I'm personally rethinking my life, relationships, goals, and outlooks. I didn't do my best, however,
I've done better than I have in years. I'm thinking the more positives I put out, the more positives I'll get back.
I'm thinking that my attitude determines my altitude. I am thinking thst I wanna stop pecking around
like a chicken, and take flight like an eagle. I want to do new things that I haven't experienced yet.
I want to: go see a play, a jazz club, take a trip on a plane, ride on a boat, go to a spa, do something
creative, get a wax, go on a hay ride or a carriage ride. But mostly succeed at losing at least 125 pounds.
So I am looking forward to 2019, but I want to have encouraging year ending numbers for 2018.

I'm leaning on you Ladies. Your progress is my joy! I Thank God for you all being in my life. Oh how thankful
I am. Reading how each of you undergird one another through good and bad times, keeps my heart
lifted.👏👏👏👏 THE LOVE I HAVE FOR YOU IS RICH!! Thank you all so much.🌹💕🙏😇😇😇

Finally, getting on the computer at home. Tbh, have enjoyed a couple of days off the darn thing (my job is using one all day, so sometimes, it's just nice not being on at home). I've had goals for each day, so will recap for my own accountability, then post goals for tomorrow. V sorry for the extra-long post!
Recap R 12/20 ~ My last day at work for the rest of the year! :D I am off with Christmas & New Year's holidays, weekends, vacation & personal time. After tomorrow, hubby is done working until next year too. <3 We're not traveling except for day trips during that time. My daily MFP goal will be to post using my computer at home ~ I don't mind logging food using my phone, but dislike posting on my phone.
    1) Meals & usual snacks prelogged / net calories green / 14c water = Ack! Evening snacking to the extreme! Net calories -761 and let's leave it at that. >:) 17c water though (like that makes up for the eating ;) )
    2) Workplace mindfulness hike at lunchtime ~ hoping the drizzle ends = Dreary day but drizzle stopped & we had a good walk ~ just had to be extra careful where snow had melted and refroze. We were asked to notice something that we normally wouldn't, and I was surprised to see SO many cattails that I hadn't really seen before. Oh, and we saw an otter running across the semi-frozen creek! 0.94 miles
    3) Move hourly / stairs breaks at work / 5 somethings = Fitbit 11,887 steps, 250+ steps 13/14 & 30 floors
    4) Evening: choir 6:30 + remember to take cards  / put clean dishes away  / read Sunday ads just too tired / declutter? other to-do's? Post Office to mail 2 late pieces & bagged old sneakers for recycler
    5) Unplug 9:30  / floss :s / retainers :s: / set/verify alarm ~ maybe 8:00? / bed & tv off 11:00  (youngest niece's last Christmas concert is 1:00 and 1+ hour drive time)
    Recap F 12/21 ~ Personal day / rest day = sad dog
    1) Little to-do's in a.m. / boiled eggs / scrubbed heated birdbath & refilled / folded line-dried clothes in laundry room, brought upstairs & put away / reviewed potential recipes in meal plan / organized water bottle, soda & snacks for road trip / put bags of sneakers in trunk
    2) Youngest niece's final Christmas concert / sat w/ mom & dad, aunt & youngest brother <3:smiley:
    3) Remembered to stop at outlet mall on way home and dropped off old sneakers in recycle bin
    4) Back at home: took care of Kitty & dog / finalized grocery list / grocery shopped / started to wrap gifts ~ finished hubby's, SIL, middle brother & some for mom / read thru Sunday ads ~ nothing I/we need desperately so no need to shop on Sat. ~ yippee! Finally finished just before midnight! Skipped floss & retainers (ack), and I was sound asleep when hubby got home from work at 12:30 :'(
    5) Ate late (for me) breakfast, no lunch but healthy snacks during daylight hours & late supper after groceries put away = net calories -41 (fine with me on rest day), sodium green (wow), sugar -17, fiber & protein low (eek) & 11c water
    6) Fitbit 10,195 steps, 250+ steps 11/14 & 29 floors
Recap Sat. 12/22 ~ Enjoyed day at home w/ hubby <3 ~ we watched a movie together (I multi-tasked a little). So happy we were not battling the shopping hordes! :D No alarm set and couldn't believe I slept until nearly 10 a.m.! :o
    1) Walked dog 4.22 mi 1:14:40 = happy dog & happy me
    2) Finished wrapping gifts (YAY) / got organized for stocking bags / washed dishes (yay) / wrote out checks for church next 3 days & car payment
    3) Made WW shepherd's pie for supper / net calories -62, sodium -255, sugar -44 (darn peanut M&Ms! I am really out of control with this ~ need to focus on protein & fiber again), fiber low-ish, protein low, 10c water
    4) Still to-do: floss / retainers / set/verify alarm, bed & tv off 11:00
    JF tomorrow Sun. 12/23
    1) Bible class & church
    2) Walk dog
    3) Watch Packers game (what channel?) / assemble stocking bags & pack for transport / water houseplants / bake stollen / prep veggies for pot roast on Mon. & get out crockpot
    4) Make Tuscan tortellini soup for supper / net calories green / eat enough fiber & protein! / 12c water
    5) Unplug 10:00 / floss / retainers / set/verify alarm (not too early), bed & tv off 11:00

