So, this is very confusing! To lose fat, my macronutrient ratio should be around 35-40% protein. But I weigh only 116 pounds and that is well over a gram per pound of body weight! What should I really do?

Who said your protein should be 35-40%? No real need to eat that much protein unless you want to.4

how much weight are you trying to lose if you're only 116lbs currently?
Just somewhere around 4 pounds, lose fat and build some muscle I guess, trying to go on a cut! I'm very short, just 5ft!0 -

High protein helps with body comp a little. As long as you hit your lucine threshold, that's enough protein for muscle growth.

newbie gains are for those in a deficit and are either returning to lifting, have a lot of fat and weight to lose or are new to lifting. I would recomp which means eat in maintenance(usually or a very small deficit) and lift heavy. recomp takes time though. cutting is usually just for fat loss. recomp you can build muscle and lose fat. for a woman its harder to build muscle even in a surplus compared to a man. so if you dont already do this find a progressive lifting program,eat and maintenance and give it time.
