Heather: Your grandchildren are adorable.
I went out to the stable today and rode Arrow. It has been weeks since my last ride due to family visitors and a road trip in the RV. He was a brat & bucked when I asked him to speed up to a trot. I’m not sure whether he’s mad because I was away for a long time, or because someone else rode him earlier in the day & he expected to lounge around for the rest of the day. I got my way and then put him back in his stall. No horses or old women were harmed during this event. It does remind me that we haven’t heard from Wendy in a while. I hope all is well with her.

Our internet is wonky, in and out. Frontier was supposed to be here last week but never showed up. I have been able to read on my phone but don't like posting on it. We had crazy rain yesterday that flooded the goat shed again. We are trying to figure out a way to put up a gutter to route water away from the doorway but all the roof studs are different lengths and don't extend far enough for the gutter to catch the water from the roof. I have a cardiac stress test scheduled tomorrow. They said it would take a minimum of three hours at the hospital. Not looking forward to this. I am off caffeine for 24 hours and nothing to eat after midnight. The test does not start until 10:45 am. I think I am going to be really hungry when this is over.
Rebecca - DD has 2 new kittens that came from a Whidbey island rescue, Oskar and Rynn. I will try to post a picture.
Heather - Glad the birthday party went off well.
Katla - Hope you have a good ride and it is not too muddy.
Lisa - We have a machete but it does not do much good on blackberry vines. We have yet to see the back of our property, not at all sure we could find the markers. We did not find a boat on our property but we did find an old 300-gallon oil tank. It is a treasure hunt every time we get some of it cleared.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

the grands, Heather!
Good day at the mountain house, and may get the shower surround that will replace the tub professionally installed this week. Might mean an October move-in date after all, but trying not to hope for that yet.

Did the Body Flow DVD. This is primarily yoga. I’d just forgotten. I should do more yoga. I know, I’ve said that before. Somehow I need to get myself motivated to do yoga. I don’t seem to have a problem doing strength or cardio, so why yoga?
Anyway, the plan for tomorrow is to do some hula hoop, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class.
M – how wonderful that your husband was at the run.
Viv – I’m so sorry about your aunt
I’m thinking that I may do just a bit more stringing of the popcorn. Really, I probably have enough but I want to use up the thread that’s on the spool. It probably won’t take me real long to do that. Then I think I’ll be finished.
Penny – I’m sure that up there, they are very very good at removing the snow. I know when we lived in the Poconos, they took much better care of the roads than they do down here. But then again, they’re used to the snow whereas down here snow is a real oddity. Good for you getting out and running!
I just got a confirmation. The guy who is “building” the new website (I’m not even sure if that’s what he’s doing, I’m thinking that is what he's doing because there’s a lot of duplicate information. I’m thinking that the plan is to do away with the old website and just have this new one) wants all new members to be “activated”. That’s fine, but he just told me that the two gals who are going to be taking over the website and him as backup will be the ones to activate. To me, it would be more efficient if the person who does the membership activates the account. How is it going to look if that person sends a new member a link to register but they can’t because they haven’t been activated yet. My opinion is that the person who puts them into the system should activate them before sending out that link.
Sue in WA – hope your test comes out fine.

I hear what you're saying about indoor excercise, Michele, but I'm doing well with my efforts to keep up my jogging as we transition to the Arctic's cold, dark, winter. As of yesterday I've logged 405 km (just over 250 miles) since July 1.
Yay ME!
This is the season when we get lots of sandstorms.
Not exactly what you expect in the High Arctic, but we have sandstorms every year. Since there's little or no vegetation, the autumn winds pick up dust and sand and sweep them across the islands. That continues until the first big snowfall puts a lid on.
No sandstorm today, though. And it's time for me to go out jogging again

It is beautiful there in a very stark and dramatic way. I would imagine that it changes with different light ... when the sun is in different positions.

Allie poor dear, drink some tea to help settle the tummy.
Made some yummy whole milk yogurt and strained it all while my friend was having a cup of tea in my kitchen, delightful! After she left I prepped hummus and tahini and set up roast chicken with sweet potatoes for dinner, tasty and plenty of leftovers for the week of lunches.
The thermostat wars are about to begin and it's still September! Last night was the first chilly night of the season and DH is already complaining how cold he feels, really his blood doesn't circulate, his legs are really cold! It just makes it clear that we will need to move to a much warmer climate than NY when we retire. We just don't know where.....
Have a healthy and happy day NYKAREN2 -
Had an email from our estate agent to say that the buyer's lender is querying what they are doing with their current property. Ugh! :noway: The financial advisor is liaising with the lender to sort it out.
I am fed fed fed fed up.