Weekly Weigh-In = When I'm active I eat back calories. My weaknesses: I love food... my sweet tooth, especially chocolate... portion control... FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). I no longer weigh myself daily but I peek occasionally. Saturday a.m. weigh-in is my MFP logging day. My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale. No goal dates set ~ I get there when I get there! As of 5/5/18 set my weekly loss goal at 0.5#.

    Age 61, 5'4.5"
    GW #1: 150 in a livable way = It's. Not. A. Diet.
    GW #2: 145 normal BMI
    UG maintain: 145 - 150 [Need to be realistic! Revised from 140 - 145]

11/5/15 = 195.0 joined MFP with no real plan except It's. Not. A. Diet.

    Scale goals
    End of 2017: 174.6
    February 2018: 173.6
    March 2018: 179.6
    July 2018: 189.6
    August 2018: 187.4
    September: 186.4
    October: 185.4
    November: 188.2
    Today: 191

    Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut
    1. Go to Mac store and see if they can retrieve the files off the iMac. Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" at thrift stores. Practice French braiding on D's hair.
    2. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Regular: needs practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me).
    3. Find out if a second masters pays the same as an EdS (email HH). Revise Machiavelli Prince Analysis - Part 1 paraphrased explanation, Part 2 quote & leader choice & explanation, part 3 reflection. Connect standards to assignments and include them in titles and in gradebook.
    4. Develop writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts.
    5. Write next blog post. Comment on 3 posts each week -Tu Th Sun? Barn order: stapler, pencil sharpener
    6. Keep track of medical stuffs. Dentist? Also Feb 7 9:30 w Ac Int. Sub already set up. Apr 22 McC. Need sub. Call to set up checkups with Dass (October). GET MAGAZINES FOR COLLAGES FROM DOCTORS.
    7. Gifts for dad and DH - look for licorice puffs (Dollar Tree), cookbook. Fix laptop bag.
    8. Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Can poetry unit be condensed?
    9. Go to used bookstore and look for Design for How People Learn (Julie Dirksen), Dying for a Paycheck (Robin Hardman), The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, Harvey Mansfield, or Robert Adams). Check on alternate translations for The Prince.

    Skipped yesterday. Didn't do well.

    JFT-Sat. Dec. 23, 2018
    Make wise food choices!
Stay focused re: food (I actually forget or lose sight of my goals in a moments temptation)..
(Don't give in to myself, just cause out of town
Don't give in to myself, just cause stressed
Don't give into myself, just cause someone offers food that I love.
Don't make an excuse to make a poor choice.
Don't give into mysel just cause favorite restaurant or food.
    Basically: NO MORE EXCUSES!!!)

(I believe my weight gain & inability to get thru at least a week without messing up is that I make excuses & give into myself. Even if they're darned good excuses. I could make one of those every day which is how I started most of my weight gain over the years. )

    Thanks for being here, y'all!

    Happy holidays

Not sure if I’ll log today when we go to our friends or not, I’ll be conscientious though about my intake. I am taking Christmas Eve and Day as “free”. I make appetizers for Christmas Eve and then of course Christmas Day is it’s own thing. I’ll log something to not lose my streak though ;)

Finished the stocking last night, updating this and then going to finish painting my own ladder. Hubby will be going shopping in a few hours so I’ll wrap presents while he’s gone. At least his, I have all wrapping left to do.

I am going to a gathering of friends later on today so am losing some prep hours but making memories instead.

