!

Evelyn - hugs on the loss of your cat. Losing our fur babies is awful!!
Okie3 -
Evelyn, awe so sorry about your cat.... Hugs!!! I still think of my cat, and other cats I've mentally rented throughout my life.
So had a wonderful talk with my eldest sister that's moving from Boardman OR to Yakima WA. She was having a mini meltdown, so I'm glad I talked her down! We decided it would be wonderful to move and for a month, our loony middle sister would have no idea how to find us. Sisters, yeah, I'm not proud of it, but given opportunity, will trash the outed sister when given half a chance!! Awful right?!!
Husband sent an email to the realtor guy, and he's working on it, looking at the lease being sent tomorrow!
I'm giving a lot of my danger foods away to the nice family with 9-12 people, ( depending on who's home, and friends), down the street. I just bought a jar of pickles so bummed about that! Also have those cartons of soup broths. I can totally see pickle juice all over.... So I just eliminate the issue. Non refrigeration food will be fine!
Not even thinking about food prep these days, just eating stuff we have. Desires are out the window. I do want a taco today though.....
Hugs to ladies that wish them!

Did Full Body Challenge and Core Secrets DVDs. The plan for tomorrow is to take the deep water class.
Volunteered at the Green Room, stopped at Big Lots but they still didn’t have Vince’s soda. After exercise tomorrow I’ll check once more and, if they still don’t have it, I’ll have to buy soda at Food Lion since I have a rain check for there. Hmmmm…maybe instead of the 12 bottles that the raincheck is for, I’ll just get 4 and hope that they have the soda he likes on sale soon and get another raincheck for the remainder. Then to AC Moore to get a frame for the diamond dotz pic that I made, only I think I’ll take that frame back and get a larger one and a mat. Vince said he can cut the mat down. Then Aldi, now home
Want to start trenching the front yard tomorrow to get ready to put in the drainpipe. I DO NOT want what happened this past winter to happen again.
Evelyn – I’m so sorry for you and your kitty. She probably feels bad when she can’t control herself.
DJ – what a pleasant surprise! You’ve sure been busy, lady. Hope things slow down enough so you can get in here more often
Ruth – welcome back
Barbara – you know something, it seems when I have a lot of refined carbs, my hot flashes are much worse. Last night even tho I was wearing a short sleeved nightgown, I was sweating like crazy. Been eating better today
Okie – feel better fast. Fortunately, the weather is nice here, just very windy
I did lousy on my Lenten sacrifice to only eat when I’m hungry. Part of the problem was that I would eat even tho I wasn’t hungry, but knowing that if I didn’t have something to eat then I’d be starving in a few hours when I wouldn’t be home.
M – thinking of you and hoping to hear good news soon
Suebdew – so glad you’re somewhat better.
Evelyn – (((HUGS)))

KJ: I'm glad you found the right combination to keep your tummy happier.
Felicia: What an ordeal for you and the family. (((HUGS)))
Heather: We have a storage unit. It currently holds a vintage car, two boats, and a bunch of junk. At one point it held three boats and all the other things I mentioned. Are storage units available in England?
Grace: Good news about getting your empty nest back. I hope it goes smoothly.
Becca: I am so happy for you! I love Whidbey Island; it is a wonderful place. I hope you'll be very happy there.
We had a lovely sunny day, today. I went to the stable and Arrow had transformed into a ginormus big Jack *ss. I'm going back tomorrow with a strategy from my teacher. I have hope of a better time with Arrow tomorrow.
Love to all.

Morning everyone
Evelyn
Sorry to hear about your cat
Allie
Sending you hugs and wishing you peace
Felicia
My MIL had a house in the country, she kept everything - olfd glass jars thinking they were of some value. The time came when they could not maintain it anymore, so it needed to be sold. To this day she thinks everything went to a good samariatian place but in reality I had 5 very large skip bins out the front and had all the grandchildren called up to help and everything went in skip bins including my vaccum after using it up there (yuk!). I think they are brought up in a time that nothing ever was thrown way - someone needed it somehere.
I managed 12425 steps yesterday - will probably not get as much in today as it is Easter Friday here

Evelyn, so sorry about your cat. Our furry friends never stay long enough.
Jake is feeling stronger today but I am urging him to take it easy except for walking a bit more. He is walking about 4,000 steps a day.
My stats for today:
*17,000 steps
*167 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
*178 minutes riding the exercise bike
*line dance class
Yesterday was the last day of changing the sheets every other day and clean clothing and towels every day so I finally have a reprieve from all the laundry.
Allie, hugs to you. I hope you can find a way to say no to all the people who are making demands on you.

I have a heavy heart this evening. My good friend, neighbor and crafting cohort was notified by the doctor late this afternoon that the biopsy done Tuesday is malignat, her right breast. Joyce is 74 and not in the best of health. She has COPD and has been on oxygen full time for years. Please remember her in prayer and/or send healing positive thoughts for her. She has an appointment with the surgeon April 17th.
We, Joyce and I , got our wares set up and displayed at the craft store which opens Monday, April 2nd.