Morning Ladies~
I woke up around 3:15 with severe stomach cramps so was awake until 4::45 and finally fell back asleep and woke at 6.. feeling a bit better took a shower and am dressed for the day....working 9-5 today and hoping Lil remembers to come take care of the boy....
I can't believe it is only 11 days until we bury my dad... another day of sorrow.. but knowing at least this is what he wanted... going to have everyone back here for a little get together...and hopefully by then we have sold the house... they are writing up the contract now... in the end we sold it for 159.000 ,but will be taking on the closing costs so it will be 154,000.. I am hoping that will take care of all that needs to be paid off...
I don't care how bad you ever need money a reverse mortgage is only good for someone that has no heirs that have to deal with the aftermath...
after the 5th of October .. here is hoping things settle down...3 -
Allie and Heather - much sympathy to you both. Tough times. Hang in there! I know it's not useful advice, wish I had some for either of you.
Egg is being very clingy and loving this morning, which is nice, but makes it hard to type. Not looking forward to acclimating her to the new house. Took her a couple months in North Carolina to be willing to come out and socialize, but there she was adjusting to a German shepherd, a labrador, a large male cat and two strange adults. Hopefully, with just our son and his cat, Murr, she'll be able to adjust more quickly. Murr is a stray that wandered up, who was far too thin, but obviously a house cat for most of his life, and spayed. He adopted Johnny a month or so ago. He's a pretty cool cat.
We're going to be using one of the bedrooms for storage, so we'll make that her place for the initial move, someplace where she can go and hide, and come out as and when she's ready to do so. Must be hard when you're that scared. Perhaps the fact that she was born feral? I don't know, honestly.
Big decisions this weekend at the mountain house, and the two major pieces purchased that might (fingers crossed!) get us in the house. Timing, as always, at the mercy of others. *sigh* Such is life.
And... the two-day trip at the end of October has turned into another week-long marathon trip. It's like hitting yourself over the head with a hammer because it feels so good when you stop doing that, finally.
Love y'all,

Just changed my username (the LisaInNCNow was confusing, now that we've moved again). Didn't even know I could, but evidently, you can change it once. Only once. However, it's still showing my posts with the NCNow designation. Got to love technology!

Superhero Day! I feeling less than super. Not sick; just tired. Reading your posts as I try to jump start my body with coffee. A cup big enough for me to sit in would probably do it. Oy. I have capes and masks ready for the kids, Superhero activities and crafts, Superhero deco up. We will get a walk in and do our super stuff, and hopefully they will take a super nap! lol Trentin today after school until 8pm. I will be in bed by 8:15.
Hugs to all who need them! Heather- So sorry about the ongoing buyer chain issues! I read your recent comment and thought "Oh Lord! Breathe, Heather, just breathe."
Time to change into my super suit. Up, up, and away! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -
KJ - You really are Superwoman. Gosh, you need some downtime!
Went for my run. The best stress buster. Two great podcasts. Beautiful sunny day. Perfect temperature.
DH has cricket this week, so I can't offload onto him until he gets home this evening. Great weather for the last game of the season. I'm at yoga Tuesday and lunching Wednesday, so won't be too lonely.
Allie - really hope it all works out for you and you get some peace.
I have messaged Wendy, but no reply as yet.

Heather: You are lucky, indeed. You can see your grandchildren without going to an airport. Mine are thousands of miles away. We either have to fly, which is a misery, or drive for days. Color me green with envy. I am sorry about the real estate woes. :flowerforyou:
Sue in WA: We had a dry day yesterday, but I rode inside the arena anyway. Arrow was a brat. Someone else had ridden him earlier in the day and he resented being brought out of his paddock for another ride. I am very reluctant to go off on a trail ride alone. My trail riding friend is still unable to ride her horse on any but level and easy terrain due to laminitis in her front feet. The hooves are healing, but it is a very slow process. :ohwell:
Michele: It sounds like the new guy in your group wants to make changes. It would be good if he’d do the things that you suggest. Your ideas make much better sense to me. :ohwell:
Barbie: Are you knitting hats? I haven’t wanted to knit since DDIL asked for a whole lot of washcloths for our grandson. She wanted them all to be red, and although I had several patterns, she wanted them all alike. BORING. :ohwell:
(((Alison))): I hope the stomach cramps go away ASAP. Peter Rabbit’s mom recommends Chamomile tea. So do I. I agree with you about the reverse mortgage. :flowerforyou:
Lisa: I love hearing from you wherever you are. I hope the move goes smoothly.
KJ: A cup of coffee big enough to sit in sounds extraordinary and reminds me of the bathtub gin in the prohibition era. Luckily nobody has prohibited coffee.
I am planning to go to yoga today. WOOHOO!!! I have been missing it due to a combination of medical appointments for DH and travel. Today DD’s houses are closing—the one she is selling in CO and the one she is buying in IL. She wants us to come for Christmas and DH is not willing to fly. Driving the RV to Illinois in winter seems like insanity. I’m not sure what we can do.

