Why wouldn't a keto diet be considered eating anything you want? People don't come with a default setting where we all have to like the same things and want to eat them. If you are eating foods you like and enjoy, then you're eating anything you want, regardless if it's keto, low carb, paleo, clean, vegetarian, vegan, IIFYM, flexible dieting, etc. I don't understand why people seem to think that others are making their lives more difficult by eating in a way that works for them.
You can still eat any keto foods without actually saying 'I'm doing keto'. By giving your diet a name it means that you are being restrictive and committing to never eating certain food groups which is a recipe for failure in my opinion.
But aren't all diets and changes to lifestyle restrictive? That's kind of the point. For me, I find that I need a strong framework to work within, it keeps me disciplined. If I knew that certain "bad" foods were on the table as a possibility, I wouldn't have the self-control to avoid them.
Depends on how you look at it. Personally, my diet isn't restrictive, it's just well managed. There is the base layer of habits, These happen with minimal if any willpower and discipline, and then there is the second layer of structure, happens with near minimal willpower. The third layer is the layer of responses, and what makes up the majority of my diet. Instead of rigid rules, bright lines, and bad foods, I have a dynamic situation->strategy framework. With each eating situation, I choose the easiest strategy that serves my goals but requires the least amount of willpower, so the need for discipline isn't great. My main goal is to make dieting easier, not harder.6 -

Why do Keto when you can lose weight eating anything you want? It honestly baffles me why people want to make weight loss so complicated
If it was that easy no one would be overweight. Me and my sister were diagnosed with pcos and both our Doctors said keto would be great for us. It isn't complicated, there is no cure for something like pcos, it's about diet and exercise and I tried lowering my calories and exercising more..what everyone seems to think works for everyone..guess what? I gained weight, bloating and constipation were a daily struggle and I felt sluggish. I am 2 weeks into keto and I have lost 2" off my waist, 3lbs, acne has cleared up and I feel so much better. Before keto I would never have seen a 3lb loss. It may not be much to some but for me it's amazing. You don't need to understand why people eat the way they do and going keto is not making anything complicated.8 -

Thanks to everyone showing support and giving informed advise/tips/recommendations.
I have accepted all your friends requests.
For the rest of you: how disappointing! I thought this was a different kind of community.
I'm not an ignorant. I have done a lot of research, talked to a Doctor, a qualified Dietitian, discussed different solutions to my health issues (which I will not discuss here) and yes, I decided I will give Keto a try. I have been preparing for this for weeks. I will follow a controled meal plan that has been created according to my taste, goals, nutritional needs and budget, and it will be reviewed every four weeks.
I absolutely LOVE all the foods in it and don't think I will miss the rest.
Can't wait for tomorrow!

I used Morton Lite Salt which contains potassium. Also I sipped on any flavor boullion (cubes) which game me a nice start on my sodium for the day. Don't forget that Himalayan Pink Salt has many of the things which will also help you avoid (or survive) the Keto flu. The weight loss is real.4

Not sure you've done enough reading on it. This is pretty common and readily available info. Most sources will warn you about the "keto flu" and what to do about it. I'm all for Keto or whatever gets ppl to their goals, but this one can lead to some deficiencies so be careful.2 -
I know it's only been a few days but how's it going? I'm trying to do Keto as well.
What have been some struggles you noticed?
I'm doing my best to prepare myself otherwise i know I might not stick with it0
