New calorie goal got me STARVING 😭

I am 5'8 245lbs... my new calorie goal of 1300 has got me starving. I've be successful implementing intermittent fasting along with my calorie goal. As of late tho... ugh. I try to get as much exercise as I can, but have been relying on calorie restriction for the most part. Doing 1300 calories per day has my body throwing tantrums and did I mention hunger? So do I O.D. on protein? (Which I don't really want to do (older gal) another reason i much rather calorie restrict) Should I protein shake my life away... again (since slim fast 😭)? Do o just need to suck it up and starve... more? Any Advice? Mahalo in advance 🌺🤙

What do you have your calorie goal set to for loss per week?4

How did you get a goal of 1,300? If it's from MFP, what did you set as your goal rate of loss per week?
When you do exercise, are you eating back your activity calories?8 -

That's pretty much the questions that matter. 1300 sounds low for someone your height. I'd dial it back a bit or, at the very least, make sure you're eating back your exercise calories on top of it.1 -
I'm 5'9", 180 lbs and can lose on 2000 calories per day. Eat more.22

My answer from your other thread:

IMO, your deficit is too high. I'm 52, 5'4", ~120, have no thyroid, was not not technically overweight, and lost on 1720 calories a day. Eat more and you'll feel better.4

5'8" 220lbs (started at 255lbs) lost the 35lbs on 1500 net per day (with exercise calories that was around 2000 cals per day). Better to lose slower and stick at it because it's sustainable than burn out quickly because you're starving, try setting yourself to a slower rate of loss and eat some of those exercise calories back!9

Set your rate of loss to 1 pound per week. You’ll probably be able to eat more.

I threw your info (that I knew) into a calculator. If you gave yourself 2 years to lose 100 lbs, you could eat about 1650 cals/day (with walking 30 minutes daily). You would maintain at about 1900 (as long as you kept up the walking). Why risk blowing it all by trying to lose too fast? As someone told me, you can lose 1 lb a week consistently for months and months, or lose 2 lbs a month never12

Whew... I'm 5'5 and about 132 lbs, and I can easily lose on 1400 cal/ day NET (meaning I eat most of my exercise calories- so that's 1400 minimum, if I didn't exercise at all that day.)0

Seriously, how did you get a goal of 1300 at 245 lbs.
Unless you're literally bedridden, you've probably miscalculated somewhere.6 -
I'm about 100lbs lighter and 2" shorter and that would have me killing people. Wouldn't be able to stick to that for 3 days much less the time required to shed 75lbs. I'd re-evaluate your goals and find something more sustainable7
-
So eat more. I wouldn’t succeed if I had to be hungry all the time. Using a TDEE calculator, you should be able to lose 1 lb a week on 1800-ish calories depending on how active you are.2
-
I'd be so hangry on such little calories.. Try setting your goal to losing 1 lb to 1.5 lb a week instead of 2 lbs. That should give somewhere between 1600-1800 calories. I think you'd manage a lot better with that amount without starving all day!2
-
Another vote to eat more. I'm going to guess you picked 2lb/week loss. Try 1.5 or 1lb.1
-
Where on earth did you get that calorie goal from? You can eat a few hundred calories a day more and still lose weight. Do that.2
-
I eat between 1600 and 1800 calories a day, depending on the workout I had completed for the day. It's lower on the days I don't workout. There are multiple calculators online. I would google and try a few. I actually did about 5 or 6 different ones and started with the average of them all. It's a good way to get an estimate, but that's all that it is, an estimate. Start with that then add or subtract what works for you.0

I'm 5ft 2, 233lb and my daily goal before exercise is 1640
My furniture would have teeth marks if my goal was that low6 -
I'm 5'8" and there's no way I could eat only 1300 calories a day consistently. I'm in maintenance and at around 140 lbs have been eating over 2000 to maintain. Anything less than that I will lose weight on. Maybe you need to reevaluate your goals. 1lb a week, even when sedentary should give you much more than 1300.2

Do you want to lose two pounds a week never or one pound a week consistently?
Change your weekly weight loss goal to One Pound a Week for 1,720 calories / day, depending on how old you are (I used a birth year of 1968.)7 -

I think you've gotten the best advice possible already. Reevaluate your rate of loss. I have a lot of weight to lose (>100lbs), and could probably safely set my goal at 2 pounds per week, but I don't. Turns out I like to eat. So I set it at 1 pound per week, and if some days I feel satisfied with a few hundred calories left over, I don't stress it because I know I can support that faster loss for now. Sometimes, I'm hungrier so I eat every allotted calorie available to me. It gives me room to reach the only goal that will really make this a sustainable thing for me: Not being hungry.6 -
Just curious how you are feeling about this advice, @OOODINA777 ?1

I'm 5'8" and currently 205. I think sedentary gave me a goal of 1700 calories losing a pound a week. I am somewhere between that and lightly active, so I self selected 1800 calories. I typically eat back 200-300 of my exercise calories, averaging eating 2000 calories a day. I do cardio of 40 minutes 4-5 days a week and an interval training session for an hour twice a week that includes both strength and cardio. I'll throw.in yoga once or twice and do stretching each evening. My apple watch says I burn 2600-2700 calories each day. I'd also be starving at 1300.
Eat a little more! It's easier and your chance of success is higher.3 -
Oh and I'm losing on target between 1-1.5 lbs a week.0
-
Yup. Eat more.0
-
girl eat more!! I use a fitbit that estimates i burn 2600-3000 a day. Im 5'9 and 220. I eat 2000 cals for a 2 pound loss a week.4
-
With your stats, you could eat more and lose weight. My guess is that you're also not doing anything with your exercise calories...when you move more you can eat more as well.
Did MFP give you that target? Is it for 2 Lbs per week? What did you put for your activity level?0 -

Yeah, I put in her stats, made her 50 yo and sedentary, picked 2 pounds per week, and got 1220 calories per day.0 -
Old, you say, OP? Riiiight. I'm 62, 100+ pounds lighter, 3" shorter, and would lose way too fast for decent health on 1300 gross calories. (And I don't get gazillions of calories of daily activity or exercise, either. I'm a li'l ol' retired woman!)
Eat more, lose slower, feel better, be healthier.13 -
OP, please do check that all your data is correct: check gender, size and weight. And then run the guided setup again. Something is very off here.2
