What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?
Replies

mine is probably that my partner's sis is always saying about how she's going to lose weight and going on fad diets and things so like... kinda to show her up? haha5
-
I dont know if it qualifies as petty, but Im tired of my belt line being below my great fat belly.10

Spite.......Pure spite keeps me going, as in "I'll show him" Or "sorry not sorry.".............
Also, I was with a friend and she was driving and this man kept staring at us. She said "What are you looking at ME for, you have a woman." What, I am too fat......Little things like this happen more often than they should. I'm good, I got this;-)10 -
My reason is super petty. I'm trying to do a slow weight loss because I don't want to feel deprived and hungry every day. Also doing the amount of calories my doc recommended. I started at the end of August. I have a friend who started in October, she's already lost more than me. Now I'm like, all petty because I want to keep up with her. I won't eat less calories, but I don't want to be way behind her. I'm so horrible lol.5

Back in my old clothes. Plus I prefer being the skinnier one and now I am not. Those are my petty reasons.5

Reading some of these and I'm thinking... yep, me too (mom who would put me down for my size). yes to that (desire to be sexy). oh I want to do that too (shop in the 'normal' sizes and not the plus size).
But the petty reason for me, I just want to cross my legs like a blessed lady! Seriously.10 -
Deeep seeded need to transfer massive amounts of my money to Calvin Klein, Carolina Herrera and Jason Wu.15

Because I’ve only just realised at 40, that I’m friggin important!!!!! I come first. I deserve to to look and feel good18
-
Besides wanting to look great for my partner and me.....
I love buying shoes in every colour and you cant wear them with jeans and leggings. #fashionistas #jokeisonme :-P4 -
I love these. Very inspiring!
My petty reason is I don't want to be the only fat person in my group of friends. I'm not ugly but I'm currently a size 24 and the biggest next to be is a size 10-12. Plus I'm several inches taller than all of them. So I look like a giant in comparison.
They never look at me in a bad way and I love all of them for it. But when all of your friends look like models (not even joking they all look extremely beautiful) it would be nice to fit in a little more physically.13 -
I like cute clothes and being able to wear what I like and looking great. I miss that feeling! I haven’t felt that way in years.8

I want to be a MILF. I want to look hotter than every single ex my husband has ever had. He chose me for a reason but I don’t want it to be just cause I’m better person on the inside. It must be cause I’m hot as hell too. Also, My career needs me to be hot as an advantage and I can’t jump back into my career fully yet, but I have to get ready for it so that when I’m ready to go back into the workforce I’m READY to hit the ground running.9

Fell out of love with my body permitting people, places and things to emotionally affect my health and eating . It took it's toll in many ways. I am taking control again. I fixed this once before and I know what to do. I what that FABULOUS feeling again and a reason to pass a mirro and smile.8

I don’t want to be the invisible mom. I don’t want to embarrass my husband when I stop by his work to see him (he never says I do but I feel embarrassed). At 41 years old & really overweight I’m not even aiming for “hot wife” I just don’t want to be “ugly wife”.
I also want to be able to save $ by shopping at stores other than plus size. Petty petty but it’s what keeps me going.23 -
I want to be the wife that at 45 can do a boudoir shoot and feel completely confident in my body.6
-
Mine is to be accepted by people...14
-
If we're being petty, it'd be that I want to make anyone that doubted me eat their words. From my sister, to bullies, to ex-friends...6
-
I miss wearing shorts, I miss high waisted pants and crop tops in the summer, and sadly I miss feeling like the cutest girl in the gym. High key egotistical.7
-
DUFF... Always been the designated ugly fat friend... I'd like to be like a reasonably obtainable MILF lmfao8
-
I hope its okay to do more than one reason lol
I would love love love to walk past a mirror and check myself out because im so thin7 -
I suppose this counts, though it's less about appearance (and others' impression of my appearance).
One reason I'm losing weight is because I'm starting a family and need a bigger term life policy--which is really ****** expensive if you're overweight. I'm not made of money, but I have to make sure my wife/kid is OK if I croak.16 -

I would count this as less a petty reason than a sensible and pragmatic one, but well done either way.
ETA: In case this is interpreted wrong, I didn't mean to say 'Get out, you're in the wrong thread', I meant to say I support your reasoning and don't think you should underplay it by calling it petty.10 -

Your not ugly! I dont like the word duff. I don't think it really captures who we are and put a very untrue label on people.5 -
Appreciated. But to clarify: I should emphasize it's the money that's keeping me from doing this. Deep down I know I should probably pay whatever necessary, because life insurance is that important. If the unthinkable happens, my family will be less-well-off because I didn't want to pay a few extra bucks.I suppose this counts, though it's less about appearance (and others' impression of my appearance).

I get it, but think of it this way: the unthinkable is that much less likely to occur if your body is in good working order. That's certainly the way your insurance company sees it, right?5 -
Agreed.
I was going to try to muck everything up my inquiring what brands a particular reason for losing weight as 'petty', but that sounds a 99-cent, poorly-edited ebook on Amazon.
(But hey, if anyone's looking for an idea for a 99-cent, poorly-edited ebook to write for Amazon, you're welcome.)
EDIT: (SIDE-NOTE) This wouldn't be the first time someone's turned message board content into a terrible Amazon ebook.2 -

i wanna get back the body i used to have when people i met in the ahops would ask me ( i was in yoga tights & top) "do you do a lot of exercise to be able to look so fit ?"5

I just want to look hot, even though it's very narcisistic and not very like me. I want to feel and look hot, not to care about my body.
HA ! As if body confidence only came with weight loss ... I lost almost 8 kilos and still struggling to see the difference in the miror8 -

Body confidence doesn't only come with weight loss -- but it often helps.4
