Goals: 1. 3 lb loss to land in the 180’s (even if it’s hanging by skin of my teeth)
2. No Bingeing
3. No “cheat days” only “Earn days”. No “Earn Days” only “Earn Meals” which are much easier to bounce back from.
4. 10,000 steps per day. Mixed modes of exercise.
5. Lots of water, green tea daily, apple cider vinegar before carby meals.
6. Check my blood sugar daily for improvements.
R43 SW 193.8 EW 195.6 +1.8 lbs Gain
R44 SW 195.6 EW 192.4 - 3.2 lbs Loss
R45 SW 192.4 EW = TBD
Day/Weight/Comment
6/27 Today’s weight: 192.4 going out of town today so tomorrow’s weight is not going to be good. Started this challenge with a 1.5 mile walk after dinner and a total of over 9000 steps for the day. Ate fairly healthy though my carbs were a bit over. Calories were good.
6/28 Today’s weight: 194.6 I knew this would happen. Restaurants are my weakness for sure! So much better to eat at home when you can!
6/29 Today’s weight: 192.4 Walked 10,332 steps yesterday. Followed my keto low carb diet very well. Restrained from the late night bingeing, but it was difficult. Used 2 squares of 90% cacao chocolate as my compromise. Bitter but better than nothing. Logged well. Drank my water, vinegar and tea. My blood sugar numbers were fantastic so my body probably loves me right now. I am proud I made it through another day successfully and that the scale reflected my sacrifices.
6/30 Today’s weight: 191.4. Walked 11,005 steps yesterday including work and home. Intermittent fasted for 16:8. No actual exercise or intended walk yesterday due to extreme weather so I am pleased with the scale. I followed my diet without any trouble and reached most of my macros though I was a smidgen low on protein. It’s going to be 100 degrees here in Northern Michigan today which is uncharacteristic of my area. We do not even have air conditioning so wish me well!
7/01 193.8 Went off course on diet yesterday due to heat. High sodium restaurant carry out since it was too hot to cook or even grill outside. Tons of water due to heat/thirst. I hope this will prove to be mainly water weight. Another hot day coming but I am hoping to do better today with meal planning. I got in 10,762 steps yesterday around the house working. I intermittent fasted 16:8. But otherwise, I pretty much blew it. More self-sabotage in the eating dept. and lots of water which is going nowhere with what I ate. I will be working hard on all this today despite more high 90’s degree weather expected.
7/02 194.6 My son’s birthday so what can I say? I intermittent fasted 16:8. I walked over 13,000 steps. I drank the water, the vinegar and the tea. But my diet was lousy. Binge, Binge. In the evening I came to my senses and started being very careful and I put in the walking. I hope tomorrow will be better.
7/03 191.6 whoosh! Yesssss….. I'm all over the place here but that's to be expected with this heat and water intake. I walked 13,583 steps yesterday walking 5.75 miles including a brisk 50 minute walk for exercise. Intermittent fasted 16:8. Lots of water again. Followed diet pretty carefully. I did have some chocolate at night during a binge attack but I tried to keep it reasonable. I don’t know why I’ve suddenly lost my willpower but I’m working on it. Just glad to see some of that water I’ve been drinking ( because of the heat ) finally release. Ah… There’s hope afterall for this challenge!
7/04 191.8 but a holiday BBQ is coming and I can feel the bloat already! I walked over 10,000 steps yesterday including my brisk 1.5 mile walk in the evening. Clung very well to my diet with little temptation. I was just too hungry to intermittent fast, but otherwise, yesterday was a good day. I know today will not be as sure as I know that I am human. Happy 4th Everyone !!!!
7/05 192.0 Whew not as bad as I thought it would be. I did over-indulge for the holiday. Yesterday I did manage to get in 10,430 steps. I Intermittent fasted 16:8. I drank plenty of fluids. I overate both calories and carbs. I’m back on on track for today! Praying I’ll be strong as my cravings are sometimes unbearable.

