Don't do this. A skinny woman I know wears cheap clothes and they look just like that- cheap!
I know that when you're skinny you can wear cheap clothes and they will still look good on you versus being heavier and needing a more expensive taloring, but you're worth more than that! When you lose the weight, buy some hot-looking, well made clothes!12 -
To be the hot wife... and the hot chick in the office in which I work10

My petty reason is I want my husband to be like, "see this little hottie, she's mine" I sent him to be proud to have me on his arm. Idk if that's petty really, but it's close16

I had to think about this, because my "petty" reason isn't really a reason--just a benefit from losing weight. I won't be the "fat American" when I travel anymore. That will be nice. I've always been the fatest person around when traveling overseas--and while that didn't stop me from traveling, it did both me a bit.
There was one time I wasn't the fatest--my sister was. But she's slimmed down so I gotta do my bit, because we plan to travel together again. I love my sis and am proud of how she's taken care of herself.26 -

I don't have a petty reason. It took true grit to get here. To those who deem what we are doing as less than or petty or vain or useless or just wandering aimlessly in the wilderness - they haven't been through the hail and back it takes to make this happen. No one has to live in our body. It's the one thing that belongs to us and there's nothing petty about our overall health and well being. I just read all of your posts. I wouldn't consider them a good thing, I consider them a great, fantastic wondrous, terrific thing and everything a person could ask from themselves...when it comes to taking care of themselves and listening to your bodies and using good sense. You inspire me.7

My petty reason is to make my wife regret leaving me a few months ago.40

Not petty but I want to be a 6 instead of a 5. Also I am so ****ing tired of dieting. It's draining.13

My petty reason - No, not all post-menopausal women gain weight, and if they do, they CAN lose it (so cut back on the wine and large dinners out and stop complaining and do the hard work)!23

I started gaining weight after I passed the age of 40. Metabolism slowed then I had to have a hysterectomy which did not help with the weight gain. I am not necessarily working towards a pretty but I am working towards a better me.12

I have a few vain reasons for wanting to lose weight... I want to go anywhere with confidence. Plus it helps that I could wear anything and look good, that isn’t possible in my current state. And lastly, I’m the big girl in my family. I’m the tallest and the biggest, so I always get snide remarks and snotty looks. I want to be the one giving the looks just once!7

It’s not really that petty but I want to be able to look back at family photos and not be like “ew” lol. I want to just appreciate and relive the memories not be focused on the fact that I look bad. Photos from my sons birthday party last year were like that. We went to the park last night and my husband took some photos/videos of me with my 2 year old and i was expecting to watch them and be like oh great I ruined the video with my flabby butt. but I was surprised I looked fine.17

I'm seeing a lot of reasons here... but most of them aren't petty.
Instead, it just sounds like folks looking for better health and acceptance of self.
respect y'all17 -

You must have missed mine! Mine is super petty, but I found it worked to keep me motivated this week. On Wednesday evening I really wanted to wind down with a glass of wine after dinner but then thought of that woman whom I hate who's working out at the gym daily. I immediately said to myself, "B---- ain't gonna be skinnier than me."30 -
I refuse to be over-weight like most people I know... lol13