@maryrobinson40 - I love you! You can do this and I truly believe your attitude will help you.

Holy crow I've missed a lot! I'm so sorry that I keep dropping off the face of the planet. It's hard to get on at work sometimes because I'm the only teller there until January 2nd. MG is in California for the holidays with her daughter and boyfriend. And then by the time I get home I dont really want to pull out my laptop and hop on. I feel the same way about logging on to MFP with the computer vs. the cell phone. I also stare at a computer all day. So most of the time when I get home I dont really feel like hauling it out either. Lol. I have been trying to hop on for a minute or two to post goals but sometimes even that is tricky. I'm hoping that I can reset over the next week and be ready to start fresh in the new year.

I still have a few things that I need to do. We're waiting for a direct deposit into our bank account that has been delayed for some unknown reason. I have a feeling it probably wont come until after Monday which makes me really sad because I still wanted to buy a few more things. We still have some money left so I think I may just run to Walmart and pick up a bunch of candy to load the DH's stocking with. Lol.

We are really excited for Christmas. DH has always, for as long as I've known him, been really terrible at buying presents for gift giving holidays(Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries). I always give him a list of things that I want and half the time that doesn't even work. But for some reason, this year he has gone above and beyond. I dont know if it's lack of stress because he isn't working(yes I know that sounds crazy. Lol) or what but it's been really nice. Under our Christmas tree is packed. Lol. I cant wait for Tuesday morning!

I started working on a new story that I am excited about. Like actually working on it. Have a synopsis and a few scenes/chapters/characters/locations all mapped out! Lol. Really excited about that. I am probably going to spend some time working on that today and maybe Monday afternoon.

    Okay, onto goals.

    JFT, 12-23-18

    1. Log all food(for real this time!)
    2. Okay this is getting ridiculous! Please do the effing dishes!
    3. Laundry!
    4. Pick up the living room
    5. Run to Walmart
    6. Work on story
    7. Actually make dinner! It's all defrosted and everything!
    8. Spend time with the DH not on my phone!
    9. Bed early.

    Have a great day/night everyone!

    Eat that frog! (the dishes)
Can't remember where that saying came from but I'm sure it's doing the chore you want to do least, first.
Getting the horrible icky "frog" outta the way. And then do the chores you prefer to do after!

I'm almost done! I have my crock soaking and a handful of coffee cups. Lol. I will get up and do them at 3(it's currently 2:37 Lol). I already picked up the living room and the bedroom AND took the garbage out! Lol. And I have my last load of laundry in the washer at Mom and Dad's house. This is what happens when you dont sleep until past noon on a Sunday! Lol. I haven't had anything to eat though. But I did pass on a cookie and a piece of chocolate caramel. I'm feeling pretty good today.

Stepped on the scale and wasn't as bad as I feared but still pretty bad. This has not been a good year for me. I've gained back about half of the weight I lost when I was unemployed last winter. Is it bad that I prefer to be unemployed? The whole losing half our income would suck but I loved being a housewife. I wish that something happens for us that I can actually do that. I think I just felt better. I had more time to meal prep and more time to go to the gym. Who knows...maybe one day if I can get a couple of books under my belt I'll be able to retire from a regular career and spend all my time raising a family and writing.

    I guess I can dream...

    Monday weigh-in:

    October 15th: 164.25
    October 22nd: 167.25
    October 29th: 163
    November 5th: 164.25
    November 12th: 165.75
    November 19th: 164.25
    November 26th: 162.5
    December 3rd: 160.75
    December 10th: 160.75
    December 17th: 164.5
    December 24th: 163

This weight can't necessarily be trusted as it's on a different scale - I'm at my Mum's for a week. However, I will be still at my Mum's next Monday so I will be able to see if I meet my goal, which is to maintain this weight over the Christmas week!

This will be challenging, as I have three days where we are seeing family and there will be a lot of my favourite food available on those days. However, I think it is achievable. My plan is:
    1) Allow myself to indulge on those three days, but NOT TOO MUCH - I will pay attention to my body and avoid getting overly full. I will also aim to only indulge on the foods I really like and which I only tend to eat at Christmas (e.g. roast potatoes), not food that I'm less bothered about and/or can eat throughout the year (e.g. cheesecake).
    2) Log and stick to normal diet calories on the other four days
    3) Exercise as many days as possible (have a slight problem with this at the moment as I have a cold/ cough, but once I get this shifted there is not reason why I can't exercise pretty much every day. I have lots of time, not being at work!