Day/Weight/Comment
6/27 - Wednesday - 196.6 - Worked really hard to avoid stress eating last night - stayed within calories and made dinner at home after some less than stellar news at work. HUGE WIN - as I normally would have went straight for the comfort foods on the way home. Now to continue on with good planning and choices because the stress shall remain for a while. Cheesesteak stuffed pepper for dinner tonight for me and cheesesteak sandwich for DH. Breakfast smoothie and lunch prepped and packed and made it to work on the early side so feeling good about all those things. Going to an outdoor concert friday and packing a picnic so need to plan that menu. Lots of planning has gotten me this far and I'm finally starting to enjoy the habit.
6/28 - Thursday - 196.4 - I believe TOM is imminent. I'm feeling a bit bloated and I've been hanging out at the same weight for 3 days - which is a pattern I've noticed the past two months. Also a carb monster. I've been around 100g of carbs the past few days - today is around 150g and I'm okay with that. I planned my day of eating around pizza for dinner but I need to get more protein in - and in different ways than my protein shake - getting sick of it and that's when things turn bad for me. Going to get a bunch of those tuna packets and make that my afternoon snack. Last night was good - took a nice walk and had a steak and cheese low carb wrap instead of the pepper but it all worked out. Need to do some prep tonight to get ready for tomorrow evening outdoor concert as we will probably leave from work so it will be a busy night tonight. I find I'm managing stress a LOT better. Good food = good vibes for me. If I was going thru what I am now, 6 months ago, my head would have been buried in a pot of pasta. Feeling healthy, hopeful, and strong.
6/29 - Friday - 196.2 - Good night last night - stuck to food plan. A bit of a self sabotage morning - I skipped making breakfast smoothie - but I did bring my protein powder. I didn't pack lunch - we didn't have much to pack. I bought donuts for the work crew - but havent eaten one yet! Hmmm...alright so to avoid falling prey to the traps I have set for myself, I will; drink my protein shake by 11, make a reasonable choice for lunch (maybe panera or taco bell cantina bowl?), log it and move on whatever happens. Picnic tonight - stopping at the grocery store on the way and I CANNOT be starving when we are shopping or I'll overeat tonight. Stick to - 1 bread, 1 cheese, 1 meat,1 dried fruit, 1 type of nuts - also possibly something from the prepared food; some time of protein? Cookies for dessert. Today is my 20 but need to remind myself not to make a whole weekend out of it! Back to basics tomorrow. Be in the moment and ENJOY tonight with DH.
6/30 - Saturday - 196.4 - reeeaaally holding on to this number. Awesome night last night and miraculously ate around maintenance with some really tasty foods. Had a midnight munchies attack on the way home tho, almost stopped at Wendy's but made it home to snack on some chips and salsa. Feeling good today but need a lot of water!!!
7/01 - Sunday - 196.6 - This is the most days in a row I've seen a number stay the so close to the same. Crazy hot and humid and definitely not enough water. Busy day grocery shopping, farm stand, and butcher. Cooked a bunch of pad thai, and grilled shrimp for food prep/lunch - had mahi mahi tacos with mango chutney and cole slaw for dinner. Hip is bothering me, not sure what that is all about.
7/02 - Monday - 197.4 - Can't say I'm terribly surprised - still no TOM, still hot and humid and hip is now killing me. Managed to get a lot done yesterday but there is never enough hours in the day - kitchen is still trashed from all the food prep yesterday but I was just too hurting to tackle it. I think I'll do some baby steps tonight as to straighten up a bit but not further flare up my hip. Good news is I'm back at it today with a breakfast smoothie, wrap for lunch, tuna packet snack, and dinner planned and cooked. Our family has birthday's 7/3 and 7/5 so the next 3 days are celebrations...not so sure how this round is going to end up but I'm visualizing the scale at 195.6 despite it all.
7/03 - Tuesday - 197.0 - Hip is feeling the slightest bit better - but still bothersome. Working today until 3ish and then heading up the the lake to start 4th of July/Birthday celebrations. Breakfast and lunch packed and logged and being mindful tonight but I'm not the cook so I'll eat what is served. I will need to make sure I don't go up there hungry - because then I will devour anything and everything - so a tuna packet before I go probably with a few crackers... I'll log that now and stick to it! I'll also consider taking a walk while I'm up there, both to get a breather from the crowd and to add some exercise calories to enjoy! Probably wont have a weigh in tomorrow as we will most likely be spending the night.
7/04 - Wednesday - no weigh in took the day off
7/05 - Thursday - 197.6 - TOM finally arrived. Indulged a bit over the vacation - first time I took a whole day off in the past 80 days and I was quite alright with it. The important part it that I get right back to it. Today is another relaxed day, logging wise. DH Birthday and an unprepared day so I'm taking it for what it is - I'll log it but not going to stress. Looks like I'll probably end this round with a gain - but I'll take this round as a lesson in what my body does when it's tired, stressed, injured but also what it's capable of doing despite it all; swimming, cooking, playing, chasing - I'm happy with where I am, how far I've come, what life is becoming and the joy I'm having getting there.

