I'm 37, female, from USA. Going to meet my long distance beau of a few months (though we've been talking for a year this month) in January, so very motivated. We're both out of shape/ overweight and both working on it, so this is more about fitness than weight drops. We're hoping for a Jan. 4-6 weekend, so I can do four rounds!
Going for 1 hr cardio per day and 1400-1500 cals.

Did badly the past few, Thanksgiving leftovers, but stayed active. But I did some meal prep this evening so things should be doing better soon!
Confirmed travel plans with the boyfriend today, so that felt good regardless.
Just wanting to do a check-in. Got my hour of cardio today, but it was really hard. I like this thread and hope everyone's doing well, or just coming back to say hi, and stuff. You know, years ago when I had my most success at lowering my weight, I was on Calorie Count. But over the years they changed how their community features worked, and the support was gone. Only the most popular people really got any feedback, and it left you feeling alone. I actually attribute this to their eventual failure as a site. So I hope to be staying in these ten-day challenges for a sense of being part of a group. There may be days where I don't even log calories, but I'll always come here, I think.

I'm formally announcing that I won't be taking my weight every single day. I feel like the first, fifth, and tenth day are enough for me. Change isn't overnight and watching little fluctuations feels unneccessary. Right now, I don't think my weight has changed any, but I'm wearing jeans that I haven't put on for a couple of weeks, and they are distinctly, noticeably looser.
I am also doing keto. (Low carb diet was recommended to me by a doctor, and I've put it off long enough.) I'm not counting calories for the next two days, just getting through those first-three-days-to-a-week carb cravings the best way I can. Not gonna beat myself up over the meat and cheese calories as long as I can get that glucose burned off. A short term sacrifice for long term results. Then I will resume calorie logging/ restriction. Last time I did keto for a couple of weeks, the appetite reduction was great. I know I'll have no issue restricting calories too, once I'm burning fat instead of carbs.
Hope everyone else is doing well!
Only weighing on days 1, 5, and 10.

Glad today to see a couple of pounds have come off. I only made it through half an hour of cardio today, due to interruptions from roommates and family, but that half hour was the full first section of Jillian Michael's extreme shed and shred. It's a beast of a workout if you're out of shape, and I am. (But not too much longer, I'm sure, if I keep doing it.) After an interruption at the end of the video, I was geared down again, heart rate had dropped, and couldn't talk myself back into doing more, even if it was easier. I think my body was like, YES, NOW WE CAN REST HOORAY! I'm sure everyone here knows what I mean.
Keto is going well. I've been wanting sweets, of course, but curbed it tonight with a good deal of cucumber and olive oil, and some cheese and salami. In spite of not restricting calories- again, just doing whatever it takes to get through the carb cravings the first few days- I'm actually eating less than 2000 calories. I didn't log or weigh to as great a degree as when I'm doing strict calorie counting, but I've done enough of that, that my estimate for today was about 1800. I'll round up and say it was 2000, which is REALLY good when I've done 30 minutes of intense cardio. I made a fathead pizza this morning and didn't feel the need to eat again until dinner. This is good. This is the kinda thing I need. I don't have keto odors yet, though, so gotta keep trying for under 20 carbs. Had around 25 today. Perfectly okay with me.
I feel good! Everyone else, I hope you all feel good, too.
I went today, downtown, to the hotel me and boyfriend will be staying. I wanted to check out the inside, because he'll be getting in at 11, and checkin time is 3. They said they could do an early check-in, but I wanted to double check that we'd be comfortable if they screwed that up, or if there's a wait for housekeeping.
We wanted to go to this park, and it's about a mile from the hotel. I wasn't sure if that was "leisurely" distance for my out of shape butt, especially not knowing if there were hills and stuff, so I went and walked it. It was fine! By January, this walk will be no sweat for me, because it was almost no sweat today. Might still be ideal to hop on a bus or a trolly if they get those running by Jan (they're new here), to save energy for the park itself. I'm actually more concerned for the boyfriend, who has planar faciitis. It makes his feet hurt. (I have sciatica, but I know how to keep it behaving most of the time. I've only had a couple of major flares in the past ten years, everything else is very minor. It certainly contributes to fitness issues in both cases, but we're both doing exercise that has good deals of boxing. Yay solutions!)
So checking the meandering route I took- I checked out some side venues for dinner and stuff- walked about two miles today. I feel okay with this, because my legs were screaming bloody murder this morning from extreme shed and shred, and I don't think I could have done another round anyway. Still got plenty of activity without doing anything murderous.
Keto's still all good. Today, I made some "man dip", sausage, cream cheese, cheddar, peppers, lots of cayenne and paprika and garlic. Hoping to eat it on some cucumber slices. And another fathead pizza at breakfast. I'm letting the dip sit so the spices can blend. Had a little corned beef tonight, but only wanted about half of it (roughly 300 calories). So today's total is about 1700. I might have another tea with cream and that'll be 1800. Still REALLY surprised that eating so much fat actually works. I've never been brave enough before to do it right. Used to eat too much protein and too many complex carbs, too. Which caused me to take a long time to get into ketosis when I've tried to do keto before, and also ruined my efforts, because I'd end up eating just a little too many carbs, and then boom, carb cravings are back. This isn't my forever diet. But it is going to make it much easier to maintain a calorie deficit. I may just stick with it until I'm out of overweight BMI range, then move back to a more moderate fat diet.
Only weighing on days 1, 5, and 10.

