@jilliancreates I don’t remember if you are doing keto, sorry if this doesn’t apply. If you are, you want to hit your protein macro not calories. Target = protein, Limit = carbs, Lever = fat. I used to frequently eat fat to avoid over eating because it keeps you satisfied. I didn’t pay much attention to calories. Since I am fat adapted, I am frequently 200 or more calories below the number my app has assigned. I was driving myself crazy for awhile trying to match ALL of the numbers including calories. Sorry this is so long.2

Slow and steady. I'm going to keep riding this wave. I think I'm very close to my final weight goal. I'm going to start thinking in terms of what I'm doing AFTER I reach my weight goal. I have not returned to heavy lifting since I hurt my back, but I will (soon). As far as numbers go, I want to see if I can keep my lean body mass where it is (or increase) while simultaneously reducing my body fat percentage. I'm at just under 16%, but I'd like to see 12%. I want to know what my abs look like! I'm going to start including my scale's body fat percentage reading (even though I know it's not accurate) with my daily check-in.

5/18 = 192.6 (no change). Basketball cancelled again last night. AFTER I drive half an hour to get there. For the first time in a while I had a frustration/depressed binge (related to basketball). Nothing too crazy, but I was done eating, and then I had a couple of raw chocolate balls and 2 servings of Thai Lime Chile almonds. And a stick of Monterey Jack cheese. I'm going to an amusement park today, so there should be tons of walking. And there's basketball tomorrow. I forgot to check my body fat percentage this morning. It's going to be a process!
5/19 = 192.2 (-0.4), BF% = 16.0. Walked over 15k steps at Magic Mountain. I was good at the park with food, but binged a bit again when I got home. I've been sneaking in a little chocolate (wife has it around) the past few nights, which I've got to address. I'm going to work on sticking much more closely to my macros. I'm not having any real negative consequences at this point, but I want to nip this in the bud. I have basketball this morning.[/quote]
5/20 = 192.0 (-0.2), BF% = 16.2. My knee felt really loose at basketball yesterday. I didn't hurt myself, but it didn't feel good. Ate out for brunch, and got a nice rare steak and eggs. Macros were okay. I was a little light on water, at least for a basketball day.
5/21 = 195.4 (+3.4). Let's call yesterday what it was: a full-blown slip. It was my father-in-law's birthday party. I was pretty good with food for most of the day (this is becoming a pattern that is not shaken, in a very good way). It started with my wife doing Mexican corn (with mayo, butter, cheese, and chili). Corn is not a great food for my diet, but I had more than I probably should have (the toppings are all fine, though). Later came dessert. My wife got a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake from the bakery in LA called Portos. It's ridiculous. I told her a few times throughout the day that I wasn't going to have any, but she persisted, and I gave in. Twice. Back to my eating during the day, though. I didn't track volume, only "quality." The food I was eating fit well into the Keto lifestyle, but I probably overate a bit overall, even before the corn/cheesecake. Anyhoo. It was a slip, not a full-blown relapse. Let's see how long it takes for my body to fully BWHOOSH™ (formerly known as BOUNCE BACK™).

@curvycaloriess Not to discourage you but that you might be well informed. All of those “free” foods can add up to a LOT of calories. I know that when they made fruit free several years ago, NO ONE ever told me that only X number of servings were allowed as free. When a local staff person explained the new program on the news in December, she said, “If it’s dinner time and you have run out of points, you can still eat whatever you want from the free foods list.” There have to be limits but, again, that was never mentioned. I am a Lifetime member (from 1986 and 2009) finally back at goal thanks to Keto.2

5/20 170.4 Totally building muscle and feeling leaner; however, & I STILL have to keep reminding myself that my goal is now losing 2 lbs a month instead of 4. I find myself worrying that I won’t, but I think - with time - I will fret less. The trending app helps. My 10-day moving average is down 2.1 lbs in 20 days. Last month, I was down 5.3 lbs in 30 days. Slowly, I will adjust. Quite the mind shift.
5/21 170.0 I’m glad I purposely have slowed down my weight loss. It’s funny that it feels as though I’m gaining - when I’m not. I can see this will take some time, but I’m hopeful.

@mustb60 One thing I have learned from daily weighing is that it takes my scale 2-3 days to reflect my eating choices. Good or bad.
@Fat2FitMom19 Why the frown when your weight went down? Or is my dyslexia kicking in.
@tiabirdie56 My neighbor told me about Hyland’s Leg Cramps. I take 2 every morning. It’s homeopathic and either it works or an odd coincidence that when I forgot yesterday I started having cramps again. There is also a night time formula. I get it at Walmart. I already take magnesium and potassium twice daily.
@puddlegoober Yesterday on my of my Keto FB groups a lady was complaining about her husband not liking the way she eats. Several people replied with what is my advice to you. You know what works for you. So do it. My husband has finally almost crossed over to my side after 10 months. His mom was a good pusher. “Just a bite won’t hurt you.” Uhh, YES, yes it will.” It could start a downward spiral. I ate a sugar loaded dessert near the end of the cruise and I think I may finally be over the “boy, I wish I had a cookie” feeling. Stand up for what you know. Okay, lecture over. OMG, I’ve turned into a Keto fanatic.2 -