Love this challenge, the change is slow but can look back and see that there is progress. The slowness makes me value the progress even more and hesitate to risk losing it for some imaginary craving – I do find that generally it’s my emotions that “need/crave” something not my body.
6th Round for me: Female 65, height – 5’
Round 39 (1st for me) – SW 163, EW 162.8 = -.2
Round 40 – on holidays = +1.6
Round 41 – SW 164.4, EW 162.4 = -2
Round 42 - SW: 162.6, EW 162 = -.6
Round 43 – SW 162, EW 161.6 = -.4
Round 44 – SW 161.6, EW 160 = -1.6
Round 45 – SW 160.8, GW - 159
Ultimate Goal Weight – 128
Day/Weight/Comment
6/27 –Wednesday- 160.8 Well here goes – want to see those 159’s and get 3 areas cleaned up outside. So those should work together if I don’t get overtired and then decide I need/deserve a treat. I find MFP overrates gardening for calories unless you are digging or something like that so will not track it as exercise.
6/28 –Thursday- 160.4 Don’t feel I deserve this, very quick supper and then “finished” after came home from meeting but almost for sure over calories. Otherwise though a very profitable day.
6/29 –Friday- 160.8 Not so great but not too bad.
6/30 –Saturday- 161.2 So my food scale needs a new battery … two days of “I think I didn’t do too bad” and last night “definitely over” and here we are. Determined today will be different. Why do I act like it doesn’t count when I have no scale? Am I really planning to weigh food for the rest of my life?
7/01 –Sunday-
7/02 –Monday-
7/03 –Tuesday-
7/04 –Wednesday- 161.2 Two day trips with lots of driving – one to Fibrefest and bought hemp yarn instead of chocolate (quite a bit more expensive but hey, no calories) second to an all-day music practice. Both days eating out but tried to be careful. I did get a battery for the scale – all set to go for the rest of the month with no more trips (I think) but fun stuff to do so should be good for losing lb.
7/05 –Thursday- 161.4 Back to the not too bad but not careful enough. A day free today to work outside so should help.

6/27 163.4 I set an aggressive goal weight for this round, but I believe I can reach it if I continue the course.
6/28 162.6 I cannot wait until I am freed up to get on my bike or at least go walk the dogs. It has been a long 10 days. On the bright side I feel I am getting a better grasp on my eating, and I haven't binged this week. I am biting my tongue about my husband's In and Out burgers, donuts and fat boy ice cream sandwiches, abstaining, and letting him make his own choices without piping in. This has always been challenging for me unless we are both on the downward trajectory as far as weight.
6/29 163.0 I can't begin to explain the series of events that led to banana split and potato chips after dinner. I can only say that the stress of caregiving for my mom for the past 2 weeks added to the ever present worry about my 16 year old son has caught up with me and something gave. I was either going to get drunk or eat ice cream, and there we go. I expect to see another step up on the scale tomorrow as a delayed effect of last night's binge.
6/30 161.8 My goal for this round is in reach! I am looking so forward to getting out of the 160's, and resolve never to go there again! I was looking at the before and after success thread last night and how inspiring it is to see how so many people are able to take conttol of their eating and moving and reshape their bodies. I am super stoked to have found this platform and community.
7/01 163.5 Just another reminder that our weight will reflect the result of what we eat, duh. Last night I had a heavy carb dinner, indulging in extra bread and paella, not really too ar over my calories but enough to cause this immediate feedback. It was worth it though, because it is a lifelong change I am making. Better choices day at a time for the rest of my life, leaving room to indulge and then getting back on track.
7/02 WEIGH IN DAY 162.8 Kinda bummed that I am only .2 lbs down from my last weekly weigh in, but looking back at my week I did indulge in ice cream and extra carbs, defiitely making some choices that reflect on the scale. Well, better a small loss than any gain! Goals for this week are more water, more moving and getting my parents back to their own house!
7/03 163.5 you play you pay
7/04 162.2 Is it within reach??? Goal for today is to over hydrate and stay away from sweets.
7/05 163.2 Ok well not so good with that intent. Definitely had a binge, about 800+ over my calorie goal for today. My husband and son leaving for the day, the house to myself, some trees to relax and there came the sweet tooth. I deserve a gain. Popcorn, peanut butter sandwich, yogurt covered pretzels...
7/064 -
@puddlegoober I too know the feeling of heading into an event thinking, oh it'll be okay, I'll make okay choices in the moment, and then I disappoint myself gravely by not making good choices at all. I seem to have to learn over and over and over that when I am tired, when I am just trying to enjoy myself, when I am stressed, when I am faced with hyperpalatable food, I do not make good choices in the moment, I don't I don't. There is no substitute for a good plan.
I keep being defeated by packaged sweets, 200-400 cals worth at 1AM or 2AM on nights when I can't sleep. Your post has got me thinking about what I could PREPLAN that would help me with this - having a cup of tea already to microwave, or my audio meditation all cued up, or having pre-thought and practiced a small bit of yoga that stretches out the headache...
It's not even fear of gaining the weight at this point, just attention to how mindlessly habitual that middle-of-night-sugar-fix feels.4 -

