@7lenny7 and @PastorVincent thanks, you folks really are awesome!
Soo I just received the 'race guide'. I had some vague idea of attaching myself to a pace group. There are apparently going to be pacers for the HM for target finishing times of 1hr30, 1hr42, 1hr45 or 2h. So yeah, umm, I'll be running alone lol with my conservative expectation of somewhere between 2hr30 and 2hr45. The good news is the sweep wagon will be passing 5k at 42 minutes, 10k at 1hr25 and 20km at 2hr50 so hey I should be good! I wonder if they have a prize for the last one in before the wagon, that sounds like something I could aim for LOL9 -
@eleanorhawkins You got this!! Good luck!1

I think you were confused... you needed one MILE today to reach your goal, not one MARATHON
Great job, these numbers are amazing to me!15 -

I had 19 miles on the schedule but aborted the long run at 8 today. I thought I would feel better after a few easy miles but I just got sicker and slower as the run went on. Then it started raining. I am not about to give myself pneumonia for my stupid running plan.
November goal miles = ? / 163 miles-to-date

1/26/19 = Miami Tropical 5K

This is wisdom - all the newer runners in this thread need to learn this lesson now. It will save you much misery later. Keep to your plan assumes you are healthy enough and conditions allow it.10 -
@eleanorhawkins I ran my first (and so far only) HM in May. I had many of the same thoughts as you the last few weeks before. You will do great so try not to stress too much, but know that those worries are normal. I finished my HM in 2:43:59. That was actually enough to get me 2nd in my age group only 42 seconds behind the 1st in my AG and a good 2 minutes ahead of the 3rd place. I am 50, so I'm old LOL, but my point is there will be plenty of people running in the 2:30 to 2:45 range so don't worry about being last. The last in my HM was pretty close to the 3:30 cut off, but she did make it. And as I recall the last person still gets the same finisher's medal.
@amymoreorless Good call taking care of yourself. Hope you feel better soon!6 -
November 2018
Goal 1: A 30 km run. 27.7 km + 3.8 km walking. I’m calling it done!
Goal 2: 2 blog posts. Done!
Goal 3: No shopping for myself other than food, medical, transport. Spent $2.50 on running scrapbook photo printing.
Goal 4: Handstands/stretching daily. Done!
Goal 5: Draw every day. Done!
This also included three Half Marathon events and parkrun every week. Happy with November!7 -
In Winter I've been wearing these for 3 years.
I put handwarmers in the flip-top bits. You can even get sticky ones.5 -

@PastorVincent Exactly. I don’t know what troll “Woo”ed your post but... good luck to them. I wish MFP would get rid of the insult Woo thing. It’s just a troll-encourager.
I like running and want to keep it that way. I am not in this to “win”. The second it becomes un-fun, I am finding something else to expend my energy on.7 -
@garygse - you are a machine! Do you ever take an actual, completely off, non-running rest day? You and @alphahowls have the most amazing endurance! I just don't know how you do it - casually going out and just running a marathon, and in the middle of the night too!
@eleanorhawkins - I have run a bunch of HMs and I get that way before each.and.every.one! Also you aren't really running 'alone' there will be however many other runners there running along with you. Many I am sure also running their first HM. Chat with some of the runners before the race, at the start line and you may make a friend to run with at least part of the time. I rarely have anyone to go to races with me and have made several race friends that way. Also at a race last year where I was sure I wasn't going to finish because I was getting dizzy and just wanted to sit down on the sidewalk a friend I hadn't seen in years (at least 10) ran by and recognized me. Realized I was struggling and ran with me to the finish! You never know who you might 'find' along the course! Most important is to go and enjoy the atmosphere and have FUN!

