I'm joining in on this challenge. I'm usually not good at posting much but I will try to do a better job with it here.
I have been doing more walking since the fall and enjoy hanging out with like minded people. I wanted to focus on walking indoors this winter because I get terrible winter blues and knew this one would be especially difficult due to grief. If i waited to go outdoors, I wouldn't get much exercise in other than a quick and short walk for the dog.
I found Leslie Sansone Walk At Home videos and have been using her app for encouragement. Each month there is a calendar with daily workouts on it. It is such a great variety for me. I typically do the 3, 4, and 5 mile ones but the shorter ones are great for those days that I don't get up early like I plan. I found her worksheet for her 100 day walking challenge and that was a HUGE motivator for me.
I've also joined some stepbet games to help keep me motivated through the winter. It turns out that I am loving that. I was fortunate enough to find a really active and encouraging host for my second game. I continue to join her games.
My goal is simply to keep moving. I have set a personal goal of a minimum of 30 minutes or 1 mile of walking each and every day and at least 5 of those days to be 10k steps or more.5 -
Hi! I am joining you guys! Walking is my fave. Love walking on pretty trails and parks with my doggie! I work in a hospital (desk job) so I try to do a 2k walk on the long hallways every day + stairs.
I broke my foot in the summer and couldn't walk for 3 months, it was horrible! Gained over 5 pounds. But now back at it.1 -

Hi! I'd like to join! I've been walking a lot so far this year. I always have young kids with me...ALWAYS.
I have found a great way to get some exercise is to walk laps around my house or around a playground while the kids play. I do not have a big yard, but I manage to walk 2-4 miles just looping around. Not the most exciting, but it's something!
I don't track steps, but I use the Map My Fitness app to track my miles. So far this year I've walked 40.4 miles.
I had never heard of walking workout videos before, but now I'm intrigued...I might have to check those out on bad weather days!2 -
Momentarily mad...but more motivated to log. I’m up 2 pounds from yesterday due to overeating and not logging from 3 pm on.
This is another reality check for me about the importance of logging. At 48 it’s harder to lose weight than it was in my 20s. I’ve got to log it to lose it!
Getting that out and seeing it in print feels so much better than holding in the frustration. Today is a new day!
Jill
"I've got to log it to lose it" - This really resonates for me. I've been on MFP for years, but I go through phases of logging. When I take it seriously and weigh and log my food, I always lose weight. It's all about being intentional!1 -
would love to join this , i am aiming to walk 10,000 a day including the weekends2
-
Just checking in! Been trying to increase my average steps per day. Last week i got in 7500/day, up from 5000 the week before, so there's improvement! Went back to the gym after almost 3 months and have been using the sauna which seems to be helping with soreness... started doing some jogging on the treadmill and no pain! Yay!
Good job so far everyone! Changing habits is hard work!4 -
I am a klutz! Last Monday I tripped while walking up our outside stairs on our front porch. I hit my right knee on the concrete porch and jammed my left heel into the cement while trying to correct myself. I’m good... no broken bones, but I have a deeply bruised heel.
Walking slowly and deliberately.

Our dog’s goal is to walk us 3.5 miles 5-6 times per week. He’s a great trainer! Also encouraging us to get out!5

Hi, I’ve been logging it at walking at a moderate pace but I don’t know if that’s right or not! Would be good see what other people do.1 -
For January I only ended up with 83 miles but I walked a LOT between Oct. - Dec. 2018 and I was getting imbalanced. I was neglecting my lifting so mid-Jan. I made a conscious effort to get back to my lifting routine and realized that I can fit in my walks whenever I can but don't need to be so rigid about it. Maintaining balance is key for me to be happy. Looking forward to starting a new month though!2

Thanks you, I doing a step challenge for work

I finished Jan with 48 miles total.
I didn't get out much last week since it was so cold, but already starting on the right foot this week. I did 4 miles at the track on Sunday. I ran some too and felt great! I had to really watch my footing though because there was snow and ice.
I'm in New England and we went from dangerous, freezing temps last week up to 60 degrees yesterday! If only it would stay this warm. ☀️2 -

What are you to to today?
