    It's very difficult to get a GOOD one. I'll take a piece of rich chocolate cake covered in dark chocolate ganache served with ice cream any day over lava cake. Which is basically a good lava cake, just with the sauce on the outside. Harder to screw up!

    To me, lava cake is a nice idea that just isn't practical. A big blob in the middle that's not quite cake and not quite pudding transitioning to mushy undercooked and a thin layer of properly cooked. I would rather have properly cooked cake with warm chocolate pudding and the ice cream on top.
