    Afternoon all,

Hit the gym early this morning, got my tummy and lats exercised using the weights then headed for a very brisk walk on the treadmill for 50 minutes. Did run a 1/2 mile in the middle of that, then decided Id keep it at a walking pace until the last minute or so cuz I was just too darn tired.

Im due a visit from AF next week and Im starting to feel it. More tired, bloaty.. ect. Havent seen the scale budge either direction yet, so this is a good thing! I usually gain about 2-3 pounds during that time so Im hoping that no change either way means when this is all over with I'll be down a a good few pounds. We'll see. I have been very good with eating, so there really is no reason why I would pack any back on.

Tested my BMI at the gym today. First time in 2 weeks. Im down to 31.1 which is a big improvement over the 34.6 I was about 3 weeks ago when I first took it. Body fat percentage was 34% which I was thrilled with since last time I was up in the 40's.

Anywho.. off to get some stuff done today and look for a new job... ugh

Losingit4good: Hey great stuff! I checked my BMI today too. Down to 31.9 from 33. Feels good doesn't it :noway:

Went on the treadmill again. Managed to take 30 seconds off my time from yesterday. I am exhausted.
  • andersonchristine - Great advice - thanks for the post. I'm going to go this weekend and find a good route - I'm excited! My neighborhood is tiny - if I make the block four times it's a mile but it gets boring in just a mile so I sure don't want to wog it for 3 miles! BUT they just completed a beautiful 45 mile walking/running trail in our Parish (what most of you call a County), so I'm going to go there I think! So how long did it take you to get up to the 3.1 miles jogging??? I want a ballpart so I can look for a run to participate in. Thanks:bigsmile:

I was able to finish 3.1 miles without stopping in about 3 weeks. That was 6 times a week. The first week was horrible. That metallic taste in your mouth and the roughness in your throat. But your body gets used to it pretty quick. I'd give yourself about a month if you're starting from square one like I did. I wouldn't pick a date too far out though because I tend to procrastinate when I dont feel pressured.

Wah!!!!   I think my ear is already getting infected!!! I went into the bathroom after dinner and turned on the light and my ear is all red! Oh no! the earring is sooo cute! (Ok, how vain am I???) I put a bunch of the disinfectant plus alcohol plus peroxide on it, and I will give it until morning, but if it is still red - out comes the earring and off I go to the doc. I am sooooo bummed!

Markay - feel better sweets! Take care of yourself - drink lots of fluids, stay warm!:flowerforyou:

Losingit and Healthymom - good job on the BMI decrease - yay both of you!:drinker:

Anita and Losingit - good luck on the job hunt. I was able to pick up some transcription work to get me through the interim - but I am still job hunting too. I'll say a prayer for you too, please keep me in yours.

Getfit - Just fyi - I was using peroxide on one of my son's infected knee scrapes (he was a skate boarder) a few years ago and finally had to take him to the doc - doc told me peroxide not only attacks the germs but can damage the good tissue in a wound. And I know E.M.T.s only use saline to clean wounds and never peroxide for the same reasons... Piercing places usually provide a witch hazel solution that is better than peroxide - but you should call your doc at the very least and see if there is something else to use before you give up the cuteness of the new pierce!! Hope it's better:smile:

CM - I know they make a stop watch that can be set with interval times - my sister used them in swim training (she was a coach). I'll ask her about them and let you know what she says - may be just what you need for wogging outside!

So this is my rough time of night - everyone's in bed, too early for me to go to bed. (It's 8:30 pm). I have no calories left but I'm bored hungry, you know? Had a good dinner and a snack and I saved calories for that snack... I shouldn't eat now regardless of how good it might be for me, because I'm out of calories for the day.

    Any suggestions?

Oh yeah and I REALLY don't want to eat because I dropped another 1/4 pound today... don't want to gain that thing back!!!
  • i went to the gym today and ran 3 miles i was happy i have never done that. it was good for me. my weight loss i going great and i still am drinkin water. my whole family is now sick with the flu that i had last week i hope i dont get it again.

Adopt4 - howdy! I have become an ice muncher. I get bored hungry too, so after dinner or dessert I fill two cups with ice, leave one on the cabinet and put one in the fridge - I like softer ice, so I let them sit awhile, then I munch on the one from the cabinet and move the one in the fridge out to the cabinet to soften. Sometimes I squeeze a little lime or lemon over it... and that's my nighttime munchie.

Thanks everyone! It does feel incrediably great! Very motivating to know that all this hard work is paying off for my health :) Altho.. I have to admit I caved today in a big way... LOL

Took my oldest DD (17) to the Dr today. They refered her to a gastroenterologist for more tests. Shes been having trouble with blood in her stool for the past 2 weeks and having her eat more fiber and drink more water hasnt helped. Hopefully I can get her in there soon to get checked out more. Poor kid.

Anyway...after running her to the Dr we stopped at walmart to get a prescription filled. She is such a bad influence!!! She was like "mmmmmmm mom, chocolate malted easter eggs!!!" to which I replied.."Shelby, you are a BAD influence on my waistline...now back away from that candy!!" HAHA!
Then when we were leaving, she spied the McDonalds inside the walmart and was like "Ohh Im soooooo hungry... lets get french fries!!" :noway: :grumble: :noway:  I gave her a couple bucks and she went and got herself some fries. God knows her skinny butt can eat them no problem..LOL We got to the car and I was sitting there next to her... smelling her fries.... and kept saying "you dont wanna do it, you dont wanna do it...." Followed by "god damnit, give me some of those fries!!"