Today was an okay day. Didn't do cardio, there was no time, sadly. But I was so sore this morning, that's probably for the best. Muscles need to recuperate to get stronger, yeah?
I ate keto food, too. Still don't have the keto smells, so I'm going to have to continue with not calorie restricting. As long as there's basically no appreciable carbs and lots of fat, I'm gonna eat whatever.

Day/Weight/Comment
11/24: 294.6: (5:55 AM) Night Shift, feeling good about today, quite positive. (Hopefully this last.) I'll update before I go to sleep. (After Work) I slept like a baby for six to seven hours. We (My boyfriend and me.) did a few errands. He could tell something was up, as soon as I asked for Diet Pepsi. (Since, I wanted something other then Water.) He then asked about supper and suggested something healthy! We then walked 1.6 miles before I went for my last night shift. (I'll weigh myself for 11/25 when I get off work.) I hit a snag for a brief moment. I wasn't expecting to deal with a stress issue's today with court. (Trying to send a bad man to prison.) Anyways, it instantly made me want to make cookies. I stopped myself! I was 171 calories over. I burned 160 calories. (-11)
11/25: 293.0: Night Shift, went good, didn't feel like I put all my effort in my job. I slept for five hours and then I was deep cleaning our apartment. Doing laundry until 10:00 PM. With the deep cleaning and running around doing errands, I felt like I did my own little workout. Especially, running on little to no sleep. We went to bed at midnight. (+465) Burned (634)
11/26: 292.6: DAY OFF! John told me to relax. John had to get up for work at 4:30 AM. I got up around 6:00 AM. By the time he got home, I pretty much did everything I needed to do on my check list. (Which, hasn't happened in quite awhile. At least, since I had my severe depression.) My weight I think is low, only because, I hadn't ate that much from work and I didn't eat anything at home, due to lower paycheck. HOWEVER, I had a rock bottom moment. (Not Depression.) I believe stress just caught up with me, from the last few days. (The next day, I felt fine.) (+525) Burned (668)
11/27: 293.9: You must be wondering, what happen to the walking? Ha, snow storm. That's Kansas for you. Anyways, been doing good. Still keeping track of my food. Work went well. I did better then expect. Today, is my cook day and I sample everything and then eat everything. However, I didn't this time. (I did know that my Mom was gonna take me out to eat later.) I left to help my Mom with her exchanging for her new car. Afterwards we shopped. (Costco, sad moment. Screw his family.) When we got back to our town, we ate Sonic. (I know, not smart but, boy was it good. Lol, worth the calories? HELL TO THE NO!) Worst day with my calories. (-753) Burned (267)
11/28: 293.8: Another good day at work. I felt a little sluggish but, it went away after awhile. Nothing exciting about today. Really, lay back day and cleaning here and there. John came home from work and bought us Taco Bell with his leftover money. (We are excited for pay day.) (-124) Burned (267)
11/29: 293.4: Work went by quickly and I went strong with my work, today! I left early to go home and start working on wrapping presents and cleaning the apartment up. When John got home, we bought Burger King. We splurged and went all the way with our meals. Money and Calories. We had a lovely date night. At the end of the night we talked about being better with our budget. (The next day we bought sandwich material, chips, and canned goods.) (-358) Burned (267)
11/30: 292.6: I slept in, until noon. It was amazing! I took care of our fur babies and cleaned up the apartment. (Not much to do because, I've been keeping it up.) I watched Christmas Movies and played Spyro. (If I had to describe my perfect day off, it would be this.) However, it's been a week. John and me, have only walked one day. I hope to change that and slowly start walking more. (According to weather.) When John got off work, we ate sandwich's and slept more. (Since, I have a night shift, tonight.) (+160) Burned (0)