Goal for November is 104.5M following my training plan= GOAL REACHED with 105.8 miles logged.
But I've been deal with a sore right hip the past few days- it's like right on the outside of the pelvic bone. Normally I can massage out my little aches and pains, but I can't fix this one- nor could my massage therapist during my last appointment. Now I'm curious if it's something called bursitis- going to ice it tonight and see if that helps. It was troublesome yesterday as well so it forced me to change my gait a bit and now my calf is sore as a result but that actually is getting better as the day goes on. Looking forward to tomorrow's rest day.
Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic November.9 -

@eleanorhawkins Most races don't have such a prize, but it happens often enough that there's a term for it: DFL Prize. On the local Fleet Feet FB group, someone suggested a DFL Prize for the Donut Mile (4 x eat a donut, run a quarter mile, on January 1). The organizer said he'd consider adding one. I won't be there to watch; I'll be running a 7.5 mile race on the other side of town at that time.3 -

Last day of the month, rest day, and I made my final November run report yesterday. Today I got an email from BAA; they processed my submission of Wineglass to improve my qualifying time. That means I'll likely be seeded early to mid Wave 2; my Boston 2018 result would have me borderline late Wave 2 or early Wave 3.
I will be shocked if I'm seeded into Wave 1. I think I would need a qualifying time 3 to 5 minutes faster than what I ran at Wineglass to achieve that.8 -

Finishing up the month with one last treadmill run. I should have run .5 more to make it an even 80! I don't remember if I set a numeric goal in this thread, my goal was really to just take a break after my marathon and then ease back into running and not quit. I think I've accomplished that. The first half of the month I was unsure and did not really feel up to getting back to it. The last 14 days though I've run every day, even if some were only 15 minutes. I'll call it a success.
I'll try to catch up on you all later. Off to my work holiday party tonight. See you in the December thread!

Smashed my goal for this month! YAY. I literally only went out today to do the 3/4 mile to hit my goal but I went a little further just cuz.

11/30: 2.1 miles
Cumulative for November: 51.3/50 miles7 -
Woof, long but good day that isn’t over yet, but no running. My goal for the month was 75 and I came in a little under 50. And do you know what? I ran (almost) fifty *kitten* miles this month! In a month when I bought a house, one of my dogs died, and my mom spent five days in the hospital with a newly diagnosed heart condition. Also, I ran in snow and sub-freezing temperatures most of the month. I call that a win. See you all in December!9
-
11/1 - 2.30 km
11/2 - rest
11/3 - 5.43 km officially, but forgot to start watch
11/4 - rest
11/5 - rest
11/6 - 3.73 km
11/27 - 1.29 km
11/30 - 2.09 km
14.74/???
Real goal: stop with the walk intervals, start rebuilding base without reinjuring me.
Better run tonight. A bit longer. Feet feel okay immediately post-run. We will see how I am tomorrow. I feel like cardio was the limiting factor tonight so I'll try to manage my pace and slow down a bit the next time I run - in December.

Just skimmed over about 150 posts. Sounds like most of you did great this month. Congratulations to those who met you goal and had fantastic races and got new shoes, etc. I loved the Christmas running outfits!
I have failed miserably in November. Haven't really run, or did anything much, since the middle of the month...unless you count weight lifting 10 - 12 toddlers for 8 hours. At least it feels like that is what I have done at the end of some days. LOL I am trying to decide if I should sign up for the 5 mile race I had planned to do the middle of December. I have until Dec 6 to sign up before the price goes up.4 -
12.1 miles today to finish out the month...4

I was struggling finding the motivation to run outside after being so cold at the Turkey Trot, so after getting nowhere I resumed running on the treadmill this week. Maybe I’ll get in some nice weekend runs this winter outside, but I know that I’ll be much more consistent if I plan my weeknight runs for the gym. I’m happy to report that I was able to get in 4/5 runs this week. While they were all treadmill runs they were miles.
I’m not sure yet what my goal will be for Dec. I do not have any races on the docket so lots of flexibility. Great job to those that made their goal or were happy with their outcome. I did not make my goal, but I’m in the right mindset headed into Dec so I’ll take it.

Finished November with 132.3 km. Which is not the 150km goal I had set. But I know exactly which runs are missing (in that week from 12th November where I spent 14h per day at work and only went for one super short run). December should be better! And hopefully less rainy too
Nothing wrong with running in the rain, but I also wouldn't mind some sunshine a little more often ^^4 -
Well my dues fell short of the hundred mile club this month.
No excuses just missed those miles on the trail.