I know everyone wants to hear good news ... no one more than I.
But now we wait. He remains in the coma and I try to figure out what I need to do. All the things I need to cancel. All the forms I need to fill in.
I just keep praying and hoping and crying more tears than I knew I had.
M in Oz20 -
Oh JanetR, I am so sorry, you have a beautiful new granddaughter then you get this news. From my nursing days, I know the trouble she lives with the COPD and then she has the breast cancer. I hope you can find happiness everyday from that beautiful little girl. I can just imagine Mia and her new sister, they will be wonderful.
Evelyn,mi am so sorry about losing your cat. As a cat Mom, I know how you must feel.
I am so glad I made the decision to have a kitten with having my adult female cat. I just felt she was slowing down and needed a kitten to play with. Well, I didn't get the new kitten and adult cat to play but they do make a nice combination to be companions. They look vent lay together on my bed or the couch. But then there are the times when Melody will be just laying there. And Mozart goes over and does something to terrorize her. Melody is usually the one who leaves the cat fight but tonight Mozart was the one to leave. Maybe he was afraid of me yelling at him. He doesn't like when I point my finger at him. That is when I mean business!
Charlie still doesn't want to think about doing a will. I know it will cost money, I don't think he knows how much. My sister and I went with my Mom when she did her will and we were shocked at the cost. He found a 'do your own will' at Walmart or somewhere and he thinks that will work. Yes, I think it will work for some of it but when it comes to property such as a house, I don't think it will. But I think he is still dealing with his feelings about his sister's death and there are so many bad feelings there. I think us going to see our daughter and grand kids next week will help some. I think some of you have read of 'The Ark Encounter'. We are going to see that next Tuesday. He knows that I and our daughter have really wanted to go there. Plus since my brother works there, it will be half price. And my brother will be our own personal guide. But Charlie has so many issues in accepting anything Biblical. So he will have issues with the while thing. I know my daughter can help him with a lot and according to how much he verbalized it during the tour, my brother all help. I just don't want my daughter and my brother to be to heavy on him. I guess I need to let them know in advance.
You all know I am just infatuated about my two grand daughters. And I just love my Ellie! I love Trinity also, mshe is a lovely, no beautiful 16 old and I am excited to see where she goes in life. But Ellie is just so outgoing and extroverted. Today was the school talent show. She is in the 5th grade. Last year she was a magician and did real well. This year she was a ventriloquist. Her Dad did a little bit of this when he was a boy and still has his doll. So Ellie used his doll. A lady came up to Christina after the show and told her how wonderful she thought did. She said that she thought Ellie was good enough that she could actually make it into show business. Now this is not what Ellie has voiced that she has wanted to do. She wants to go into something like engineering. But this lady had two tickets to see Jeff Dunham and really felt moved to give them to Ellie and a parent so that she could actually no see a professional ventriloquist in person and maybe see if she could see him in person. So Christina is already working on this and if so Ellie will bring her doll with her so she can perform for him. Of course if they get to see him back stage I am sure one of his dolls would be available. If dolls the right word? But I am really proud of my girl. She picked up archery this year and is best in her age group. If she keeps that up, she may be able to get a scholarship. I know the college that my daughter and SIL went to has an archery program. Trinity is touring it for a potential college and I a sure Ellie will to. One of the schools Trinity would like to tour is one of the colleges here, University of Evansvillle. It has a very well known drama department but it is extremely difficult to get into. I don't think she would have any difficulty getting into the musical department but not the drama. She wants to go into musical theatre. She has a pipe dream of Broadway but I think it is going to be a hard and long drop for her. She has never had any formal music lessons, can't play any musical instrument and has a nice voice for her age and has been in several musicals but it was when she was in 4th and 5th grade. Having the role of Mayze in the 4th grade just won't go far on a college application. But I love her so and want her to be happy in life. And oh, it would be so wonderful to have her right here in town for college. But Uof E is also a very expensive private college. So living here in town would not be that much of a draw when it is that expensive. She could live here if she wanted but we would have to set rules. And we have never had any history of setting rules with her since she has never stayed here since she was in the first grade for one week.
Becca, I am so happy for you. You must be just dancing all over. And this is close enough to your husbands doctors?
Mascha, I continue to pray for your husband. I also want blood absorbed from my stroke so I can get rid of my symptoms.
Love you all, Joyce, Indiana4 -
Machka - when I'm overwhelmed I find it best to reach out for help. Do you have a cycling friend who would sit down with you and work out a strategy for the practical things? Just another person's imput can be helpful.
Sending big hugs.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx6 -
Machka - I feel for you in this extremely challenging time. Few of my waking hours pass without my thoughts and good wishes going your way.
Rori - You wrote that you'd hung up a map of the world in your zen den. I'm curious, does it show Svalbard (Spitsbergen)? Many maps omit latitudes north of Norway and south of South Africa, leaving off the polar regions - the most important parts! :grumble: I remember visiting the Tucson AZ editorial office of an international journal I once worked for. They asked me to show where I lived on the "world map" they had hanging on their wall. I couldn't, because it wasn't there!
Grace - I used to crochet a bit, mainly window dressings. Here's my most ambitious project: lace edging that I later sewed onto the best bits of an inherited handwoven sheet to make a valance.
That crocheting project was so small and light I could take it everywhere with me. Practical! This picture is from my tiny pied-à-terre in Stockholm. Our ladies in the Pacific Northwest will recognize the Chilkat-inspired artwork to the right of the window. That's my dear middle sister's work.
We're out at the island place in northern Norway now. This is the track my husband made walking up to the house with snowshoes. You can only just see the tops of the fenceposts above the snow. I had no snowshoes, so at times I ***er-hmm*** probed the depth of the snow.
As some may recall, the snow was three feet deep last week. The porch shows clearly how much new snow has gathered since then. (I channeled Terry as I shoveled ) At one end of the house we've got a big six-foot drift. And another snowstorm is headed our way even as I type. The grandchildren will be delighted!