11/24 - 62.6 kg (138.0 lbs.). +800g from yesterday. Eat my favorite Italian salami. Did my strength training in the morning. Back on the track!

11/27 - 62.0 kg (136.7 lbs.). Somebody should eat less! “Six-pack in 6 weeks” in the morning.
11/28 – Didn’t weigh today. Frustration from trying to find what to wear for the company’s annual dinner on Friday was TOO BIG. I never thought that the feeling when the clothes are just hanging on you can be comparable with too tight fit. In everyday life I wear normally pullovers and jeans so the difference is not so obvious. Yesterday I tried the skirts and pants and jackets and all these looked so miserable… I think I should reconsider my strategy, meaning stabilize my weight in the range from 60 to 62 kg and concentrate on muscle building. I don’t think I have fat to lose anymore. I also have to find the way to increase my calories somehow, although 1200 is enough for me. I mean “good” and not empty calories.
11/29 - 61.5 kg (135.6 lbs.). Ordered yesterday 3 dresses with express delivery for today. Hope at least one will fit. Had a wonderful 7km run today in the morning.
11/30 - 61.3 kg (135.1 lbs.).

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Day/Weight/Comment
11/24 - 177.4 - Ate nothing unusual, only 22 calories over, drank plenty of water. Just a normal fluctuation.
11/25 - 178.4 - Over calories by 300 from eating keto seed porridge. Still no unusual foods, except for a pumpernickel dinner roll. Plenty of water and enough sleep.
11/26 - 178 - I need salt and potassium. Last night during my fasting hours, I ate 250 calories worth of salty, spicy peanuts ? Could have saved calories just drinking my electrolytes. I don't know why I have been having an aversion to drinking electrolytes.
11/27 - 178.8 - High carbs yesterday, late dinner, no electrolytes ?
11/28 - 174.8 - Skeptical, weighed 3 times though. I'm pretty sure its because of the electrolytes I finally drank.
11/29 - 177.4 - I knew my weight had to settle but not to this 177 again ? Lol My body's water balance is so finicky.
11/30 - 178.2 - Pretzels. Problem solving eating. Didn't need salt. I was good and drank my electrolytes. Guess it all boils down to stress though. BUT, this IS becoming laughable. My knee compression sleeve came yesterday. Yaay! So I did about 20 semi sumo squats to test it out. My knee said no way, but I say 20 is my limit.
12/1 - 178.8 - Even though I threatened myself, lol, pretzels, ate them. Up all night, working on and problem solving a project. Why do the two hour projects turn into 30 hour projects? 2.5 hours sleep, still need to finish it for a birthday party today. Tomorrow, I may be going to see my littles, so the carbs will not be any better.

am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.
I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after. On the other hand when I look at the big picture and the averages it has been a consistent loss except for two rounds. Round 53 was my 50 birthday celebrations that upped my weight for a few days.
I need to step up my game if I want to meet any of my goals.

