I'm focusing again this round on following the anti-inflammatory diet I started a couple of weeks ago, with daily walks and meditation.
Goals:
Food ~~ 1430 calories max; P 15-25%, C 35-50%, F 25-35%; anti-inflammatory diet.
Exercise: 60 minutes/day of walking/swimming + daily stretching.
Weight ~~ maintain or lose slowly.

Lots of special events coming up this week. A champagne breakfast for a friend tomorrow, Monday a retirement reception for our beloved pediatrician, Wednesday a goodbye lunch for our summer staff who are leaving to go back to school (Ethiopian food - tracking that will be a challenge). Also on Wednesday our wedding anniversary dinner 32 years! , and on Thursday an end of summer ( ) BBQ. I am hoping for maintenance this round.
8/26 181 Yay! Nice start for the round.
8/27 180.4 First special event successfully navigated! Followed by a long walk with my son in the evening.
8/28 180.4 Second special event successfully navigated, Sparkling water to drink and one mini lemon tart. Was able to stop at one!! Gonna treat myself to a mani-pedi this evening in anticipation of my anniversary.

Need to break my sugar addiction so I started trying to avoid added sugar in my diet on 8/20.
8/26 Didn’t weigh in
8/27 177.6
8/28 178.2. Not sure what happened here as I didn’t go over my calories and worked my tail off in my cycling class. Had an emotional meltdown last night as I’m struggling with sugar withdrawals. Going up is not going to help today’s mood.17 -

Round 51 – goal = go 24 hours without adult beverages and see what scale has to say
8/26 – to much work to do. And still very sore from laying tile yesterday.
8/27 – 197lbs – up 4 pounds from normal. Worked way to hard this weekend on bathroom remodeling. I am sore, tired, and ready for this project to be over with.
8/28 = 195lbs - not quite as sore today, project is nearly done. Ate 2 half pound burgers with ham, bacon, and all the fixings last night along with my typical beverage. Should have gained but somehow, I am down a little. yippee

Hmm - I somehow messed up my days last round. No surprises there as I have very little routine right now and all my days are bleeding together! Whoops.
8/26 - Sunday - 185.5
8/27 - Monday - 186.5 - So much salt the past few days. And so much moving. Got the table done, last heavy thing is the grill. Which is HEAVY. Landlord gave us the extra weekend to move/clean, yay! Still on an emotional roller coaster with the house - change is really hard for me. My dad reminded me that I cried when he painted the house, and also cried when they got rid of a 20 year old couch. So yeah, even good change is hard for me. But I'm learning not to hold to tightly to my feelings - the feelings come and go a little easier these days - I know its okay to feel scared of change, but I have to let it go and feel excited too! Applying these ideas to my weight loss journey too.
8/28 - Tuesday - 185.5 - More pizza and salt last night. Pretty wild day at work so I did not eat much, then basically binged when we finally ate. Need to avoid too skewed of eating and find a happy balance again. I need to start eating my breakfast protein shake again - not getting enough protein in general. And I find when I skip it I'm more likely to put off eating until I'm ravenous and it does not end well. Reminding myself in ALL aspects of my life that simply trying is the first and biggest hurdle for me. I've been stuck in a fixed mindset, that if I try something and fail, I'm somehow less smart because I did not succeed. But I'm moving towards a growth mindset - that trying and failing does not take anything away from me, it only gives me an opportunity to learn and grow from it - so keep trying!!!

Day/Weight/Comment
8/26 154.8 Impromptu much needed date night last night, adult beverages and fried appetizers but so w orth it. Last round was difficult, although I did pull it together at the end. My plan for this next 10 days is to continue my 5/7 days of exercise, log everything (some nights when I go off the rails I don't log) and get to152 for this round. My weight loss has slowed, but that is a direct result of my actions. Just remembering its a long game, not a sprint, and slow loss is still good because it is giving me more time to truly ingrain the habits and the lifestyle that will make this loss sustainable for the long haul.
8/27 WEIGH IN DAY 155.2 Hmmm...Too much snacking and not enough moving. Ate at maintenance yesterday. Today is Monday, a new week. I have had 2 rounds of stagnancy, this means that if I get a hold of my sticktoitiveness I can reach my 152.xx goal without much crying!
Time to refocus on why I am doing this.
1. I want to feel good about my body
2. Hard is good.
3. I like to work towards a goal.
4. I am setting an example for my family
5. This is the only body I get, and I want to take care of it
6. I really want to reach my goal and take an impromptu trip to Maui as a reward!
8/28 154.2 Good day yesterday eating, walking, and overall. Just piping in that it really helps me to read everyone's successes and challenges. We seem to go in waves...

8/26 162.4 new week new start. Ate good, walked around with my hubby but my water needs to be better, 1 liter. Hope everyone has a great week!!
8/27 161.6 90 min of endurance challenges (plank, crunches, pushups, squats) ate delicious healthy food and drank 1.5 liters of water. Happy to see this number!!!! I know (from experience) that if I keep this up I will easily reach the 50s. Having said that though, I know once I start my 50s those 10 pounds will be way harder to take off from the last 15. Not going to think about that now though, just planning to keep moving forward.
8/28-- 161.4 I drank a bottle of water before I weighed in....oops. Yesterday I had another boost of energy which I find is happening more often then it used too. I did 150 min of exercising, the only issue with that being I ended up staying up till 1 30 in the morning 😥😥 i took the day off because I am going to the hospital with my aunt for the day (nothing serious) so at least I got to sleep in longer then usual but i do need to better manage these energetic days. I was also less hungry, forcing down my food. I always feel like there is no comfortable medium for me I am either always hungry or not hungry at all. 1.6 liters of water

8/27 - 155.5 - I think I ate around maintenance calories last night, so this was probably some water retention. I had my cataract surgery this morning and then I ate the leftover birthday food today, so tomorrow probably won't be any better.