    Today's goals are pretty simple:

    - Log everything I eat
    - Be in the green
    - Finish buying Christmas presents!!!!

I may not log on tomorrow, so I'd like to wish each and every one of you a Happy Christmas  You are such a
lovely bunch of people, and have been an invaluable support to me throughout 2018.

Whatever you're doing tomorrow, I hope you have an enjoyable day, and that you don't end up in too many family arguments. ;)

(But if you do end up in family arguments, you won't be alone - I'm almost certain to have an argument with my mum at some point...)

Find a recipe for squash soup that looks good.

Scale STILL going up. Going to see if I can't get out of dinner with my family today - we visited yesterday. I just ... I'm awful. I like cookies and candy and I just keep eating them! UGH. So maybe if I'm actually NOT AROUND THEM that would help. Tomorrow's going to be another challenge and I can NOT get out of it.

Just a quick note, as it is a busy day, as Im sure for everyone. We had a wonderful time with our son and grandsons. Our daughter did not go ... she is not doing well at all... and I think she was more afraid of how she would be if she went. I think she is trying to hide what all is going on. So our trip was only for 1 day,and we are back home now.

I do not even want to get on the scale! All I am doing is eating, but I am also not going to worry too much about it ... just try and control the damage.

Yes, Bex, I do plan on starting a 2019 thread .... I am really going to work harder next year to get to my goals, and I think these threads help so many people! Plus, what great friendships we have all become
    ~

So I wanted to wish you all a very merry and blessed Christmas, and I hope the new years brings all of us many blessings from above, good health, good times, but mostly, good health!~

    Love you all!

Merry Christmas Eve Sisters!!! I love you dearly!
Laugh, play games, pamper yourselves. My sister Madeline gave
me a throw and fuzzy booties for my feet. My nephew's wife gave
me some Vanilla Bean lotion, and hand soap from Bath and Body Works.
It's not about material things for me... I just need love and TLC.

I just sat down for the first time in 9 hours! I finally am ready for Christmas. I will bake my pies in the morning before the gang all arrives! I have my ladder done and 5 stockings hanging on it. I would need a 6 foot ladder for all 8 to fit.

Ok I’m off!!!! It’s a Wonderful Lifebis starting and hubby and I will watch it while we have appetizers for supper!

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Morning all! Hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had a lovely day - the kids were so excited and happy with their presents and everyone got on. I massively overindulged and am feeling it this morning. Didn’t log at all but it wasn’t pretty! Puffy with water retention and super sluggish - ugh!

But I’ve got up determined to get back to usual. I’ve done a workout and need to stay motivated. It’s my sister’s birthday so we will head back to my parents’ place for dinner this evening. There will be loads of food and a birthday cake that I’ve made but I would really prefer not to have another big blowout. Need to remember how grim I felt first thing this morning!

    So, goals for today:
    - morning workout ✅
    - Head to shops to exchange gift
    - Sort younger daughter’s room and hang mirror and lights
    - Laundry and cleaning
    - Parents for evening
    - Water!
    - New resident permit for car
    - Early night

Have a great day all x

Skipped a couple days. It's been very stressful & also long road trip. Eating to stay awake while driving & due to boredom. But could have made wiser choices. It was a free for all. if I keep making excuses, I'll never get to where I want to be weight wise & healthwise. I'll try again, here.

I'm working on changing some bad habits too. Need to get more sleep & go to bed earlier & wake up earlier....then maybe I can incorporate exercise.

    JFT:
    Dec. 26
    *Weigh
    *make wiser food choices
*drink at least 4 glasses of water
    *unpack
    *plan meals through Monday
    *pay couple of parents bills
*work on 1 or all of these:
find VA fiduciary stuff for meeting,
    find dentist for parents,
write rough draft response to attorney, email bro & SIL
    *9:30 get ready for bed
    * make list for tomorrow

Merry Christmas!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday. I really enjoyed my day it was so nice and peaceful!

I will post my goals tomorrow. I’m not feeling 100% today so im going to relax and maybe play with my new toy! I got a Cricut! Also, I fit into large PJ’s! I’m so proud of myself!

My daughter took a picture of me from the side, I’m anxious to compare from one she took last year.