11/25 - 174-I almost didn’t weigh yesterday because I knew I was still suffering the repercussions of Thanksgiving. I am back on track.
11/26 -175-I ate 2 slices of unfriendly bread yesterday and had salty dinner. Heading to my uncles we’ll eat dinner out.
11/27 - No Scale
11/28 - 173 - I haven’t had time to exercise because I work so much around the house getting it ready to sell, lots of yard work too. I have been eating good and it’s paying off.
11/29 - 173 - Same, I wish I could lose a pound a day, but that’s not the case; I’ll take it.
11/30 - Didn’t weigh; I made unwise food choices yesterday and feel bloated. I get to go make sausage with my dad today.
12/1 - 175-Dang it! Not the right food and I’m paying for it. I need to mix in some exercise. Tonight we go to dinner/drinks out with friends, hopefully I can contain myself 😳
Have a wonderful weekend ......😊

I know this little bump up is residue from excess calories on TG, so I'm watching but not panicking. MFP says my maintenance calories without exercise are 1380, and SailRabbit calculates it as 1318. Since I've lost so much, I'm guessing it's at the lower end, so trying to aim for 1250-1350. We shall see.

This is my fifth week of adding foods back into my diet after 6 weeks of eliminating them. This week I've added dairy (after eggs, tomatoes, peppers, & gluten the past 4 weeks). So far, I've had no reactions at all, so apparently my inflammation levels aren't related to those foods. Three weeks to go, adding soy, corn, and peanuts. I'm not sorry I did this, but I'll be glad when it's over.

Eeek! But it's mostly water. I had a bunch of salty snacks last night at a gathering. I plan to drink lots of water today, and watch what I eat the next few days.

11/24—DNW—Just got back home. Very early flight in from Ohio. I haven't weight for three days and I'm sure it's not pretty. It wasn't pie that got me. I was very reasonable with the pie. But I was very UNreasonable with dip. Worth it though. (That's easy for me to say when I haven't weighed in!) 5 pounds of gain wouldn't shock me, because I was eating so differently and that makes me gain water weight quickly.
11/25—219—Well, that's not great, but it was 3 pounds rather than 5. Winning!
11/26—218.6—The slow recovery commences. I didn't really eat great yesterday, but it was an improvement over the previous three days!
11/27—218—This was an early weigh-in, so I'm pleased. I was starting a workout last night and I came down wrong on my right foot. Severe pain that lasted just a short while. Today I seem fine, but now I'm a little spooked.
11/28—218—My right ankle/foot seems to be fine. I wonder what that was? Yesterday I had meetings all day and came home exhausted. Today I woke up with a stuffy head. I don't know whether I was so tired because I'm coming down with something or if it was those darned meetings!
11/29—218.2—I had a GREAT workout last night. I continue to push forward with my goal of completing the pushups challenge and yesterday I finally made some progress. TOM is creeping up on me so I'm retaining water. Boo!
11/30—217—I'm surprised this number went down. I had a salt-fest yesterday, though my calories weren't too bad. I also realized at about 5 o'clock that I had actually not had ANYTHING to drink all day! All day! I did a good job making up for it, but that's nuts!
12/1—216.6—Another surprising loss. I had movie theater popcorn last night. I expect a lot of exercise today.