Second set of ten days for me. I am finally starting to notice a bit of difference. Clothing isn't as tight. Otherwise I still look pretty fat in the mirror.
But still a loooooong way to go. And I made sugar cookies for the grand daughter and learned that I do not yet and may never have, the willpower to resist freshly baked to perfection cookies. At least I didn't eat a dozen while watching that movie, just two! And I didn't frost them. But I also couldn't resist them the next morning either, so I am going to have to try making smaller batches(so there aren't any after we each have two) or maybe not make them at all. So far I've mostly, sort of, stuck pretty hard to my calories by simply NOT HAVING the super rich foods in the house at all. No chips, no candy, no ice cream, etc. And carrots without ranch aren't so bad.
Anyway. Starting weight for all this was 245.

Day/Weight/Comment
8/26 - 121.6 Had a lot going on (again). I was able to stick to my plan of no added sugar. Telling myself "I'm done eating" is difficult. The worst time of the day is at night... it seems like once I eat, I continue eating. The "Kitchen is Closed" sign is going to have have a padlock on it! Goal is to live this life for God and to be continually thankful for the life he has given me. I need to take care of this body in the best way I can. Sometimes my mind gets a little obsessed with food and I cave in. Yes, I know what I am supposed to do, but it is so hard and sometimes I give in which creates a spiraling effect.
8/27 - 121.6 – got a nice bike ride in. VERY humid and did the “big” hill!
8/28 – 123 – Did good yesterday and am thinking the weight gain is due to salt. I guess we’ll see tomorrow! Swam 30 minutes this morning, so I’m off to a good start!

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

Round 46 End Weight = 159.6 (5.2 lbs lost)
Round 47 End Weight = 157.2 (2.4 lbs lost)
Round 48 End Weight = 155.2 (2.0 lbs lost)
Round 49 End Weight = 151.2 (4.0 lbs lost)
Round 50 End Weight = 149.9 (1.3 lbs lost)
Stats = 5'4 female, age 48
Highest Weight = 172 lbs
Initial Goal Weight = 139 lbs (last weighed this is 2013)
Ultimate Goal Weight = 129 lbs (last weighed this in 2011)
Round 50 Goal: Anything under 149.0
Exercise Plan = The Betty Rocker 90 Day Challenge (in weeks 6-7 of 12), run outside 3-4 times a week, get 8,000-10,000 steps/day
Nutrition Plan = Continue to limit gluten, dairy, sugar, diet soda, alcohol & eat non-processed foods, protein/fruit/veg at every meal, complex carbs at breakfast and post workout meal, drink plenty of water.
8/26 = 149.9 (no change from yesterday) My sleep and nutrition are struggling, those go hand in hand. I've not going enough sleep since Wednesday of last week and my nutrition choices are suffering for it. I haven't been going over calories, just not make the best choices. I plan to grocery shop and do some meal prep today and get this under control. I completed day 35 of my 90 day challenge exercises yesterday, so it is the start of week 6 exercises on the plan today. School starts back here this Thursday and I'm really looking forward to it for selfish reasons. As soon as my daughter gets on the bus, I have time in the mornings before work to be able to get a quick run in or go for a walk. Summers are hard for me getting my runs in because even though she is 12, I can't leave her home alone even for a quick run and my husband is rarely home due to work. Wishing everyone a great start to Round 51!
8/27 = 149.9 (no change from yesterday) This seems to be a pattern the last couple of rounds, sticking at a certain weight for a couple of days at the beginning. No worries here Yesterday was a great exercise day, went for a 2 mile run, a 2 mile walk and did day 36 of 90: Body Squat to Knee Lift Crunch, Inchworms, Side Lunge to Front Lunge, Supermans with Alternating Extensions, Wall Hold Ups, Ninja Side Kicks, & Get Ups. My run felt really strong yesterday, I could feel new strength in my quads when I hit some hills. As a "recovering" distance runner, it has taken a while to settle in to doing these short runs instead but I am re-discovering my love of running in the process. It is much easier to love something that is making your body feel stronger compared to distance running which had evolved into something that was just taking a toll on my body with injuries. "Run often, run long, but never outrun your joy of running."
8/28 = 149.9 (no change from yesterday) So still holding at this number...Yesterday was a rest day in my exercise challenge and I ate closer to maintenance for calories. I am predicting the scale will drop tomorrow Today, I have day 38 of 90 exercises and I plan to get a walk in as well. I also took my measurements this morning. When I 1st started, I was taking these every 5 days, but have dropped to taking every week/week & half. I looked back to my start measurements on 6/14 and WOW! I have lost 5.5 inches on my waist & 6.5 inches on my bust. My measurements have decreased all over but those are the 2 biggest changes. Feeling very inspired now, if you haven't already done this, start now, take your measurements!