6/27 – 181.2 I’LL TAKE IT!!!! It makes no sense, but I’ll take a drop any day of any week … and thank you scale. Let’s get under the 180s this round.
6/28 – 181.8
6/29 – 181.6 I’m spending so much time sightseeing (and eating) with my niece from overseas and I can’t seem to find my control. She’s here for another week, let’s hope I don’t completely derail.
6/30 – 181.6
7/01 – 180.6 – Ate late tonight, so will probably be up on the scale tomorrow. Hope not, but most likely.
7/02 – 180.2
7/03 – 180.0
7/04 -- 181.0
7/05 – 181.2 Ugh. Stress eating due to stressful arguments with my husband. I may be at crossroads in my marriage. Can't do much until I find a job. Depression and ageism has made it super hard to find something in my field. Been out of work for two years. Another long-term unemployed, middle-aged statistic. I could never, ever have dreamed this for myself. So, so far away from my life plan.

@puddlegoober
A couple of thoughts...
First, you’ve done a great job losing weight! Don’t forget that! Ever!
Second, I’ve noticed since I’ve been on MFP that folks generally have gains when they 1) travel for pleasure or work , 2) celebrate/socialize with family/friends/work colleagues, and 3) when they eat out.
I have traveled & brought our food & I don’t eat out. (4-5 times in 8 months.)
So, I mostly had to deal with #2. For too many years, I worried about hurting other people‘s feelings if I didn’t eat the food. That was even true in restaurants where I’d be worried that the waiter would be insulted. Ridiculous! I came to the realization that the waiter didn’t care at all. I also realized that my friends and family would want me to be HEALTHY as opposed to my being obese, sick, out of shape with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides and a bunch of other stuff.
I decided I would just train everyone (over the next couple of years) to just come to expect that I would not be eating if we went out to restaurant and if the event was at their home, I would bring my own food. I also decided I had to be really consistent, which helped me tow the line. I just don’t eat food that other people have cooked or in restaurants, and I thought they would just come to expect this. Which is what has happened. In fact, friends now say they’d PREFER to go on a hike! I was the one suggesting we go out for lunch in the past, which I had to accept and forgive myself.
Third, I know folks on MFP don’t agree with this, but I had to cut out refined sugar. I tried eating it in moderation. I tested it many times...I hate the cravings/out of control feelings. I realize now that It’s likely that over my lifetime, I have a learned set of behaviors around sugar & white flour/rice to help me when I want a reward, am hot (ice cream), am cold (hot chocolate), worked hard or am tired (pasta, bread basket, big meal/ eating out), feel lonely, etc. I prefer to avoid them & not have to fight these patterns of mine.
My health, our health, HAS to come first. This is no joke. I was there. I’m lucky to have been able to recover my health. I’ve seen the future of an unhealthy diet, sedentary, stressed lifestyle. Now, my bp is 101/71, pulse 62, normal HbA1C and fasting glucose, high HDL for the first time in my adult life, very low triglycerides, and a normal (just) BMI. If it means I cart my food along or eat at home before & after a restaurant celebration, truly, to me, it’s SUCH a small price to pay to be able to hike 2-1/2 hours up mountains non-stop when I was thrilled to slowly walk a mile on flat 2-1/2 years ago.