Katla, I know how frustrating it is when your exercise program gets derailed by health, family, travel, doctor's appointments, etc. Glad you have gotten some chance to ride and go to yoga again. I knit only for charity so I can knit whatever I want and in whatever color, size, or quantity. I used up all the cotton yarn on chemo and preemie caps, knit another regular hat for a homeless charity, and am now knitting a blanket for Project Linus using yarn that was donated to them that I got free. I like knitting blankets during the winter because as they get bigger, they keep me warm while I knit. Right now, knitting in bed is a challenge because frequently Bernie, the cat, wants to "help' by batting or biting at the yarn or needles.
Heather Keep on keeping busy so you don't get discouraged
Allie, You can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel with this mess with your dad's house.
Kelly, I think you are a super hero. Have a great day.
One Halloween when I was teaching, a parent asked to come spend the day in my first grade classroom. He was a dad who worked out of town most of the time and he wanted to do something that involved his daughter. He was helpful and friendly but several times I saw odd looks on his face and I thought he was disapproving of me as a teacher. At the end of the day, he thanked me for letting him be there and then told him that he was in awe of what I did and couldn't imagine how anybody could do all that all the time. He thanked me for all I did for children.6 -
Kelly - what would happen if you got sick - like had the pukey flu or something? Do you have a B-team in reserve that could helps out for a day or two? Or do you just kick it into reserve "Mom" mode who gets everything done despite how she is feeling? I think YOU are a superhero!!
Penny - seeing those houses and that landscape gets me in the mood to watch the Lilyhammer series on Netflix again. If any of you were Sopranos fans and want to watch an engaging series set in Norway, this is the one for you.
Heather - ((((HUGS)))) I really admire you for staying on your eating and exercise regime and basically AF throughout this house purchase situation. Thank you for sharing the photos of your grands! OMG that photo of Edie and Bea is just priceless. I can see why you look forward to visiting!! Thank you for messaging Wendy! Hope no news is good news at her end.
Katla - "no horses or old women were harmed during this event" - I nearly spit my coffee all over this laptop, lol. Crossing fingers that CO tax situation gets resolved with just signing some paperwork with the right people in CO. Interesting to know that others have been through similar with other states.
Rye - (((HUGS))) for your situation. When our DH's are troubled and especially if it involves money, it can be a time of little sleep. I've been there.
I spent the weekend reviewing Mosley's books and getting meal planning done per the 5:2 strategy. I'd fallen off the wagon a hair, lol. Hallowe'en candy anyone? Why do the stores put it out right after Labor Day? Sheesh. Reading about the evils of sugar again and again seems to help even more than Pip's boot if you can believe that. Got plenty of walking and strength training done.
Took a minute to review my blood test results from past years.... It's been over 2 years since B12 and D3 were tested, and I was low on the B12 in 2016 and just met the D3 threshold in 2015, so have been upping the supplements (sublingual lozenges for the B12). So looks like it's time to recheck those levels. Will message my doc this morning to see about getting a blood draw.
It was 39 here when I got up an hour ago and now has zoomed up to 43. Great sleeping weather.
I slept like a lamb.... since I tend to wake up with totally unmanageable hair in the morning, I wore a "nightcap" like granny wears in the fairy tale illustrations, hoping it would keep things in line. Not sure why I ever bought it, actually, and it took a while to find it. So I was surprised when I glanced at the clock this morning and it was after 5 - I normally wake up at 4. Maybe that nightcap (just a cheap little satin thing with elastic around it like a shower cap) kept my head warm? Anyhow my hair is somewhat decent too, lol.
That's the weekend update. Have a great week, ladies!
Lanette
SW WA State5 -
Good Morning ladies! I reached my goal for the month! I am down and even 15 pounds! The next few weeks are going to be a bit of a challenge as we have a few concerts to attend and a family reunion out of town. I am glad however, that I joined a gym where I can use their out of town facilities free!
Plus I have been a bit anxious as we are going to sell my SUV that I have owned for 14 years. It's like getting rid of part of the family. It still runs great, but it's time to get something new. Car buying is something I dislike *Blah* .
As I opened up the house this morning I noticed our weather is finally cooling down in the morning. It felt great. It's also nice not to have the air filled with smoke with the recent fires around CA.
Have a productive week ladies

Suitelady, I understand your feelings about replacing your car. I tell my husband, that if it weren't for him pressuring me, I'd still be driving my 1985 Buick Somerset. Where do you live that you have been affected by the fires in California? Best wishes on your eating challenges. Stay with the basics and get some exercise and you'll be fine.
Lanette, I made nightcaps for myself when I lived in an old house with odd heating and huge windows. The nightcap kept me toasty warm so I could sleep well at night.
I am trying to not think about my doctor's appointment this morning. There are so many possibilities of what she could tell me and not all of them are good. I try to not remember that when I saw her a month ago, her news sent me into two days of horrible despair. This could be good news.
