WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR OCTOBER 2018

hiz9qy622vxl.jpgnl0atvk4omiq.jpg

:) Seasons are changing in October. Autumn is emerging in the Northern Hemisphere and spring is showing up in the Southern Hemisphere. Change in the seasons can inspire changes in health and fitness routines. I hope all of ours can be changes for the better.
How did you do with your goals and resolutions for September?

What goals and resolutions do you have for October?

My journey to health and fitness has been successful in large part to the support I've gotten from the women on the "Women Ages 50+" thread. Thank you to all of you who have supported and encouraged me and welcome to all who are joining us for the first time.

Don't forget to bookmark this page so you can find it again.

My word for 2018 is "tenacity".

Resolutions for September (with end of the month comments)
*keep following the doctor's directions (every day)
*log food and water daily (every day)

Resolutions for October
*gradually increase exercise
*work harder on scanning project
*plant new bulbs

:)Mary, you were so wise to ask your friends on this thread to proofread your letter. Michele did a great job of pointing out the few tiny issues that needed to be cleared up. Good luck on the presentation of your letter.

Barbie- thanks! I have never been in front of a city council before. I have no problem teaching 8th graders but public speaking scares me. At least I now have a letter that thanks to Michele should speak for itself! I'm happy to hear about the progress you are making with your back!

    Thank you, Barbie!

Rori I watched Anthony Bourdain, too. Loved the cheese caves. And the little cartoon. <3

One September highlight was running a 5 km event, another was the fact that my husband and I were able to get out for a few short bicycle rides. I've also been progressing through my university course ... down to the last 3 assignments. And I haven't entirely gone crazy with my husband's care situation ... almost ... but not entirely.

    October!

First day of October today, and October presented us with a pretty decent spring day. It has been spring for a month already, but we haven't had a lot of decent spring weather in that time. Today, however, I was walking in shirt-sleeves, the wind wasn't too bad, and the sun was out! :)

Margaret- thanks! I hope all goes well and we can head back to Arizona soon. I really don't want to have to stay longer because we have to go to court. I can't believe how cold it has been lately. Hopefully it will warm up this week! Stay warm :)

    Thanks Barbie for new thread

    OKIE belated happy birthday
HEATHER happy birthday for tomorrow and hope you hear good news re house sale

Had some sad news at the weekend my SIL has early onset dementia, feel so sorry for her and of course my brother who is the most patient caring person I know. They live in North Wales so I can't be much help. So with this and my 2 friends who are both very ill, I'm stressed and what happens when I'm stressed, I get the munchies, so weight is creeping up. Need to stop.

Nice event coming to Liverpool this week, we have a return visit by the Giants from French company Royal de Luxe, this is the third and last visit. I will try to post a link and will post pics next week

Viv- I love the way you describe the relationship between you and Leah! As you may know I gave my daughter my dog Shep for a three week trial period. I think when I go into town tomorrow I am going to let her know that I am taking him back with me. I think not having him around is making me really cranky!! Amazing how much animals affect people.

    Kate- (((Hugs)))

Barbie love the autumn pics and the encouragement <3

Janet OKC I like your attitude "onward and downward", :)

Okie sounds like a great way to celebrate a birthday :)

Here are September goals with comments:

    1. Exercise in some way everyday--HIT
    2. Stretch every day--Miss
    3. Meal prep and eat home cooked food and coffee--HIT
    4. Log my food—Big Miss
    5. Journal every day about gratitude and tasks--HIT

Looks like I have to work at logging, I think it will help me get to that goal of maintenance weight before winter that I am aiming for. Journaling is an awesome habit for me and I’m looking forward to continuing this positive step. I just need to create a trigger (like Barbie talks about) to initiate stretching first thing in the a.m.

On the positive side, my meal prepping is keeping me satisfied so I’m just not eating at night like I was this summer. I have a fairly moderate dinner before 6 p.m. and stop eating at that point. I’ll take that as real progress for me.

Looking forward to taking it one day at a time through October with all of you.

Thanks Barbie for this thread and your inspiration! Beautiful, colorful pics :)
Rye Thanks! Advil and Chiro have had a good effect on the rib. Will test it out on the floor tomorrow morning ;)
Katla Neither could I log into mfp from my phone yesterday after it's been warning me for a few days that it would force a password change. Neither do I log into MFP using facebook, (nor even my email address) but stick with my original mfp screen name. Went to my pc and it didn't like any of the passwords I remembered, so I clicked the "forgot password link", opened the email, followed the link and changed the password BACK TO WHAT I HAD IT ORIGINALLY. It worked on the pc and now I can log in from my phone too. Hope this works for you!
Lanette their undercoats are very soft, the guard hairs are a little coarser, not so silky, still pleasant to stroke.
Welcome Deb and congrats on your progress!
Allie and Tracey, Touched by an Angel was great. Wish there were more shows like it today, thankful for YouTube.
Okie, Belated best birthday wishes! Your DH must really love you to give you such a present ;)
    Mary, go get 'em gal! Must confess to a sigh of relief at your decision to reclaim Shep. ;}
Viv "cheekier by the day" BIG smile. https://www.amazon.com/Chuckit-Glow-Bright-Playtime-Night/dp/B00QT4I274/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1538383938&sr=8-4&keywords=chuckit+glow
Michele thought I was a fair proofreader, but you left me in the dust! Well done!
Kate thanks for the links, was having trouble imagining the French Giants (other than Andre).
    Suebdew safe travels home!
Rori so sad about Anthony Bourdain. We never know what's in another's heart.
