heart rate almost triples when walking is this normal.

I hope that is not the case. my nephew has a heart issue (his mom has a different dad than I do) his is genetic as his mom passed it down to him(they did genetic testing) if his doesnt improve then he may need one put in. they are trying to see if meds help or not. so not sure If I developed heart issues from my dad (he had heart issues) or if my mom has a gene issue too. she passed away on the 4th of july from copd. my other sister whom also has a different dad has to have stents put in, dont know if hers is genetic or if its from years of abuding drugs,laxatives and binging and purging. I know that probably didnt help.10 -
UPDATE- they wanted me to see one cardiologist but hes booked until mid october so the woman that called me asked if I wanted to see one of the other ones. I said yes so aug 30th is my appt with the cardiologist. so hopefully hes a good one and I can get some more answers

when you had tests, did it include a stress test and did they give you a heart monitor to wear for 24 hours? That is really awfully high for someone that has that low a resting heart rate. The low resting late may be normal for you (my husband is the same), but they may not have looked at what happens to your heart when you are exercising. I would definitely want to talk to a cardio.2

no stress test as of yet. I said above I went to the ER and had to wear a holter monitor and it picked up that I have a heart rhythm disorder. if you wish to know more please go back a few posts. it also says Im seeing a cardiologist the end of the month1 -
tomorrow is my appt with the cardiologist. not sure if he will do any testing or not,but will update. havent had any big issues lately with a jump in heart rate so thats good.14

I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation in September 2000. I'm going on 18 years living with it. I've been on coumadin most of this time - the cardiologist had me on aspirin for a while but switched to coumadin based on newer research. Main problems I experience is occasional shortness of breath and chest pain; it comes and goes.
So you can live a good life for a long time with AFib, if it turns out you have it. The danger of AFib is that blood pools in the heart and produces a clot which can cause a stroke. I don't know about the other arrhythmias.
If they need to put you on a blood thinner, be *very careful* with the newer alternatives to coumadin, like the ones they constantly advertise on TV (Xarelto etc). The plus of them is: no dietary changes or regular blood tests. The minus of them is; if you start bleeding or need surgery, they may not be able to stop the bleeding at all - because it's impossible to reverse the effect of the drug; they don't have an antidote (at least not yet).
I had emergency gallbladder surgery while on vacation a few years ago -- they had to give me a vitamin K drip for a couple of days before they could operate to reverse the effect of the coumadin. If I'd been on one of the newer drugs, it would have been a much more dangerous situation. So if they say blood thinner, be sure to do your homework and ask plenty of questions.7 -

And please remember that if you have serious symptoms again like chest pain and weakness that you should head back to the ER. Even though you know the cause, arrhythmias can cause some very serious problems. Hopefully you get some answers from your cardiologist appointment tomorrow.1

yep I am going to ask him all sorts of questions and see if he wants to do a genetic test too as I have a sister(ame mom different dad) who is a carrier of a defective gene that causes heart issues ,she doesnt have it yet( 2 of her sons have the defect in their heart) so I will see if he wants to see if I have that or not. mom was never tested. cant think of the defect she has. but I do have mitral valve prolapse/regurgitation or did have,last test I had showed it had improved. hopefully I will find out soon.1 -
update: went to my appt. he could hear the "clicks" my heart makes from the MVP/MVR. he wants a nuclear stress test done and another echocardiogram. and we will go from there. the nurse said they will call me in the next week with appt times.11

I shouldnt have a long wait. probably sometime in sept im sure. because my next appt with him is oct 1st to go over the tests so that makes me think it wont be long.4 -
got an automated thing today that I have an appt in 2 days. no notice otherwise. well bad part is I cant go. I have no way to get there. we have no public transportation either. everyone is busy or so they say, we pay people to take us to appts (long story as to why that is) but it seems like everyone has a bee in their bonnet lately. so story of my life. so I guess I will cancel my appt and just deal with what may happen with my health. i even have to cancel my gastroenterologist appt for the 21st.2
