I weighed 423 2 weeks ago. I have not been perfect in my choices but I am tracking calories daily. However I have a scale that only goes to 400. Should I invest in a new scale or should I just wait till I get on the scale and it works because I eventually get below 400?

If you have weekly access to a pro scale then no need to weigh yourself more often.5

Wait until you go below 400. You can set other goals like tracking your food intake consistently, counting steps, minutes of exercise daily or taking a body measurement like your wrist. Body measurements change more slowly but they are still a measurement.4

Oh my gosh, no! You can do this. Keep plugging away!3

My scale only goes to 350lbs. I used it as one of my goals: to actually read something other than "Err". I say save your money and use the money as a reward for when you get under 400.5 -
I agree that you should find a scale you can use weekly or bi-weekly to do a check in until you get to a lower weight. Are you weighing your food, though? That is a scale you should not wait to buy.4

I would just wait because you'll be below 400 so soon anyway. It seems like it would be a waste of money to buy one now as long as your current scale is in good working order.
Maybe you can pop into your doctor office in a few weeks or a month and check your weight there if you get curious. Just be aware that not all scales will spit out the same weight. It's normal. Example- at my doctors I weigh 137. At home I weigh 143. At my mom's I weigh 145. It's totally normal. So don't get upset or discouraged if your doctors scales give you a higher number or something.
Side note- You can do this and you are worth it. Just keep on trucking! You don't have to be perfect to lose weight. All you need to do is create a calorie deficit. No need for gimmicks or fads. Just create a calorie deficit and you'll lose weight.5