This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
5/18 138.5 Well not surprised. Yesterday was our 48th wedding anniversary and my 10 month Ketoversary. Down 30# We attended a dinner party last night and there was sugar in everything - at least that was the way it felt/tasted. My ketones are low (0.5) but still present.
5/19 138.5 Lovely grilled dinner at Red Lobster. Ate my little lobster tail, a few shrimp, and two bites of salmon. Also salad with blue cheese dressing and 3/4 of a cheddar biscuit. Those biscuits no longer taste good to me. Strawberries and whipped cream for dessert when we got home. Breakfast with lady friends at 8 AM today. Have I mentioned lately that I am not a breakfast person? I ate about 1/4 of my omelet which was relatively tasteless in spite of Monterrey Jack cheese and lots of green chilies.
5/20 139.0 WTH??? I suspect there were hidden carbs in that omelet are causing me to retain water because I really didn’t overeat. Also was way below on water. UGH!
5/21 138.0 When I pointed out to DH this morning that I had brought home breakfast potatoes on Saturday he said “we don’t eat those anymore.” Whoo hoo, he is coming to a more Keto WOE!4 -

Thanks for sharing! I essentially do Primal and my percentage ratios are 20/30/50 (protein, carbs, fat). This puts my goals roughly around 70g/100g/80g, but fat is the main goal. It makes it easy to use a fat bomb to make up calories. For my size, 1400 calories is already pretty low, so I really try not to short it even more.3 -

Ultimate Goal: 175 lbs, reevaluate at that point
May:

19: 203.9... Wow is the only word I have right now. Charging through to onederland!
20: 203.4...I feel like my morning Matcha is helping this process more than I expected. I started drinking it because it tastes good and looked into the health benefits after. Now I'm bulletproofing it, which is even better. Some days I have to "make" myself eat more before I go into fasting hours because I hadn't been hungry enough to get to 1400 calories. Dark chocolate with coconut oil is my new savior on those days and my new favorite sweet when I otherwise would have eaten something loaded with carbs.

@quiltingjaine to @puddlegoober, "OMG, I've turned into a keto fanatic" LOL. You can't help it when you know it works. No one has ever influenced me to eat something I don't want or shouldn't have. I don't know why, but that irritates people.
Thank you for the tip about Hyland's Leg Cramps! I will definitely buy it to have on hand. Leg cramps are the devil! Last night was a pretty mild one, but I've had them (not since starting keto) so bad and prolonged that when it's finally over, my muscle is very sore and tender.
I wish my DH would do keto. He went on Medifast, again. I really hate that diet. He says it works for him. I agree, that he can lose a ton of weight quickly, but he never learns HOW to eat properly. I'm glad to hear that your DH is coming around to keto woe.

I finally got to the doctor today - I've been fighting swollen glands & jaw pain as a result for almost 2 weeks, but no time.... Anyway, started antibiotics and I'm hoping by tomorrow I'll notice some improvement. We're still not fully unpacked and are eating out, but I think tomorrow is grocery shopping day, so I can get back on track. I am burning some calories with work in the garden and unpacking/moving stuff around. I haven't worried about what I eat other than to track. One bit NSV at the doctor's office - I used to take BP medication, before I lost 70 pounds, but haven't taken them in 18 months. I haven't checked in a while and was a little apprehensive, but even after sprinting from the parking lot and being sick, it was 120/79. Yay!

Round 41 GOAL = Stay under Maintenance calories on average for the 10 days and run three times.
5/18 - 128.2 - Taking this new challenge seriously. Log food every day, I have been falling down on that.
5/19 - 128.6 - logged food and under maintenance, 10K steps. By logging, I got to see that the ratio of snacks to real food was SHOCKING. So, good information!! Admittedly, temptations showed up, but.
5/20 -130.2 - sadness for my own mess-ups, and resolve. Anxiety and comforting myself with food. Way over yesterday on calories, under on exercise. Rising every time I fall....
5/21 - 128.6 - yesterday under calories, ate only a 200 calorie "treat" protein bar in the sugar dept, 11K steps. One day at a time.

For some reason when I copy and paste this onto my memo in my phone and then I copy and paste it back here to post the next day it adds all these weird abbreviation things to it for some reason. I feel like computer illiterate or something!!!!!1

My Round 2
5/18: 501.0- Upset with myself. Already today is off to a bad start. But on Saturday I’m starting to crack down and hopefully do a lot better.
5/19: 508.6- No weigh in when I first woke up. I got caught up and busy. But I decided to weigh myself at night after a day of eating nothing but crap and the regret has seriously sunk in. I’ve officially decided to join Weight Watchers but I’m going to keep using Myfitnesspal as an extra tool. Sunday is the day I change my life..hopefully.
5/20: 505.0- Today is my first day on Weight Watchers. I’m loving it so far.
5/21: 502.6- Lost 2.4 pounds the first day of Weight Watchers. Of course it might be water weight but I’m just glad to see it working.
