Its not the look itself, its that it has become a fashion. The clothing type served a purpose for outdoorsmen, etc but now its worn to immitate a rugged look. Its totally ruined flannel for me, I wont even wear it. The look has even been coined as "lumbersexual". I'm sure its just my problem though as I tend to go whatever is opposite of trendy.1 -

I have toothpick legs and no butt, skinny jeans are the only way to salvage some semblance of a derriere.
I'd happily see the demise of the low rise trend though, I'm tired of constantly hiking them up.2 -
