Anyone here suffer from a leaky gut? I was wondering if exercise could make it worse? I am a runner and can't seem to shake the bloat, despite eating perfectly within my calorie range. I do have a severe leaky gut which needs to heal.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Seriously though - if you're worried about gut problems, the best person to ask is your doctor.0

Yes! I do and just created a post about it. Doctors don't believe in leaky gut (at least everyone I've been to doesn't). I have psoriasis. I understand it takes at least a year to heal your gut. I've eliminated a lot of stuff from my diet and added probiotics. check out my post and let me know how everyone is doing healing their gut.

I've asked my internist, my dermatologist, my oncologist, my surgeon, my gynecologist, my dentist, a functional medicine practioner and my psychiatrist....none of them believe in leaky gut. Sick of the steroids and other meds. Looking to heal with a (mostly) plant based diet. :-)18 -

If you have gut issues you should see a gastroenterologist (who will also say leaky gut isn't a thing).12

You go to an alternative health practitioner (nutritionist, naturopath, homeopath, etc), either because you have a hard to diagnose illness or you have trouble losing weight, and they tell you that you have leaky gut syndrome so they can sell you counseling, gadgets, supplements, essential oils, e-books, and/or meal plans.21 -

You ignore the advice of eight medical professionals who tell you it ain't even a thing.13 -

When somebody in the health/fitness field tells you so you buy their services/products.
Fairly common to make up a condition that doesn't exist so they can market sell a product such as muscle adhesions-foam roller, leaky gut-diet plan, or in the old days snake oil-you name it The only thing that can come positive from it is a placebo effect. Usually is a nocebo effect though which can be harmful.5 -

Or just run without foam rolling knowing you'll be just fine.7 -

I'm a GI PA (12 years) and I can say I've never used this diagnosis. And there is no ICD 10 code for it either.17 -

I'm sorry but if this many people who have spent 8+ years of their lives each to be trained in the medical field are telling you that you don't have leaky gut, I'm not sure why you would question it. I understand that you have issues that you are dealing with and you are trying to find the answers. It sounds like trained people are trying to help you. A diagonisis of leaky gut is often only made my holistic practitioners and at that, they are trying to sell you on supplements or other items that will not heal your symptoms. By telling you it takes a year or more to correct, you have to buy their supplements for a year before they say "well, that didn't work let's try this". I hope you find relief for your symptoms but I also hope you listen to your doctors and find out what is truly wrong. Good luck to you.10 -

What do you actually think it does? Other than a placebo effect?5 -
it breaks up my knots, lacrosse balls and tennis balls have been used for years. massage too. same thing

that's nice, my doctors acknowledge that my muscles tighten into "knots"
whatever you'd like to call it.

Or search "Mark Tarnopolsky massage study" if you don't like what I've linked.
Foam rolling is one way a person can massage themselves. Tennis or lacrosse balls are also an option as mentioned.
You are rude and probably need to associate with doctors that are both more well-read and more open-minded.2 -
Oh and “knots” in your muscles are properly called adhesions.2