Exercise Goals:
Walk at least an hour 3 days a week, 4 days if nothing better is available.
Weight training 1 day a week
Walk 45 miles in November (Nov 30th - 50.7 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Day/Weight/Comment:
11/24 - 187.8 Down is always the right direction. Got over three miles in yesterday and stayed within calorie goals even with a half a piece of pecan pie! Thankfully the leftovers are all gone. I'm just happy to have made it through Thanksgiving without a gain. I have decided if the weather holds out I am going to try to get 50 miles in before the end of the month.
11/25 - 187.3 It ain't much but I'll take it, happily. I did not end up walking yesterday. I went to a funeral (step grandfather I didn't know well but needed to go for my step Mom who I love) and the chatting after lasted too long to get a walk in before dark. I have three hours before the snow starts, I am trying to talk myself into walking before the storm, but it's cold... Whining doesn't make me healthier just fatter. Ok I'm going dang you guys are tough on a girl!
11/26 - 187.8 I'm sure this is due to a high sodium day yesterday. I did get my three miles in though, finished just as the rain that turned into ice that turned into snow started. It was actually a great walk after the first half mile of freezing. I didn't see another person or even animal on the trail. Usually I see or hear squirrels off in the woods - not yesterday.
11/27 - 186.4 Woohoo goodbye retained water!!! The only exercise I got yesterday was snow-shoveling the driveway. I turned on the MapMyFitness app. It said I burned 371 calories in 25 minutes. I know that's not right though I did work up a sweat. Tonight is gym night and I even remembered my clothes so I don't have to go home first. Of course I did forget my breakfast and lunch I was bringing to work... Meal planning is great and everything IF you remember to bring it with you.
11/28 - 186.7 Nothing but a blip! Yesterday's drop was a little dramatic so I think this is more of a true-up. Half way thru this challenge already, it goes so quickly. I did a short walk yesterday trying to get to 45 miles but I had misremembered how far I needed and am still a little more than half a mile away. BUT since I still have three days and need to exercise, I'm going for 50. These self imposed goals encourage me when I'm thinking I'd rather not go out in the cold to walk. I still did weights after walking but not as much because I got overheated walking and one of the fun symptoms of MS is when you get hot you get weaker. Not an ideal time to lift weights. I couldn't do the same weights I normally do so I did slightly lower ones for fewer reps, but still feel pretty good about it. MS can suck it!
11/29 - 188.5 I got in a three mile walk and stayed within calories but somehow I'm up. As we always do I assume it's the sodium from yesterday. I won't lie it's a kick in the guts when you see a number that's 2 pounds more than yesterday and you know you've done everything right. It's the problem with weighing daily. I'm also not feeling well. Another frickin' cold, my head hurts, I'm sneezing like a fool but thankful for Dayquil. Good news tomorrow is another day, all we can do is trust the process. I'm less than 3 miles from getting 50 for November.
11/30 - 187.1 Sodium is the devil. I'm hopeful for 186.X by the end of the round. I am super excited because I got 50 miles in November! My cold is still here, which means I cannot see my immune suppressed boyfriend this weekend but I'm going to celebrate hitting 50 miles anyway. I don't want to set another mile goal for December because I couldn't do any other exercising when trying to get a mile goal. I'll still walk for the majority of my exercise but I need other things too. It's cold to much other than exercise videos or stationary bike, but on those few sunny days I'll play tennis. Happy Friday everyone!
12/01 - 186.6 A good day. No exercise but stayed within calorie limits. Girlfriend brought over some awesome Blackberry Crumble ice cream. It's delicious. I had my 1/2 cup so it would fit within 1400 calories but I wanted another scoop or 2 or 3. That's the lifestyle change right. One small amount of something indulgent is enough. The real challenge is I'm going to a party tonight. I'm definitely walking this morning before the rain starts up again. I'm looking forward to my happy trail just me and my brain time.

11/26 191.4 - I expect a couple of these pounds are holiday leftovers and sodium so I’m hoping with a lot of water and exercise it will drop fairly quickly
11/27 191.8 - ok I was not expecting that. My sodium was a little high but I drank lots of water and walked. I will have to keep the sodium way lower today.
11/28 - 189.4 - That’s more like where I expect to be. Got almost all my water in and had a one hour work out and kept the sodium low.
11/29 - 187.8 - did not expect that. Don’t know if it will stick but fingers crossed

12/1 188.8 - went out to dinner last night so that looks about right. Going to get all my water and get in a long walk.