5'2", Female, Serial Starter, Loss 65lbs in 6 months with MFP in 2013 (250lbs to 185lbs). Did it once, can do it again. Confident it’ll stick this time. SW: 250lbs (05/28/18), UGW: 140-150lbs
R43 SW 240.4
R44 SW 237.2
R45 SW 235.0
Goal this round: More accurate logging by cooking more during weekends. Start exercise routine probably some kind of beginners work out video on YouTube. Recommendations appreciated. Good luck everyone!
Day/Weight/Comment
6/27 235.0! Changed my logging to just putting round start weights since there’s been a difference from the last day of the previous round to the first day of the new round. Between R43 and R44 there was a -0.4lb difference. Between R44 and R45 -1.5lbs!!! I think my consistency from last round paid off even though the scale wasn’t reflecting that. I’m glad I didn’t let it mentally de-rail me. Great way to start a round!
6/28- 234.0 TWO THIRTY-FOUR! Yippee!
6/29- 234.4 Still learning to take the ups in stride. Late weigh in. Within calories yesterday but carb heavy dinner.
6/30- 235.4 Very bummed and disappointed in myself yesterday. Chick Fil A for breakfast. Pizza for dinner. Restless night with the baby. Trying to get head back in game. Up water today and planning an active day with the kids.
7/01- 234.8 Focusing on the positive: weight is down from yesterday, start of round, and since I restarted. I’m still averaging 3lb loss per week since Memorial Day. I’m doing great.
7/02- 234.2 Looks like AF is still working out the post partum schedule. Second time in less than 2 weeks. Ugh. Might explain the weight rollercoaster.
7/03- 232.4 I know the chances of this sticking isn’t likely but I took joy in stepping off/on the several times just to see this number pop up.
7/04- 232.5 Could it be?! I’m hopeful the 232ish will stick til the end of round. AF still visiting but at least there’s no cravings this time. Looks like we’ll be rained out for Independence Day so no big plans. Happy Birthday ‘Murica!
7/05- 232.6 Ended up at Luby’s for dinner so sodium intake was probably through the roof. Son didn’t finish his plate but wasn’t enough left to take home so I picked at it mindlessly. A few bites of mac n cheese and mashed potatoes add up quickly. Bad habit that I’d been good at breaking so far.
7/063 -
@mrs_sutsie Happy birthday!
@CathyVee I believe pure spirits (not sweetened) are dehydrating. Beer is loaded with carbs and probably causes water retention.0 -

7/1 134.5
7/2 134.5 DGD and I went to a Cirque show last night. What fun!
7/3 133.5 Drank 252% of my water requirement yesterday per Plant Nanny app. It was 109* yesterday and 1 digit humidity.
7/4 134.0 Didn’t drink enough water. But that’s what happens at the races. Took DGD to the airport. This evening a community 4th of July picnic where NOTHING will be keto friendly. Well, I guess the hamburgers are but they are always extra well done and tough not juicy, medium rare the way I like them.
7/5 134.5 Did not meet my calories or macros - under on everything. Sloppy Joes instead of burgers, baked beans, fresh fruit salad - mostly watermelon with some strawberries, blueberries, and a little pineapple, and cupcakes for dessert. I had 2 tiny chicken thighs (meat only), two pieces of a strawberry, and about 12 blueberries at the “picnic.”4 -

Well, this week I have increased my activity seriously and this has wreaked havoc with the daily weigh-ins I must say. I think I need to tone it down a little?
This is a long term thing, a few bad days is something I'm getting better at coping with.
I am SO SO determined!! I 100% NEED to stay mindful about my daily logging and being mindful about what I eat and drink.

6/27 at 7:15 / 227.4 / Wow! That's 2.6 pounds overnight. I had a drop like that last round, too, though I bounced right back up. Sometimes, I imagine my body is laughing like that cartoon dog with the weird laugh as I get on the scale. "Let's see how surprising I can be. Tee hee hee."
6/28 at 6:20 / 228.4 / A little bump, but I did a ton of exercise yesterday, including new resistance loop exercises. I expected to have more of a water bump than this.

7/3 at 6:10 / 228.2 / I went over a bit on calories and I think I ate my weight in salt. I'm surprised I didn't bounce higher! Headachy today in the broiling heat, but life is treating me well otherwise.

