Missing my middle son's creatively messy artsy room. I used to look at his walls periodically to find the new art!

Did Jillian Michael’s No More Trouble Zones DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Body Flow DVD (I believe this is pilates – or else it’s yoga)
M – I’m so sorry to hear that you are in such pain. Glad the doctor is attending to at least an infection. If it turns out that it isn’t an infection, I’m sure she’ll then attack the possibility of TMJ. I’m sure you’ll get an answer pretty soon. Until then, I’m so sorry you have to be in such pain. Hopefully, it IS an infection and an antibiotic will take care of it so you’ll be out of pain.
Allie – when they do the house inspection, I would think that the fact that electrical work is need would come out. Then again, the inspector told us that one of the outlets was a GFI and it turns out that it wasn’t
Made avocado cookies for the husband of the gal whose house I play mahjongg at. His birthday was last week but they were out of the country and I won’t see him until this Monday. He’s a chemical engineer and Jess was getting rid of this apron that had the periodic table on it so I’m going to give that to him. I’m thinking that he’ll like it.
Did a load of laundry. Now I have to put it all away. Also making a cake for Pete’s birthday next week. I’m going to TRY to make it into the shape of a boat. Who knows if the post office will get it there in tact (I doubt it) so I’m going to take a picture of it before I send it.
Katla – BDS = bone density scan. I do hope your accountant is able to help you.
Strung some more popcorn. Vince is surprised that I’m not in the pool. I wish I could, but I really want to get the popcorn strung before the windy weather comes. I was scheduled to usher tonight and then lector tomorrow morning. I did tell the lady that any Saturday Except but she still scheduled me. I asked if someone could usher for me since she asked me to lector and to let me know if they would but no one let me know so I’ll go. The priest did say that I didn’t have to, that he would find someone to usher. But to me, this would drive home the fact that she’s making mistakes. Again I’m not scheduled to lector for the next two months. Tomorrow it’ll be 5 months since I last lectored. Well…at least that’s less than the other time. Once before she didn’t schedule me for 6 months and only did because I said something. Guess I have to wait another 3 months before I’m to lector again! Oh well…. I see others are schedule once a month, but not me. Not sure why. Update: did go to church and ushered. Realized that I was the only person she put on to usher for tonight. You need at least two people, honestly mainly because more than one person should be sorting the money. Anyway, this one guy said that he'd help me but he couldn't help me hand out the bulletins at the end of the mass because he had to do something with the KofC. So I asked another guy to help me. It's a good thing that I went. The priest was going to try to find someone for me but he would have had to find two people!
Jokatdan – welcome. You’re so right…better late than never. Tell us more about yourself and just jump in and post when you can

Fun Run Results:
Total Distance: 5.25km
Time: 36:11
Overall Place: 160/278
Gender Place: 66/153
Division Place: 8/20 ... division is age group + gender.
And I wasn't in the oldest age group, there were people in the 70-79 age group running/walking as well.
It rained, fairly heavily at times, while I was waiting to start, so a bunch of us were huddled in the building where they handed out the numbers. Then the sun came out and I jogged down to the start. The sun stayed out throughout the run and I discovered I was actually overdressed. Even though it was quite chilly, running + sunshine makes me very warm.
The last bit of the run was along a beach, on the sand, so that slowed me down a little bit ... but it was all right. And I was looking up along the edge to see my husband, and there he was!

It's a very quiet Sunday morning, DD and I have already walked Leah and had breakfast, son and grandson still in bed (lazy boys!) so thought it would be a good time to check in.
I've lapsed a bit on the exercise, but will get on with that again today, feel a little more positive than the last few days. I've been on a bit of a downer, I keep telling myself to live for the moment and not to dwell on the past, but sometimes this is easier said than done.
Heard the sad news that my Auntie had died quite suddenly, my cousin told me she was in hospital very poorly and they were checking for cancer, the next minute she was gone, she was only 77years old and as far as I knew in good health. You never know what is around the corner, hence me telling myself to live for the moment! Her funeral is in a few weeks.
Heather life goes on, it is coming up to 4 years this November since my beloved hubby died, our son Paul has moved back home because he split up with his partner (not amicably) and grandson was used a tool to hurt my son at first, but it has settled down now and we get to see my grandson every week, he even stayed over for a full week during the school holidays this year, but It's been a tough few years with one thing and another. I've had to learn to do a lot of things for myself, but I am getting quite good at putting flat pack units together
(just cube type units) but I am proud of myself
Sorry didn't mean to go on.
Machka you maybe have an infection, DD was finding it difficult to open her mouth and it turned out to be an abscess, she had to have a (broken) tooth out. Hope it gets sorted for you.
Better make a start on the day, doesn't look like the boys are getting up any time soon, I don't think we are going anywhere today, so if it doesn't rain I'll ask them to cut the hedge, it needs cutting before winter sets in and I find the clippers a bit heavy!
Have a good Sunday all.

