Wow, such great NSV’s today!!! Thrilled for all of you
I had a tiny one today. Had to buy a dress that fit for my aunt’s funeral this week. I’ve gone from a size 12 to a 4 so I didn’t have anything appropriate to wear. I found a dress I liked and needed hose to wear with it. The sales lady was showing me different things and at one point said—these have a control top **which you don’t need**.24 -
Just returning to active logging after an injury and shoulder surgery 8 weeks ago. Got permission form MD to begin exercise but restricted to recumbent bike or elliptical and prior I was doing cross fit and lifting heavy weights.
I went a bit off track with eating while in recovery while trying to make things easier for my husband to manage all the cooking. I gained about 15 pounds and I am not happy.
My NSVs are: I am back on track and logging food ....all of it
The next was a surprise to me as I tend to be strict with eating but it doesn't bother me if I am a bit over calories a couple of days a week as long as the majority of my days are good. I only mean like anywhere close to 100 over my calories for the day....this really only happens on non exercise days
Oh well, Just feels good to be back on track and do what I can for exercise
Nan
Glad you're back, Nan. You'll be dropping those pounds in no time!

I walked 2.2 miles to go see my sister. She was definitely surprised not to see my car.
When she offered to take me back in her car, I declined. I actually walked back!!!47 -
Yesterday I was standing in front of a flight of stairs with my 10-year old niece waiting for someone. I started challenging her to sprint up. I am 41 and obese! We did it a few times and I wasn't even sweating or out of breath. Fun
I resumed exercising last month after a long hiatus and it's great to be able to play like that28 -

I thought....that's a pretty impressive derriere...who's that?
Yep...twas I!
My backside is the bane of my life, whether in my current shape or when I was obese. Felt like it was back there secretly snacking no matter what....hard to believe the one in the photo belongs to me!
Haha, I know right?? I'm convinced it's developed a conscious brain & sneaks all sorts of goodies! What other explanation could there possibly be for 2 clothing size differences between top half & bottom half? I'm in control of the top half but the derriere simply isn't upholding it's end of the bargain
I have the opposite problem - no hips/bum and too much top. They are now on the run but it has taken forever for dresses to fit! 🤣🤣
Haha! Ahh, it's so strange how all of our bodies are so different!
I've got through the grief of my boobs going down 2 cup sizes....I'm quite grateful as it means I can get smaller dresses that look good on top & hide the snacking derriere rather well. (Love me an A-line!)
Feel your pain so much though because with certain cuts, bottom half looks great but top half is too baggy & makes me look larger than I am. Fashion is the enemy, for sure!
Ahhh, you'll be beautiful no matter what shaped fruit you are haha!
I'm definitely a pear (even when morbidly obese)but for some reason folk see hourglass a lot....
Always makes me want to drop to my knees dramatically & yell into the sky "NOT WITH THESE BOOBS!"
🤣
Thanks for such a lovely compliment. You're a peach!
I have a theory that people seem to think that big boobs are associated with vivaciousness. My big boobs seem to make me come off as more vivacious than I really am, and maybe your vivaciousness makes you seem more busty than your bra size would indicate?
Haha! Love looking at other lassies...theyre so beautiful & pretty, no matter
the shape. That sounds quite creepy typed out now I read it, but it's true! Peach....funny how that's the apparent beauty standard for the derriere...we should replace apple with peach, it's way cuter...just like the "apple" folk!
Well! That's something to consider....funny how assumptions can be made over something we have little control over (except surgery)....
I've been described as an animated(very recently too) talker so I've no idea if that counts....tbh it just made me want to stuff my hands in my pockets forever more 😂🙈. Apparently it "just means you're creative though!" I'm not particularly .... another assumption? Haha
Although people tell me that I an animated speaker, too; and my parents strongly disagree with that characterization of my genetic heritage.
(*I hereby offer my blanket apology to all actual Italians for perpetuating the stereotype.)
(And also for some of the things I do with pasta.)
In more derriere- related news, tonight I took my jeans off without unfastening them.
Haha! How funny...I'm half Spanish...perhaps there's something in it after all? 😂
Well done on your NSV...love it when that happens but I hope you will treat yourself to a new smaller size to show the shrinking derriere off! ❤️
In my case, though, I'm the type of melting-pot American whose pot mostly melted forebears from dour and stoic places like Germany and Britain (no one ever has any fun in Britain, right? ). I can only presume the reason my ancestors left Western Europe was that they were all thrown out for speaking too animatedly.
(Mandatory disclaimer: the above is a joke. I know that the countries named are not universally dour and stoic, and people have fun in Britain all the time (I mean, just look at the House of Commons). Also, AFAIK, no one has ever thrown out of Western Europe for speaking too animatedly (I mean, just look at the House of Commons).)
NSV-wise, I have a pair of size-smaller jeans "left over" from before I gained the weight, which I haven't had the guts to try on yet (ironically, what I'm afraid of is that I'll still have too many "guts").
But also "left over" were the khakis that starred in today's NSV: they're ostensibly the same size as the jeans that no longer have to be unzipped, but I couldn't even begin to close the fly on them when I started losing weight. But I wore them today, and they were wonderfully comfortable.

