Well I got up off the sofa and went to the gym, I found out endorphins are a good alcohol substitute!6 -

Not sure if this helps but I started Feb 1 -0 alcohol but I also started the treadmill. I had a headache for 3 weeks at bed time and in am. It's gone now but I'm still doing treadmill. It also could be the reduction in calories and/or sugar from drinks. Hang in there while your body recovers!
Thank you! I really love to run! Will drink tons of water, take vitamins and try in the morning. Just reading about Stage 2 of the Detox cycle and I have most of the symptoms including the high blood pressure and feeling really hot. Seriously hope menopause is not coming on right now since it's the last thing I need LOL!3 -
400 days alcohol-free today!
Also medication-free for a long while too.
I've learned so much since I started with you guys in February last year.
Was seeing my GP today about some severe recent stress, and it was a very insightful and beneficial 35-minute chat on many topics including 'observing thoughts and emotions and putting words to them'.
I've never aimed for anything called this, but she said I have "achieved mindfulness".
I'm rather *kitten* chuffed!
(I also didn't have to pay for the visit. Bonus win!)

Sorry to hear about your lousy day. We have all been there! Sometimes it’s even “forget the calories, where’s my drink!” So good for you not throwing it out the window. Maybe some tea with honey is a comfort substitute?

It will pass, fear not! That first morning you wake up well rested is just wonderful. Keep it up, it does get better!

It's Friday... I need a plan to stay AF tonight. Hubs comes home at the weekend and our usual routine is to go out for a drink and a meal together so we can catch up and reconnect, then home for a movie and more drinks in bed. I'm worried about not drinking as it helps me loosen up around him when I haven't seen him for a while.5

today’s plan. Don't buy a bottle.
3/7 – well its been 34 hours without my whiskey. Not really an accomplishment for some but after failing at Less I am attempting cold turkey. I do have a couple cheat days planned for social events but no bottles in my house for a long while. I have no confidence that I will succeed.
3/8 – 58 hours AF – long story – delete delete delete. I am regretting cold turkey. To anyone that drinks 1/5th or more of 80 proof a day alcohol. Get medical support or taper off before quitting cold turkey. Read up. I have every symptom besides death so far and I do not feel cleansed of alcohol yet. Going to be a hard weekend!

DH's sales rep had a beer waiting for me when I joined them after I strolled through the San Fran MOMA for 4 hours. No will power to turn it away when sitting in 3rd Street Tap Room.
Mar 7 - 1 beer - DH & I made a pact no alcohol for the rest of Lent which will commence for us Friday!4 -
My goals for March will be the same as the previous months - 4 AF days per week. I have found it to be a realistic goal for me. I hit my goal in February (and surpassed it a little). Daily accountability is good. I was a daily drinker before making this resolve.
I log the next morning usually.
March 01 - 3 drinks - yes, chose to do that because I have a free Saturday to sleep in, basically no responsibilities or commitments. I had a very busy week and it was so nice to finally kick back, have a great dinner and a few drinks.
March 02 - AF
March 03 - AF
March 04 - AF
March 05 - AF - technically my goal of 4AF for the week.
March 06 - AF
March 07 - 3 drinks
5 AF days out of 7 days so far3 -
Both kids have the day off of school today. Usually that means I'll have several beers on Thursday night because I don't have to get up so early Friday morning, but I didn't drink last night and didn't even think about it. I was bummed that I was out of kombucha more than anything!
My sister wants to see some band at a bar tonight and I really don't feel like doing that. I already have enough beer in the fridge to drink tonight. I don't want to sit in some dirty crowded bar, watching a band I don't know and having to pay for drinks. I think if she and her husband decides to go, I'll just go home.7 -

I have planned a mini spa evening, some chocolate and crisps (naughty, but I shared most of them yesterday so I don't have too much 😉) planning to look through family holiday pics, my brother wants some for some picture frames. So I will be shortlisting a few for him.
Cuddle with my cats and watch a film I think. So good going to bed knowing that when you awake, you will feel funky fresh !
🤗🙌👌
Sounds WONDERFUL!!
Enjoy!!2 -

Sounds like your making good healthy changes/choices. That's not easy. Good job and I hope your evening goes well.2 -
I've already failed my March goal of only having 4 drinking days but I'm not too mad at myself. I bought a bottle of bubbly rose at the farmers market and used the wine saver attachment on my food saver to keep it fresh. I drank the bottle across the span of 5 days and was pleasantly surprised at how well the food saver worked and at my ability to moderate. Normally I buy a bottle of wine with the intention of drinking the whole thing, being satisfied with my little 5 oz pours felt new and exciting. The bottle is now gone and I'm going to focus on racking up some more AF days .9

Good morning all.
There is a reason they call it MARCH MADNESS
Extreme intent for a dry January and maybe a damp February.....then comes March. The month we think we have it figured out and can handle the pressures of drinking with what we have learned.
Do not be discouraged. Drinking less does not happen over night in most of our situations.( I could be poster child for that statement.)
Wishing everyone a weekend they can wake up and be happy with themselves.7 -

I like the advice of not drinking 2 days in a row. I can see how that would help, I'll have to try that! Good job on being AF more days than not so far this month!4 -
As I emerge from my life in denial, today I had the courage to do the math - I have spent "at least" $36,400 in total on my drinking habit the past 10 years. I could travel to so many countries and see the world with this money, seriously. My game plan is to open up a savings account and start investing in me....I am going to reward myself for all those drinks I am no longer drinking and redirect that money towards something that makes me really happy.....12

As the year closed in 2018, I knew I needed to get a handle on my drinking, not only for my weight, but behavior. I am happy I am on my way to my goal and have lost ten pounds! The most important thing is my relationship with alcohol! I was dry in a Jan, had a few major mess ups in Feb (learned a lot), and have had a few days in March with a few glasses of wine. Not overdoing it and using alcohol as a crutch. I am happy of my progress and will continue to push towards my goals of a healthier lifestyle!
Best to all!

I live in the UK so we don't have liquor stores, we used to have things called 'off licences' but I don't know if they exist any more. I actually get most of my groceries through home delivery by shopping online, pretty normal here, but it makes it a lot easier to order alcohol without fear of raised eyebrows (except from the driver, but they don't care!)
I need to start doing that. I absolutely hate going to the supermarket. It’s the chore that never ends. I’ve started paying my sons to go shopping for me.
Win win, they earn some money and I don’t have to do it!
Proud of you!! Awesome!0 -

Checking in and seeing how you are doing.1 -
I drank on Friday night and we ended up not going out to the bar, which I'm happy about. I would have just drank too much and spent too much money! So I drank my usual amount of beer. Then I was sassy and drank a few beers last night out of sheer boredom. I have to stop doing that but at times I just don't want to! At least I'm not hungover today and I'm actually in a pretty good mood. Sometimes I'll be really depressed after a night of drinking. Hopefully it will get easier in the summer when the kids can stay up later and we can actually go outside to do things.
Last year around this time was when I stopped following this thread. I thought I had a good handle on my drinking habits. But then I just started drinking however much I wanted whenever I wanted again. I probably drank 2-3 times per week and didn't pay attention to how much I drank any time. So at least this year I am already in the habit of counting my drinking/dry days every month. So far I didn't drink 7/10 days (I know I won't drink today).
I'm seeing a band at a small venue in town on Thursday and that'll be a test for me. I'm a pretty socially awkward person and I always need a beer in hand during smaller events like that (when I will most likely run into a bunch of people I know). Hoping to drink no more than 3 beers that night and since I'm going with my sister and she doesn't drink as much as I do, I'll probably stick to it.6