Happy first day of autumn—(insert falling leaf emojis here). Crisp, fall air today! Will be sure to take a walk outside to soak it in. But first exercise, errands and chores.
We were out all day yesterday looking at foreclosure properties and skipped lunch!! Boy was I hungry by the time we got home. I think I will make an apple pie later on, after making yogurt and hummus - my go to food for the week
NYKAREN3 -
I find this very inspiring, I've been on my journey a few years and keep stalling but not giving up I WILL break lose and get to where I want to be.5

NYKAREN - I love hummus sooooooooooooo much that I'm afraid to make it. It's a trigger food for me, like Wholeearth peanut butter. OMG. I only have that when I go to my son's house, like today. Big treat.
Today it will be supermarket Entertaining food plus my son's cheese selection. I'm taking my AF wine, but I expect he will have something AF to give me. Hope so.
It will be difficult calorie wise as eating times will be all over the place with Edie's party, but it's only one day. I am still at goal weight wise after four and two thirds years.
Wet out there, but not as windy as predicted. They cancelled a big bicycle race, which looks as if it could have gone ahead after all.
Going to make lunch and then we are off.

Welcome, Cassie, we're glad you're here! Welcome to all the new ones. Tell us what you'd like us to call you, and where you are in general, so it helps us keep everybody straight. We've got ladies from the UK, Tasmania, NZ (where ARE you, Wendy?) and all over the US here.
A few cool fall days finally got to Arkansas, but we'll warm up again this week. The cool, rainy days are so beautiful here, as rain in West Texas usually had a tendency to be violent. Here, they are more "soft" days, much like those in the UK. Absolutely lovely, and got to drift off to sleep with the windows open, listening to the crickets.
Walked quite a bit of the property yesterday for the first time. Pure forest, the back 10 or so acres, and we'll need to take a machete next time (seriously) and clear a path along the fence lines, as we're not quite sure where the back line of the property ends. We need to go find the surveyor's stakes and blaze some trees along that line.
Got a little painting done, more to do this morning. The hazard to the cool, wet fall days is that my knee does NOT like it. But, then, it doesn't like much.
I'll be working out plenty today, but I'm on the hunt for some exercises I can do beginning tomorrow that don't involve that knee. Suggestions welcome--I'm right at my eight-month mark, and stalled again. Need to be exercising, and have been too mentally and physically exhausted to do it with all the travel. It's time to just get over it. I know I feel better when I exercise.
Love y'all,
I'll be putting some things up on the house blog this morning, and more tomorrow.

Viv, It takes a lot of practice to stay in the moment. If it weren't difficult, everyone would do it. At first I had to consciously say things to myself like "Here I am washing my dishes, here I am drying them, here I am looking out the window at my nice yard". After awhile I could just say "Stay in the moment." Another thing that helped me was to develop a nearly daily habit of meditation, which helped me get back to focusing on my breath when I noticed my mind wandering to the past, the future, worry, remorse, or anything else. A daily gratitude journal is another thing. Every morning I write down 5-10 things that I'm grateful for to focus my mind on what is right with my life instead of what's missing. My list includes really big things like health and my family and other things like the women on this thread, my washing machine, or my phone.
We got up a little early this morning so it may still be dark when we go out after breakfast. The earlier we go, the earlier we'll get home, and the earlier we'll get to the grocery store.

I hear what you're saying about indoor excercise, Michele, but I'm doing well with my efforts to keep up my jogging as we transition to the Arctic's cold, dark, winter. As of yesterday I've logged 405 km (just over 250 miles) since July 1.
Yay ME!
This is the season when we get lots of sandstorms.
Not exactly what you expect in the High Arctic, but we have sandstorms every year. Since there's little or no vegetation, the autumn winds pick up dust and sand and sweep them across the islands. That continues until the first big snowfall puts a lid on.
No sandstorm today, though. And it's time for me to go out jogging again

good late morning ladies~ I went down to feed DFIL this morning, he was being rude and spitting his food out so Tom and I left, when he is like that, no working with him....then came back and went over across the way to Gary's place, i told him I do odd jobs at a discounted rate of 10.00 an hr as he is on a limited income...so he had food that needed to be cooked ,I made him chicken over rice with mushroom soup and beef stew in a crock pot from what he had...
swept and washed the floors ,got the dishwasher unloaded and reloaded.. and took his garbage out...he has COPD very bad.. but I have to say... he creeps me out... I did what I had to do ,but dont think I will go back..6 -
Jokatdan51: Welcome to a great group.
Rori: I’m glad that you had such a good experience having your car detailed.
Machka: Congrats on an excellent Fun Run with your DH waiting for you at the finish line! I love the photos, especially the one of you with your big smile.
Viv: I’m sorry about the loss of your Auntie. At the lofty age of 69, 77 seems way too young. :flowerforyou:
Cassie_Cassie: Welcome to a great group.
Heather: Enjoy the birthday party and spending time with your son, DDIL & and their wonderful children.
Lisa: I’m glad that you are enjoying your new home and getting things done.
Penny: The photos of Longyearben are fabulous. Sorry if I’ve misspelled the name. :ohwell:
I’m going out to the stable and riding this afternoon. I think my friend who lets me ride her horse is frustrated with how unavailable I have been in recent weeks. I should get out there twice a week at least, but a combination of house guests and family obligations have kept me away. I’m probably looking like a big flake to her. This is also why I don’t buy a horse for myself. I am not in a position to give it the attention it would need.