GW for Round: 190
Day/Weight/Comment
6/27- 194.0
6/28- 193.9- Ate rice today for lunch. NEED TO STOP. No more rice for the next 8 days. No more dilly-dallying, I really want to get out of the 190s. I want it to happen in these ten days! Hope this doesn't make my weight go up again!
6/29- 194.5- Lol it did
6/30- 194.5- Feel like I'm in a weird rut. Tomorrow's a new day!
7/01- 195.0- It's okay. I know this will go down tomorrow lol. I had a lot of salt the previous day but I did well today so I'm expecting to see results lol
7/02- 196.1- lol what is going on. stop.
7/03- 194.2- phew lol. Need to keep going! Will eat well today and workout. Need to see results tomorrow
7/04- 193.4- glad it's still going down! Will eat well today as well. So far breakfast was nice and healthy. Filling and low in calories. I didn't actually get a workout in yesterday but will do today since I'm off from school.
7/05- 194.1- I ate at deficit but more than I wanted to today so hopefully the scale goes down a little tomorrow? I don't know but we'll see. I guess it's still a loss overall. Definitely not getting to 190 this round lol

CW: 82.5 kg (182 lbs)
UGW: 70 kg (154 lbs)
GW for this round: as close to 81 kg (178.5 lbs) as I can get but under 82 for sure
Day/Weight/Comment
6/27 82.5 kg (182 lbs) - this is actually slightly up from yesterday. Not surprising, as I had a work thing with drinks and also had 2 small but very high sodium fried snacks. Healthy main meals though.
6/28 82.6 kg - again, really slightly up although I was super strict with staying within my calories. Even weighed my tiny bowl of low-cal icecream for dessert. Gonna chalk this one up to natural fluctuations and/or maybe lack of water - must remember to hydrate!
6/29 82.2 kg (181.2 lbs) - better! Stayed within calories, ate very healthily, drank tons of water (was peeing ALL day) and killed it at the gym so have trouble walking now but I'll take it! Now to not undo it over the weekend....
6/30 82.0 kg (180.7 lbs) - lowest I have been in a while. We had a friend plus kids over, and I had a couple of drinks, but watched what I ate so I guess the extra calories were offset by the fact that I had a very active day overall... BBQ tonight at other friends, but I am driving so not drinking - hope this will last!
7/01 82.4 kg - up from yummy BBQ foods. But I did not go crazy so I expect this is mostly water retention. Back on track today!
7/02 81.9 kg - pleased to end the weekend at a lower weight than going into it, without feeling like I deprived myself. Now to just keep at it!
7/03 81.5 kg (179.7 lbs) - did not log because baby WOULD NOT sleep, but ate relatively well and moved quite a bit. Happy with this!
7/04 81.5 kg - same as yesterday. Happy with this as I was feeling bloated (TOM is on the way...)
7/05 81.8 kg - and there it is, the TOM uptick... well, this is the textbook definition of a "natural fluctuation" I guess. Stayed within calories and drank enough, will just have to make sure to do the same tomorrow... Hope to end this round with a solid loss!
7/06 81.9 kg - still bloated, and DOMS from heavy workout yesterday, so this was to be expected even though i stayed well within calories - a couple more days and we will drop down again, and I did get under 82 so that's good.... Loved doing this though - posting here every day really made me extra motivated! Next round I will be on a holiday for most so won't be able to weigh, but after that I will def be back!!! Thanks everyone for the support!7 -

Man! This last 12 lbs is hard to shift! This process is not a quick fix. Sometimes motivation flags, but to get/remain fit and healthy requires an permanent lifestyle change. Going back to old habits will produce the same result as before, and I'm not prepared to waste all the work I have put in over the last 3+ years to get fit and healthy. Butt kicking is in order.
06/07: 167.2 Goals ✅ Whoosh!
Very relieved to be back on track. I have 4 days to build on this before I am off for a week with family. I am taking my scale with me to stay on track.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

Day/Weight/Comment
6/27: 176.6 Almost back to the point where I went off the rails.
6/28: 176.2 Not much urge to overeat in this heat.
6/29: 175.2 Might actually make my month-end goal after all.
6/30: 174.6 Drank loads of water yesterday. It's much easier to fit in at this time of year.
7/01: 173.6 Perfectly on plan all week; now I just need to not mess up at the last minute.
7/02: 174.2 I've had a great whoosh so I can live with this bounce back.
7/03: 174.6 Still bouncing back a little and it's still okay.
7/04: 173.2 Just .2 off a 30lb loss. I'll be really happy to pass that milestone.
7/05: 174.6 This round has been a real roller coaster. I've been perfectly on plan so I blame the heat.
7/06: 173.0 And another drop on this roller coaster. I really do think the heat is messing with me, but at least the general tendency is downwards.9
