What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

To hopefully be able to donate blood again. 50 lbs ago it was no problem. But at the same time my weight has increased I've gotten more and more problems after donation. The most recent time I fainted and was dizzy for 6 weeks... I hope it will change back to being no problem once I lose a bit of weight. I love donating blood. I know, it's weird.10

That's awful @scribblemoma
My college's husband is in the army and only comes home 2 months a year. She's practically a single mum of four and she works bloody hard raising their kids, doing all the home chores, etc.7 -
I am doing it mainly for health reasons, but my petty reason is to look fine in a swimsuit. I love swimming, but since I put on weight, I've been so self-conscious because of the bad looks and comments from other swimmers, that I've stopped swimming.12

I don’t want to be a fat bride. That sounds mean but..i don’t. I don’t want to look at my wedding pictures on Facebook and cry. I started my journey exactly a year until my wedding. My weight loss has been EXTREMELY slow but I’d rather be the chubby bride than the fat one.12

I want to look good. Tired of looking like I'm still about 7m pregnant.
I'll be 39 in a couple of days and I just want to wear cute clothes. I love my nerdy graphic tees, but I want to wear form fitting cute sexy clothes too.
Plus there are A LOT of super fit moms at pick up at my daughter's school and I would love to join their ranks lol.6 -

As a military spouse for over 10 years and a work at home mom I get it. It's hard. But it's substantially harder when you put yourself dead last and let your health take a toll. The name calling I hate...but there's absolutely nothing that can be done to change it. Two things are a constant in the military: Dodging the music at 5PM and bashing on military spouses.8 -
I’m so sorry to hear that’s been your experience. Though I’m well versed in the art of dodging the music, I’d never heard those names for spouses and never heard of the spouse bashing. My husband has been in for 17 years now, and besides a few petty squabbles by different personalities, I’ve never seen or experienced anything but support from other military spouses. We’ve been stationed at 9 different places and each has been so very different, but always had at least a few wonderful people to get to know. I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through!
*I would add being invited to multilevel marketing parties as a constant though3 -
I want this weight loss because ive gained so much, that my fiancé he won't touch me because i'm to fat now. he hasn't hugged me or slept in the same room for months. I want him/us back. i want this for my kids... i'm so unhappy with myself..43

Oh, honey. That's on him, not you!!! If someone only 'loves' you when you're skinny, he doesn't love you at all.35 -

Agreed. My husband has loved me through thick, thin, pregnant, postpartum - truly in sickness and in health. Anything else would not be acceptable. By all means, lose weight for your own health and happiness but never EVER feel like you must lose weight to be worthy of another person's love and affection.29 -

Darling, that ain't love. Go to couples therapy if you can. Getting married is a huge commitment especially when kids are involved and your future husband treats you like that. <<hugs>>19 -

I want to staunchly declare that you should ditch the guy, but what do I know? Your life is not mine, and certainly not mine to decide about. But please take a long hard look at what you're getting from this relationship, and what you're giving up to it. Please consider whether you -and your kids - might be better off without this person. And whatever you decide to do, please be clear and honest with yourself about the reasons for your decision.
(Oh, and please accept my friend request. )

I want to lose for my wedding in June. I have wanted to lose for my health for years and have yoyo'd in weight so the wedding is really just that extra motivation I need to finally get to my goal. My fiancee doesn't care about my size and was a little irritated when I told him we couldn't get married until next year because I wanted to lose weight first 😁 but we've been together 12 years so what's 1 more? I have lost about 13 lbs in the last month since we decided to set a date! I want to get down to 135 ideally but I will be happy anywhere under 150. I also have a goal of 160 before I try on dresses. Super excited to finally lose this extra weight and get healthier 😊12

Second: to be capable of throwing out spanx... is that even real???🤷🏻♀️ after having my youngest, I’ll be shocked if that happens.
Third: to get to into tip top shape, so the next time I share how I’m doing it and someone suggests XYZ, I can share I’m pretty sure what I’ve done, has worked.
Haha my first reason is my wedding but I also am so excited for the holidays to show off my weight loss 🤣 I have 5 beautiful sisters who are all thinner than me. My mom is also thin and gorgeous. I am also the tallest so in pictures I always look huge compared to them. I have calculated how much I can weigh by Thanksgiving and Christmas lol. Petty I know but I can't wait to show off my weight loss!3 -
Mostly... to fit in all the cute clothes I have (and get new ones). Bonus: to GET MORE RESPECT. I think everyone knows, on some level, what I mean. It reaches across all parts of life from the cashier to the doctor.17

Petty reason !!! Great reason for me to kick start the mfp. Wait for it!! My work uniform is toooooo tight hehe its the dame truth6

Oh man I’m glad you never ran into it! You should glimpse at the FB page “Dear Dependa ii” to get a look at the general attitude toward military spouses presently. It’s downright hostile!
And oh man...those MLM parties! It’s a never ending cascade of folks trying to sell me stuff haha!

Holy wow...I’m so sorry. I couldn’t imagine my husband treating me that way (and I’ve been all sizes with him through the years). Please consider therapy for you two or at least sitting down together and being REALLY honest about your future. Loving you should never hinge entirely on how you look Wishing you the best!

I can't think of anyone I want to stick it to (except the overly critical self voice), but my superficial reason is because I'll be able to buy straight sizes and never have to buy *kitten* plus size clothes that look like circus tents no matter what you do to alter them. Screw the clothes industry. (Mainstream sewing patterns aren't much better, screw them too!)9

I am doing this for myself! I am finally learning to put myself forward and take care of me. My husband and I are finally going on our honeymoon (it will be 3 years later when we go in march)! I want to look good in what I am wearing and feel confident. I am tired of being out of breath and not be involved in my 7 year old active life because I had to sit on the sidelines.7

To get my wife, who is an overweight heart patient that smokes, to STFU about how to eat healthy. For maybe the first 20 pounds or so, she was telling me how I was doing it wrong, doomed to failure and losing too much muscle. Now that I am down 68 pounds, kept it of over 6 months and have the best physique that I have had in decades, she doesn't talk so much about her expertise in healthy eating.22

Slutty high heels. Sorry! LOL15

Well, I like to stay consistent, but venture to achieve that extra 5% every so often (lose only about 5 lbs) to tell my self I can still bring my "A" game physique despite not being in my prime youth anymore (blaming things on age is a poor excuse for lack of results). Also a very good lesson for my parents & siblings (play the genetics card...><).4

I have a few petty reasons.
- I travel to Japan and China from time to time, and I don't want to be the large American anymore. China is the worser of the two as complete strangers will tell you your fat in random conversations.
- I was at my largest weight when I got my BA and I hate the pictures from the graduation ceremony. In 1-1.5 years I will be getting my MA degree and I would like to look good in those pictures.
- I am a competitive cosplayer, and though I still win awards, it has severely limited the characters I can choose from. (I believe cosplay is for everyone and we should cosplay whoever we want regardless of shape/size/skin color/etc, but when it comes to competing judges do score larger cosplayers more harshly than they do skinny/fit cosplayers.) Below is a comparison of my skinny cosplays (first two pics) and my most recent one (last pic)
- I really liked how I looked when I was skinny and I felt more confident and happier then.

You don't treat someone you love like that. Love based on ultimatums and mistreatment isn't love. When you lose the weight, what will he decide he doesn't like about you next?19 -

I want to be able to walk into a store and buy clothes that I know will fit and look good. Trying to find nice clothes now is a demoralizing experience.5

Too smooth out the rolls and gain some self confidence!6

Seriously, make a plan and leave that situation.