The most amazing compliment from my dermatologist doing my yearly "mole patrol" (skin exam; he has removed several precancerous moles over the years). He told me that I had the perfect arms and shoulders for an anatomy text book; you can see them all individually but they aren't over sized like a body builder.33

For me, I am drinking more water. I know that may not seem like much, but I think it's a rather good step.26

Hitting the benchmark in our Fitness Games at work: As many rounds of 15 pushups (easy), 20 burpees (God awful) and one lap (tenth of a mile) as you can in 15 minutes. I got three, which is the benchmark in my age division (40-49), in 13 minutes and said that was enough. I was sore for three days. But, hey, got a T-shirt and lead the yearlong competition in my division, which is five events.34 -
I fit 3x shirts again... i tried on a shirt from the back of my closet and it fit...Still a long way to go but it nice to see the progress. when i started i was in 5x and some tight 4x. Happy Monday everyone!38

My feet are back to being the 8/8.5 I know - I guess they didn't "grow" with pregnancy, they grew from weight gain like the rest of me!23

i just finished 30 days of yoga with Adriene (on Youtube). Best yoga I've ever did. It was very hard sometimes, but I loved it. She is so positive in her attitude and so funny, I just feel great after all her videos.
I just started yoga camp with Adriene. It's great too.28 -
My NSV today was that I actually did a progression photo timeline of myself. I hate pictures. It wasn't pretty. I may have ugly cried BUT....I have seen some great improvements! I still have a long way to go but man...there is such a difference.

Cleaned out my closet and found more treasures that I have never even worn !23

@allmannerofthings and @Evelyn_Gorfram - Thank you very much. I still have about 67 more pounds to lose to be at the high end of the normal range for my height but I was so excited that I just had to post this! Appreciate the encouragement as well.21

My stretched out fat jeans are getting too loose!!!
Edited to add...
Also, my knee chub no longer rubs together making a swooshing sound when I walk lol! Thighs on the other hand are still BFFs!21 -
My best friend and I were at the dollar store yesterday, picking up random things for a baby shower she is throwing. As we are leaving, she is backing up her car, and this guy (who happens to be African American) is being kind of weird behind us, so she just backs up slowly and he awkwardly stands there. As she starts to pull forward, he flags us down and walks up to the passenger side (my side) of the car and I roll down the window.
At this point, I thought he was going to yell or something because, I'm going to be honest, my best friend backed her car out of that parking spot like a complete moron. But, he looks at me, and says "You don't know me, but I just gotta tell you, you got a fine booty". And then he just walks away. My best friend ALMOST DIED laughing and couldn't get over the fact that he just flagged down our car to tell me that my white girl booty was fine.
I couldn't even believe it was real life and I've never had a weirder (but flattering?) encounter... and now my best friend will never let me live that down.34 -

That's funny! You may have to change your profile name from miss_boof to miss_booty!4 -

Today, I did the longest bike ride I've ever done.
62.51 miles.
Lots of hills. Lots of steep hills. Some fast downhills.
A lot of fun (well, for me)
I WILL do that 100 mile bike ride.
The only reason I didn't do it today was that I had to be somewhere this afternoon.
Maybe tomorrow . . .

Hey y'all, great work!! Reading these is so motivating!
@Evelyn_Gorfram you're cracking me up
As "gen Z" as this sounds...I started therapy!! Like, real therapy! I have been in and out of an eating disorder for many years but always denied denied denied. But something in me just snapped a few weeks ago so I headed to my doctor who set me on the path to gettin' straightened out. I was so, like, ashamed???? It's so dumb to me now that I was ashamed for needing help but I am already re-calibrating. I wish I had gone a long time ago. Support groups like this are amazing but wasn't really getting to my root cause. Swallowing my pride was hard but I am so happy already that I want to tell everyone I see that I am getting professional help!
I also brought some really yummy vegetable-based side dishes to a potluck recently and it all got eaten! I was asked for the recipes! It felt good to show people that 'yummy' and 'vegetables' can go together!27 -
Congratulations on deciding to do what is best for you and absolutely no shame at all in getting help when needed.Yummy recipes could be added to the food group here if you wanted. (hint)

Been some time since I posted a NSV. I thought I'd hit a bit of a plateau - losing VERY VERY slowly, like a fifth of a pound per week - since July. Took a look at my food diary and realized that I am not really in a plateau - I'm just not logging/measuring as aggressively as I was when I was losing a steady 1/2 lb per week.
My NSV - getting honest with myself that I wasn't getting the results I want for a reason, but instead of beating myself up about it, I congratulated myself on STILL losing weight during that period. I must have learned something about portion control since the scale was still moving down. Now that I have faced reality, I am tuning up my food weighing/logging, and I expect to be somewhat back on track in the next few weeks.43 -
I ran (jogged) for 31 minutes!! That is definitely the longest duration I have run in my entire life! Not quite at 5k yet as I am quite slow, but almost in touching distance!
Also, five days after shelling out a scary amount of money, someone noticed I got my hair done! A good day all round.33 -
I walked through H & M today and did not feel hugely out of place!27

I couldn't find my jeans for work and had the hubby helping to look for them (we just got back from a road trip and he had done laundry so I figured he had an idea where they were). He said he saw a pair on the kitchen table but that they were our daughter's. I believed him and kept searching. Turns out the jeans are my new smaller size and he thought they were for our petite 16 year old I'm not petite by any means but for him to think they were our teenagers made my day!40
