tl:dr version for everyone:
Stick to your diet and buy healthy food;
Eat a cheat meal occasionally and don't feel bad about it;
Some pseudoscience bs
or just eat food to a calorie deficit, there is not healthy food, there is only a healthy overall diet.
Don't get me wrong, as someone who ate cheesecake yesterday, I completely agree that you can lose weight eating whatever you want. However it is easier to create a calorie deficit with conventionally "healthy" foods. Lean meats, some carbs, fruit and vegetables sound like conventionally "healthy" foods to me.
I don't like KK, but people listen to random strangers on the internet all the time, why should the fact she's famous and people don't like her/the way she looks make the advice any worse than what a random stranger says.
My point was, actually the advice wasn't awful, just the reasoning wasn't good.
I didn't say eat whatever you want, this seems to be a common misconception when we are talking about calorie deficit.
My problem is the notion of healthy and non-healthy foods, yes there are some foods which are more nutritionally dense than others, but they are only healthy as part of the bigger picture - for example, none of the above you mentioned would have much fat, yet fat is just as essential to the body as protein, it helps the body to absorb vitamins and for brain function.
Perhaps it's easier for you to create a calorie deficit with "conventionally healthy foods", personally I find it just as easy to have the food I have always eaten just in smaller portions, many of these foods wouldn't be considered "health foods" but still have nutritional benefits as part of my overall diet. That way I don't have a need for cheat meals.5 -

I understand what you are saying, but this mentality is so ubiquitous that a distinction needs to be made. You're eating lower calorie foods because they make dieting easier, not because there are diet foods and non-diet foods. You're not eating clean because if you don't you're bad and will not lose weight, you eat nutritious foods because nutrition is important for health. You're not having cheat meals because eating clean is insanely stressful and boring and you need to come out and breathe sometimes, you eat higher calorie foods occasionally because while it's okay to enjoy them any time, doing so often or in large quantities would make dieting harder so you choose the path of least resistance that allows you to enjoy certain foods on top of other lower calorie foods you enjoy often without sabotaging your goals. This mental reframing is important, at least for me it is.7 -
Her answer is too general. I mean how can one define what's clean eating. Treating yourself with a cheat meal can also wipe out your whole deficit if you have a giant appetite. If her answer was "Eat less calories than you burn., she would've been more credible, but her solution isn't really helpful to anyone. Let's not forget, these people pay nutritionists and PT, she simply does what they tell her to do, I highly doubt she does her own research on how to lose weight and stay fit or else she wouldn't have said such a generic statement.1

Hmmm, good point. I suppose sometimes it's difficult to distinguish what is said, and what is meant. I think my problem is that, in many ways, I know that distinction, and so when I typing things from myself, I know what I mean as opposed to how others will read it. Perhaps I should've spent slightly longer to make myself clearer.
So often I'll also bring up the same point to others that you've just made to me because I think that that reframing is so very important. So often it's the cause of yoyos or hating the food you're eating and the "diet" mentallity (something I'm slowly changing for myself).1 -
on their show, the entire family is always eating prepared packaged chef meals..obviously portioned out to exact calories. like a high end gourmet jenny craig plan.
But to answer the OP question. i do so called "cheat meals" but i call it dining out with my husband. ...and i've lost ALL my weight while doing them, once a week. i find as long as i stick to my healthful eating plan for stretches of days.. i can break a few rules during a meal and keep on track. Now, as i maintain.. i do the same..eat off a few meals on the weekends..and during the week, i eat like i did during reduction.
This way of life works for me, and makes me super happy. Now that the hard work of losing the weight is over.. it all seems easy.2 -

For the record, I only know about number 2 by hearsay(as Joel McHale formerly of the soup would always introduce clips from the Kardashians with "KK only Famous because of her big posterior(A--) and sex tape")0 -
I don't trust celebrities for actual real life advice on anything from vaccines to weightless.2
-
Hormones are not primary drivers. These are secondary influencers.
I trust Kim Kardashian's advice on how to become popular with no discernible skills or talent.6 -
I agree it it didn't sound so bad until she started spouting the stuff about scheduling the cheat meal so you don't throw your hormones off. Testosterone...blah,blah,blah! No wonder why people are so confused about weight loss. It's not that complicated.0

Kim could use weight loss advice herself. Despite having private chefs, home gym, trainer, best doctors, unlimited budget at her disposal!4

Or she has the body she wants, it simply isn't to your taste. Imagine that.8 -

I don't know..Ithink she looks okay. Plus not everybody wants to be rail thin, I personally do not find that really thin look attractive anyway.1 -

Do you have a top selling sex tape??? Not hitting on you. KK Does so clearly something is working for her.4 -
Scrolling through my news feed and came across this tidbit of info regarding cheat meals True or False? Lol
“I’ve been really strict with my diet, recently. When I grocery shop, I buy lean protein, carbs, fruits and veggies, but every once in a while, I like to treat myself and have a cheat meal.” Sounds easy, right? Well, it’s not. Even Kim admitted that. “It can be so hard (and boring) to eat really clean all of the time. A cheat meal allows me to enjoy food without feeling like I’m overindulging. My trainer, Mel, instructs that you should schedule a cheat meal about once every 10 days. This way you won’t lose any of the progress you’ve made at the gym. When you do them too often, your body’s hormones are thrown off,” she wrote. “Your testosterone, which is a muscle-making and fat-loss hormone, can change if you’re eating too many calories, which can make you gain weight.”
The best part is, someone is making money by telling her this nonsense.0 -
Yea, I probably wouldn’t take any advice coming from a kardashian1
-
Am I the only one who sees KK and thinks of Krispy Kreme first? I probably wouldn't take diet advice from them either, but a couple of dem cake doughnuts sound good right about now.6

'Great' is obviously a matter of opinion here.1 -

Kim who? I didn't even bother if there was a link, don't be swayed by a 'so called' celeb. My definition of a diet is ' the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats.' not some fad or restriction. Adjust what you are taking in to match what you really need. Yes there will be days, which are 'unkindly' known as 'cheat days' hey ho, welcome to the real world. If we restrict ourselves to only this or that, we WILL fail.
Adopt a way of life which suits you. knowing what your limits are and adjust. there shouldn't be a need for a guilty, 'cheat day' as you ARE in control, with discipline, going over a day or a few can be rectified, hey it's for life not just to lose for an event.
I'm sorry I realised after posting I had quoted, no criticism, more suppprot.3 -
Sorry, but is this a serious question?
Celebrities have lots of money to waste on lots of pseudo-professionals and lots of time to waste on the hoops these pseudo-professionals tell them to jump through while laughing all the way to the bank. Then they get photographed in the best lighting with the best angles in perfectly tailored clothing by a professional photog who then airbrushes and photoshops the result before publishing it in a story telling us to jump through the hoops to look like the fake picture.
Kelly Clarkson is a legit talented individual who sounds at least reasonably intelligent in interviews, and even she got taken and is now hawking some diet book in articles that make me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork. God help us.5 -

Three pages on celebrity diet-pushing and nobody's mentioned Goop?1