Good morning, ladies. Should be almost good afternoon.
Been awol for a few days. Have had to go back to finish up logging food/exercise each day for several days now. Lots going on. Three nights out--in a row--for concert and ballet tickets. Loved that I could walk to the performances (only 5 blocks from my apartment, and yes, I included that in in my exercise total), but it totally threw off my daily routine.
Heather, what an ordeal with real estate transactions! I hope something finally gets resolved and you get to move where you want!
Going through a real estate challenge here, too, as part of the divorce. My husband and I own our house outright, which now has been vacant since he moved out last May and has not sold since it has been on the market for 4+ months. We've dropped the price twice, but the market in the town where the house is located is very seasonal--tied to the university calendar. If your house is on the market in the spring, much more chance of selling. The house didn't get on the market until mid-May (thanks to my husband dithering about where he would move) had an early low ball offer which we rejected and then the market died. My oldest son and his partner are thinking about buying the house, but it requires all kinds of creative thinking, and the agreement of our youngest son with the process. It's the last thing on his mind, as he is working on a PhD and completely involved with school. It's driving me nuts. The house is empty, my husband and I are both paying rent, and our youngest son is dragging his feet with looking at the options that our oldest son might have to make the purchase. Had brunch with my oldest son yesterday and he later talked to his brother. Maybe we'll get some feedback soon on whether one of the options for our oldest son to buy the house will work out, since it's not going to happen without his brother's agreement. Ugh.
And when I went to try and find this forum this morning, it wasn't in the side bar on my home page. Took me a while to find it!

wizzywig - Welcome back! I’m newly back too. Your post sounds familiar in tone. I think it may be the FLYLADY” reference. I followed her routine for a while, before my breathing and muscles made even her way too hard. Did you change your username? I’ve used “trucker743” since I started here, probably ten years ago. Do you have a name you prefer to use? I use “Sharon in the Seattle Area”, since it describes me both personally and geographically.
KJ Kelly - I just love the activities and walks you have the kids on. I have to admit, the video of the “Baby Shark” song cracks me up! Second childhood? Don’t know if I ever left the first. Yes, apparently Great Wolf Lidge is in lots of places.
mnhtnbb - I am going through the beginnings of the “multi-kids-one-house” thing. I own the home my kids spent vacation time visiting when their kids were young, and lots of good memories attached to it. It’s tough to get through the layers of sentiment, and none of them make it easy. Simple to say “It’s Yoyr house! Do what you want!” I would like to see my family in harmony instead of separated and stressed by emotional differences. We’ve been through that twice now - both for very difficult (read “criminal@!) issues. I would prefer to keep the peace.
GrandMallie - I hope you heed your instincts! Or at least figure out what about this fellow is triggering them. Doesn’t sound like he’d be capable of physical harm, but one never knows.
Great Wolf Lidge was a lot of fun. Instead of wasting my strength and energy on looooong hallways, the kids got a wheelchair from the Libby to get me back and forth to the water park area. I bobbed around in the wave pool, soaked in the indoor and outdoor hot tubs, and watched the adults playing like kids again themselves with Nicolas. He can swim better than any of the adults but my daughter. So he had great fun playing “keep away” on the last afternoon. It was all in fun, and after 2-½ days he was ready to head home the 2-½ hour ride. (Think Seattle traffic on a Friday afternoon!)
I was very glad to get home. No one else had a problem, but the bed was torture for me. Pillows were hard as rocks and I need several positioned at knees and back to sleep well. I will be SO GLAD to get the weight started coming off!

Katla ~ My husband has hundreds of email messages that he never bothers to get deleted. I clean mine up until the messages are empty each day or put them into categories.
I cleaned off my screened in porch today. Boy, it was and still is a mess. At one time it was a pleasant place to sit but now it needs painting and new screens. DH says there is no need to do it until we no longer have a dog. Ugh!0 -

Back home. Wonderful day. Edie loved her Anna dress we bought her, but Bea made such a fuss that she let her wear it for this photo.
Max enjoyed important conversation with DH.
DH went out in the garden with them and used some bamboo trimmings to make a den out of the climbing frame.
We sat inside and watched him entertain them all.
Lucky me.
Very tired now.
