@skippygirlsmom I am so glad she is home with you now. I was hoping as I was reading that you pulled her out of the dorm and brought her home. What horrible horrible mess! Ugh!

I can't even express my thoughts right now but they involve a whole string of *kittens.* Now that Skip is well clear of that program I hope you will follow up with the Dean of Students, the RA, whoever the boss of the RA is, and other people at the school, because it doesn't sound to me as though the school did everything they could to help her - at least not at the highest level - if this sort of nonsense is allowed to continue until some future girl does kill herself they will have lawsuits, and surely they don't want that.
Will definitely pray for you and Skippy! Enjoy your rest, you have earned some peace.PastorVincent wrote: »@skippygirlsmom I am so glad she is home with you now. I was hoping as I was reading that you pulled her out of the dorm and brought her home. What horrible horrible mess! Ugh!
What they said.1 -
@skippygirlsmom I am so sorry for both Skip and you. That was one of the most terrifying stories I have heard in a long time. I will be praying for you both.0

As for me, Friday was a scheduled rest day ... just walked the dogs. Yesterday my husband walked the dogs so I didn't even do that!
Today, it felt bitter cold early this morning. We waited until after breakfast and it had warmed up a bit, then went out for 2.51 miles. The first mile or so I continue to take walking breaks, but after that I'm good. We only stopped when the dogs insisted on a potty/sniff break.
November total: 22.43/28 miles

@skippygirlsmom I am so sorry Skip and you are going through all that pain. I have no words of wisdom to help, just a hope and a prayer that things look better for your family soon.1

Oh @skippygirlsmom I have been thinking how we haven’t seen you for a while or had an update on Skip.
That’s not the update I wanted to read and I was terrified scrolling down that things would be worse. I am so so sorry this has gone on. As you say, a tiny part of this is usual freshman stuff, but the rest sounds utterly horrid and the college, particularly the run team should do more.
I’m not the praying type but I am sending good vibes your way, don’t be too hard on Skip - she’s young, she’s gone through many changes of starting school/independence, and all the stoopid things we do at that age. What she needs most is for you to be there for her, which thankfully you are.
Sounds like she will have more opportunities coming her way once it settles down more. So very sorry to hear your update. We are all here for you AND Skip.3 -
@skippygirlsmom I'll keep you and Skip in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there...1

@skippygirlsmom - Once before when there was a SkippyGirl issue with a boy we all offered to come and 'show our support' if necessary. I am sure that offer still stands if we all need to come talk those girls or the Assistant Coach! Seriously, my heart is hurting for you both and can't believe this happened and the Coach and school took no action really to stop it or get Skip out of the environment. I am glad her professors are willing to let her finish up the semester at home with you.So sorry that happened to skip @skippygirlsmom
Glad she's home and away from that toxic situation.

Okay, running 18 miles with a head cold (and then going to work) is not very fun. This is probably very obvious to most of you. However, I vastly underestimated the magnitude of epic suckage - LOL.
Oh well, I (VERY SLOWLY) got it done this morning. I just need two 20 milers in December and it will be time to start tapering for the Miami Marathon. Getting excited!
@skippygirlsmom So sorry that your daughter had to deal with this horrible situation. I hope everything calms down now that she is home.

@skippygirlsmom - I'm so sorry that you and Skip have gone through so much. I have no advice but I've seen lots of students transfer when a school was not the right fit or a bad experience for whatever reason, and do very well in a new environment. I hope for the best for both of you.
@MegaMooseEsq congrats on your 10k PR!

Went to a nice yoga class this morning and then shoe shopping. I brought in my bag of shoes that had done me wrong and begged for help. I ended up with Saucony Omni ISO - I've worn some Saucony models in the past successfully but then started having problems and switched, so I'm hoping this model solves the problems (this one is more of a stability shoe) and is as comfortable as the ones I liked previously. I immediately took them for a test run on the treadmill at the gym and they seemed good.

Nominal November mileage goal: 160 miles
Real Goals: Avoid injury. Run well in the Pete Glavin XC series. Have fun at the Syracuse Half and Race with Grace 10K. Build base toward the start of Boston training.
Today's notes – Yesterday I was thinking 3 to 5 miles today. This afternoon, I go light wind and a temperature of 46º F (8º C). Set out from my driveway to run a familiar, easy 10K route. I overdressed a bit; could have got away with a long sleeve tech shirt and light gloves, also work a wind shell. So I got good and sweaty. I'm also beginning to pay attention to other stuff my body is saying before I get warmed up; this is more of an issue in the winter than the other 3 seasons.
The hamstring didn't complain at all about running, which was as expected. Post-run stretching tells me it's still assymetrical, which means running hard is risky. Have an appointment with the sports doc on Wednesday, I'll ask how I'm supposed to know when it's OK to run harder than MP.
But for now, it looks like I can keep a normal running schedule and volume, as long as I don't do speed work or run races hard. I won't be satisfied with that forever, but it's enough for now.

@skippygirlsmom what a horrible ordeal for you both. Having a semester at home will go a long way to settle things down and help her refocus. I am the praying kind and will remember you both.
I made a trip to the running store yesterday to try on altras and hokas. They didn’t have any altras in my size which I was bummed about but they did have a pair of hoka hoka that I tried. OMG I loved them! I needed a size bigger so they had to be ordered. I’ve run in brooks adrenaline for years but this last pair (which I ordered off the internet) are horrible. I’ve been using them for casual wear and they hurt my feet! There is a spot on the outside of my foot that has developed a very sore callus from rubbing.
Had one of my best runs this morning in awhile. Apparently the secret is to spend 10 hours on my feet the day before, eat a really late dinner the night before, followed by two margaritas, and skip breakfast in the morning. Go figure.
Next race: Sedona - February 3.
Training 14/64 complete.12 -
@skippygirlsmom I am so sorry to hear about her situation. Honestly, I am not surprised. Sports programs seem to run wild at a lot of schools. Look at all the gymnast stuff still coming out of Michigan. It's sad and scary. I wish I could do more to help but sending you and Skip positive thoughts.1
-
Tomorrow is already forecast to be a dry shampoo day....
Don’t judge 🤣😒😖4 -
You all are so sweet, I let Skip read your comments and she cried and said thank you. I'm very proud of how she handled herself when things got tough. She is very down on herself, thinks she's a failure and thinks she failed me. I told her that I was disappointed in some of her choices, but certainly nothing that makes me think of her as a failure. Did she make some poor choices, yes, but don't we all? She's been waiting all day long to start to hear from the team (especially the room mates) about her suddenly being gone, but nothing except one text from one of the guys asking where she went. Well in order to know she's gone he has to either be in her room or talked to someone who is. She's ignoring the text, I have a feeling the assistant Coach, who she hasn't heard a word from, told them not to contact her or say anything on their group chat. Good I like it that way.
She's going running with her old Coach tomorrow and can't wait. She stopped at Fleet Feet today to get back on the schedule and start earning some money. I think the thing that upsets me most is she told me she went to church and met with the Priest and told him for the first time in her life she had hate in her heart for other humans, she didn't like to be that way. He told her to pray on it and know that God has a better bigger plan for her. Her faith is so much stronger than mine.
Again thank you, we both loved the puppy @mbaker566, what a precious face!!!
