What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

Initially it wasn’t petty. I want to outlive my ex. Ok that is petty. But more-so, I want to not be the “fat mom.” I want to wear bikinis again and low rise jeans and tight dresses and I guess it is all petty. Except I love my kids & I don’t want to not be alive for them because of some dumb extra weight. New friends welcome.10

To lose the baby weight. I was dropping the weight but since being home and not working now, I am overeating. Even with breastfeeding calories needed I am still exceeding caloric intake and watching the scale go up and the depression worsen. So I am trying to help myself.15

She was constantly bashing my weight my whole life and always making comments on how much I eat, or what I'm eating, or how much I'm exercising. It took a major toll. At one point she was 3 sizes smaller than me and she rubbed it in my face constantly. She would frequently point out that I was still gaining weight while she was losing weight. So finally, I had enough and decided to take control.

But new clothes shopping of course!!!( and new shoes)
To not be shy at the pool. ( even though it seems most women are my size or much bigger but i guess i don't have the confidence)
For shock value in people i haven't seen for awhile
And to look kinda hot at age 41..
I had a girl friend who was 5'10" and 250lbs. I picked her up easily. All the time! Get a strong af boyfriend! LOL! You look perfectly fine.17 -

I want to stop feeling disgusting too. I want to feel "hot" and not because of the daam humidity.
I also have a specific "look" I want my body to present as..and it's not like a heavily padded rectangle. I also want to feel comfortable in my clothing and I know my mindset has a lot to do with that. Still, these are my "petty" reasons
What are you doing to change? Mindset is everything, right? You get that right (and you will) then look out world!3 -
Three petty reasons:
1. Not to be "that cool older dude" but to be "that cool hawt af dude"!
2. This happened a few times...want that again....walk by a conference room in Starbucks, full of ladies, walk by to go to the men's room and they all shut up and stare! And, hell yes I walked V E R Y S L O W L Y! I know how to tease....you ladies don't have that market cornered!
3. Let's all be honest - look AMAZING naked!16 -

To look in a mirror again. I have not looked at myself in the mirror more than a quick glance in 15 years....17

I lost all my weight a couple of years ago, but I remember that I resolved to lose weight because I wanted to be able to fit into clothes from American Eagle.7

I want to be able to be able to paint my toenails without suffocating myself!26

Quite common I guess - want to get back at all the bullies in highschool that said I was ugly.
Also 5 year relationship breakup. Want to be hot and regain my self esteem.9 -
To be hot!3

A neurosurgeon told me to lose weight in a way that really riled me. To be fair to him, I was in extreme pain and not particularly open to good advice at the time, but the way he said it just hit a nerve (pun intended).
I didnt think I was eating that much, so as I walked out of the hospital I angrily resolved to stop drinking. I actually shouted it out as I hobbled across the car park in pain.
Then the weirdest thing happened. After drinking wine every day for decades, I just stopped without any sense of withdrawal or any cravings at all. Pretty quickly I was 20lb lighter and that was enough of a kickstart to get me dieting (something I’d never done before).
My temper is usually my biggest weakness, but it can be a motivator. Without it, I’d still be obese.

Funny....there were three bullies in high school when I was there. I beat the tar out of them. Made a statement with each *kitten* kicking. Not really a bully problem when I was there. And, I did not get in trouble. Of course, this was in the early 1980's! Totally different world now. Don't get me started on that! LOL!3 -
So that when I go out cycling, I can wear the same cycling gear but not look like a pizza express dough ball bursting out of very stretched Lycra!!
It’s not a good look
And to be quicker ( at cycling!!)18 -

Ugh I don’t think this will ever happen for me. Sucks to have small boobs sometimes. Lol.3 -
I had to think about this, because my "petty" reason isn't really a reason--just a benefit from losing weight. I won't be the "fat American" when I travel anymore. That will be nice. I've always been the fatest person around when traveling overseas--and while that didn't stop me from traveling, it did both me a bit.
There was one time I wasn't the fatest--my sister was. But she's slimmed down so I gotta do my bit, because we plan to travel together again. I love my sis and am proud of how she's taken care of herself.
I feel you on this. Working like a fiend for a france trip in september. Don't want to be a fat american in that country. Don't want to give them more to be rude about7 -

1.To not mind having my photo taken.
2.To not look back at photos and throw them out because I cannot bear to look at them.
3.To walk by exes looking smoking hot.
4.To feel confident and healthy.
5. To be the "hot one" in photos.
6. To feel pretty like I did when I was thin.
7. So that my nephew does not fall me fatso again.Once was enough
8.To look great naked and for men to really notice me and for people to be jealous of me22 -

My petty reason is to look amazing in my wedding dress. On top of that others are losing weight before my wedding too so I don’t wanna be the one that didn’t so no one can say or think she’d look better in her dress if she was a healthy weight.11

This so speaks to me, my mom has always been my biggest critic but at the same time guilt me for not eating all the time. I became really depressed at one point in my 20's and lost some weight inadvertantly and she told all her friends that I lost weight thanks to her. When I gained weight again and kept gaining weight she kept showing me how she can fit into all my old clothes and ask do you remember this top/dress/pants? At this point in my life I'm losing weight because I'm sick of feeling like crap but this time I'm not doing it for her approval or love. And to say I did this for me not anyone else.14 -

I think that is me, but I would not call that petty at all.11 -
@LiftHeavyThings27105 thanks- I want to get my mindset right! What am I doing to change it?? Currently, very little. I want to begin interrupting negative thoughts I have about myself and immediately replace them with something positive.
I have to believe there’s confidence within me and all I have to do is pull it up! Fake it till I make it, I guess5
