What I Hate About Watching My Weight/New Lifestyle/Dieting, etc. (A Place to Vent)

I only use MFP and weigh daily, first thing in the morng. It really helps keep me on track. But I do find myself going through this cycle of up and down trying to get back to my old weight from a week back if I ate out even 1 night in a week. This is tough betwen Oct-Dec with the holidays and all the so ial gatherings! I will usually fast for 16 hrs thr day after eating out and drink tons of water etc to get my wt bck to original level.
Is there anythg else I could do to balance the 1 night of eating out0 -

Stop punishing yourself. When you go out try to eat within your calories as you can best guess. Unless you eat 3500 calories above your maintenance you aren't gaining actual weight; you are most likely retaining water, or weighing partially digested food that's still in your system if you ate later in the evening than normal. Sometimes water weight takes a day or two to go away.
Continually punishing yourself leads to giving up.17 -
I hate it when there’s a social gathering and I’m nervously eyeing all the food thinking what can I eat, what to avoid, how much to eat. Then theres the guilt if I have 1 drink or something not so healthy and the fear that the scale will tell the next day and I’ll be working very hard for the next 2-3 days to undo the bad. I have yet to figure out how NOT to put on weight the night after a meal of eating out. I realize its water weight mostly but it still takes 2-3 days to get it back to where it was. What do ppl do to manage this cycle? Pl share what works.
You don't need to work very hard to undo water weight, it just balances itself on its own within a few days. What works for me is to have my social gathering then just continue as if nothing happened. Weighing myself daily for years has desensitized me to fluctuations.11 -
It seems like no matter what's going on some people just have to be Judgey McJudgepants, or hijack a thread with side discussions instead of starting a new thread or sending messages.
That being said,
Cheese. I miss being able to eat as much cheese as I want without worrying about the calories.
The same with nuts. The days of just tossing back handfuls of nuts are over.

Use a weight trending app. It helps calm the emotional impact of the highs and lows.
Happyscale for iOs
Libra for Android
Trendweight (and one other I never remember) on the web.4 -

In addition they always ordered Pizza. Oh I hate eating so much delicious free Pizza. I don’t want to talk about the weight gain during that period.
I'm guilty of doing this for my employees. When we get free food, it's almost always pizza and/or wings. It's because healthy food is expensive to buy for a group
Then just skip it or do it occasioanlly when you can afford it.

So this just popped up for me today...
I hate when you tell someone you're trying to lose weight and they immediately jump on you with their "advice" on what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong and why you should be doing this or that.
I get that they're trying to be helpful I guess? But I wish more people would recognise that different things work for different people. I've found something that is healthy and sustainable that works for me, so just let me get on with it without your judgement jeeeeeez.6 -
My thoughts - I hate that although I'm loving gaining weight and making myself more confident in my appearance, that i have to spend 90% of my life in the kitchen cooking to do so lmao.5

The bag of leftover home made Halloween cookies from the weekend, downstairs in the kitchen, quietly calling me.12

Pretend whatever language they're calling you in, is one that you don't speak?16 -

I usually just say I'm full, but thanks for offering. I think if you say no to someone enough they'll get the hint & stop asking.2 -

My girlfriend gets mad at me.... So if I plan on going anywhere with her I have to make sure I have lots of calories banked LOL4 -
I hate that if i go to a party, they have i case of those little 8oz bottles of water and a kitten load of alcohol and they complain that they spent so much money on the water bc people leave half empty bottles. Meanwhile there are half empty bottles of beer all over the place.2

I really hate logging my food. I’m good at breakfast and lunch, but never seem to get dinner taken care of. Also, if I’m at a party, trying to remember that I had one of this passed hors D’Oervers, two slices of that cheese and 2 crackers... forget it!
In addition, I am gluten intolerant, which is no fun. I’ve switched to GF pasta and pizza, but sadly gluten free does not mean calorie free.
If I cut all grains out of my diet, my weight drops nicely- but I just can’t sustain it. I really don’t want to go through the rest of my life never eating a serving of rice or having a slice of bread! To me, eliminating an entire food group is not sustainable in the long run. The constant vigilance is a drag- and I’m only trying to lose those last 7 pounds!
I do love logging how many calories I’ve burned exercising, though! That’s fun!9 -
Social food anxiety... A friend yesterday said 'you should come and have lunch we'll open a nice bottle of wine.' I immediately start planning how to reduce food intake before and after. Is that what I have to go through for the rest of my life? That's how "naturally" thin people stay thin? Sigh17

I hate watching my co-worker scarf down a whole bag of cashews without a care in the world, whereas I have to carefully count out ten stupid little nuts to put into my oatmeal in the morning.20

By far, the best part of going GF for medical reasons. “Sorry, I can’t — it will literally make me sick.”

And I hate that despite the fact that I was satisfied after lunch, I still went and ate a slice.
And it wasn't that good.
And now I'm hating the fact that I've wasted calories on it.15 -

Yes! The idea of "wasting calories"! It makes me so mad when I get something or order something I don't like or feel like it wasn't worth it, trying to get better with my choices though.

there are moments - just moments when I hate the whole process- getting up early, lifting treadmilling, counting counting. tracking tracking...ugh already.

Right? I tend to do a vague "Oh thanks, but I have food allergies." Nobody wants to ask so I don't have to go into the whole celiac explanation, and nobody pushes because no matter what's offered, nobody's sure if it will make me sick.4 -

At least now you know. If you hadn't had any cake you might have been thinking about cake all day! Silver lining??collectingblues wrote: »

Related: I hate how even though with the gluten free thing I was never one for snacking on "junk food" or eating takeaway all the time because I can't eat most of it, I still managed to get overweight on just too much "healthy" homecooked food and now I don't have that easy step of "quit eating so much junk" that a lot of people can do to shed a few pounds. I see people who start slimming world where pasta and rice are "free food" and then they lose weight when that was what made me overweight in the first place! Sounds stupid when I write it down but I still feel cheated.9 -
I hate that I can't see food as food anymore. It's calories and macros. I miss the days of ignorant bliss!13