Needless to say, I ate half of her french fries of which I justified with ANOTHER workout today....went to water aerobics and sat in the sauna for 20 minutes. Gotta go log it into my journal now so I know just how horrible they are..  Its amazing how bad food can give you such mixed emotions.. :frown:

Okay, I am going to try wogging. I hate to run because of bad knee cartlidge but I’m going to try it with Christine’s advice to not push but set a goal and try to get to it. I’m not signing up for any “-A-thons” though.
Li4g – I’m joining your challenge, starting tomorrow. You guys scared-ed me with all your Jillian-ness.eek-1.gif

Lacijae – I love my ZUMBA DVD series. Many here on MFP say they like Tae-bo or Turbo Jam. Try renting a few different types from a video rental first, to find what you like. Some libraries have workout DVDs.

Crystal Lite counts as water. But I wouldn’t be drinking 84 oz of Crystal Lite. I’d be miserable with that high a dose! I would have a killer headache and be tied to the bathroom, and not in a good way…..

Woggers: Great job everyone! Kelly (adamk) – that’s awesome you ran 3 miles! You all are inspiring me to join the challenge.Woohoo-Dance.gif

I’m also starting the 100-Pushup Challenge. Can’t do all quads and glutes, now can I?

I'm lucky, at our WalMart they have Subway instead of McDonald's. It still smells good because of the bread baking all day, but at least if we decide to eat lunch there it's ok. You are doing so well, I don't think one fry-attack will mess you up.

Hey Ladies! I wrote this yesterday and fell asleep before posting! lol

Yesterday I walked a mile. Not much. But I was super busy studying and I'm proud of staying active regardless.

I stuck to my caloric goals today. :-)

    I drunk ~80 oz today

Taebo- 33 mins 400 calories according to heart rate monitor!
    Walked 2 miles
    Bike 60 mins
Random exercises like jumping Jacks, push ups and crunches!
AMAZING because I am studying HARD for my test Friday! But you can read on the bike!!! Maybe not as intense but definitely more calories than sitting in a chair!

Be careful! My body is going to be smoking HOT! I am working out as much as I can to look good and feel confident on my cruise.

edited to add @ midnight! I just did 60 mins on bike* Precounted bike earlier! lol... * + 35 mins on treadmill!!! YAY

So I did a total of 2 hours 14 mins exercise today
    burned 1427 calories
Ate 1550 calories.. .BEFORE my midnight snack of grapes and serving of light popcorn w. herbal tea. I broke my promise of not eating after 8 but I am happy it was a healthy choice

    add 20 oz of H20

Ok so an Update for the Woggers Challenge

So Far I have the following people participating in this (please insert your stats if ya wanna)

    Goal Time/Goal Distance/Current Time/Improvement
    Zano:
    Losingit4Good 15 minutes/ 1.5 miles/ 22:23/ -8 minutes
    HealthyMom
    CMRiverside

If there is anyone I missed, Please send me a message and I'll add you on.

Also, The goal here is to NOT hurt yourself. Some Guidelines:

1.) Protect those knees, hips, backs, ankles. You dont wanna hurt yourself and not be able to exercise at all.
2.) If you are new to wogging then take it slow. Go at whatever pace feels comfortable for you each an every time you wog.
3.) Drink lots of water! This will help your muscles to not become "as sore" the next day.
4.) Do a warm up before running. Start with walking first, then work in little jogs here and there.
5.) Do a warm down when you are finished. Slow paced walking.
5.) STRETCH when you are done. Always stretch your calves & hamstrings at the very least. (If youd like some suggestions, let me know) Other muscles like your back, shoulders could use it as well to keep you from tightening up. Either way, stretching elongates muscles and are best stretched once they are warmed up.

Our goal is to reach 1.5 miles by April. We never really set a date in April. If you wanna reach for May or even June..thats cool too. Again, do what feels comfortable your you so you dont hurt yourself :) If you can already meet this challenge and want to share a different running or wogging goal, feel free to join us too!!

You need to EAT WAY MORE!!!!

If you are on a 1200 day count - you should have eaten a minumum of 2200- 2500 calories yesterday. You are setting yourself up for failure. Read this:

    Hi CMriverside!

Thanks for the link. I have a test tomorrow so I will read it then! I actually enjoy exercise so it's usually not a struggle for me... once I get going. My problem is eatig too many calories/ junk food *in the past* So that is where I usually keep my focus. I can almost guarantee you that I have NEVER eaten 1200 calories. No matter how much I try to stay in 1200-1550 cal goal *determined by my program created from another exercise website*... it doesn't work. so if I'm completely honest I eat like 1700-2000 cals a day. This still may be too low... as I am often confused as to how many calories I need per day without having TOO many or TOO few... because I do understand that starvation only makes the body shutdown. I ate probably 1700 cals yesterday including my midnight snack * 1550 before my popcorn and grapes snack... Most of my exercise/eating changes regulary because my schedule is so chaotic. Sometimes I have time to do more... so I do! And sometimes all I can fit in is a 1 mile walk... like tuesday :-) Thanks for the concern! I will read that article ASAP.

OH and thanks for the Ticker lesson! I finally added it! YAY!

    Wish me luck tomorrow!!!
