Sacrifice is the only answer to weight stall

I believe the Keto diet advisers sometimes mislead people. I’ve concluded that my end of the day treat of 4-6ounces of red wine is causing me to not lose weight faster on Keto. Granted there are no carbs BUT the wine turning to sugar once in the system, stalls the fat burning system. I’ve lost some pounds but it’s been very slow ...which is atypical of Keto so I’ve been told. I have been super conscientious about what I eat and I exercise 3-4 times a week and moving up to 5x once my schedule cooperates. So, just my two cents on alcohol and Keto. I guess it depends on how fast you want to lose but my aim is a lot faster! Summer is around the corner!!!

I drank wine during weight loss. But then, I ate all the foods. It's not the wine.14

or maybe as simple as cutting the wine reduced your calories enough to be in the deficit required to lose weight.
Lots of people maintain current weight or even gain on keto. weight loss is not a given.12 -

Anyone in a deficit burns fat, whether they consume wine or not.
You burn more fat on keto only because you eat more fat, there is not some magical "fat-burning" that cannot happen if you eat carbs. Otherwise, how can you explain the many of us who lost while eating many more carbs than keto level.
That said, if dropping wine is a good way for you to cut cals, great.
Beginning of keto often has a sharp weight drop because of water weight, not fat. My personal experience with keto was that the calories I needed for maintenance were identical to what they'd been when not doing keto.10 -
Sacrificing is the reason most diets fail. The best advice I ever got was to not cut any foods out of my diet that I wasn't willing to cut out of my life forever. Instead, find a way to incorporate the foods (and wines) you like into an overall healthy eating plan. It's not necessary to cut any foods out of your diet to lose weight. Eating less calories than you use is what does that. Keto doesn't work because of the foods you are eating, it works because you eat those foods in quantities that keep you in a calorie defecit. Most likely, you are eating more calories than you think you are. Weigh your food, track your calories, log your progress then reassess in 30 days.13

It isn't the wine. It's the calories from the wine...and all the other calories you are consuming. Unless you have a significant amount of weight to lose, one pound a week is considered safe and healthy weight loss.7 -

The issue isn't the wine, it's your unrealistic expectations. With only 40lbs to lose you should be aiming for 1lb a week, which means you're pretty much right on track. Too rapid of weight loss can lead to all sorts of health problems.
eta: I lost 50lbs without having to 'sacrifice' anything I enjoyed eating/drinking, I just had to learn how to fit them into my calorie targets. That made this whole thing sustainable for me, for the long term.15 -
Ha.....I lost 170 pounds and ate everything I wanted. Granted, I moved a lot more, tracked what I ate, and didn't go overboard on splurges.
Sacrificing leads to failure. When I started this journey I told myself that I'd never be successful if I cut out everything I enjoyed. And well, I've kept most of it off for 6 years now. So, there's that.12 -
All who commented on calorie deficit and weight loss are spot on correct. I totally agree. However, I still believe that wine and Keto do not go hand in hand. I will enjoy wine for the rest of my life (I’m European after all) but for now I’ll go without it and see what turns up (or down....😂). As for the Keto....I feel really good doing this, have more energy!7

With 40 pounds to lose you should be aiming to average a pound a week over time (you're not likely to lose exactly a pound a week every week, especially if you are a woman with a menstrual cycle.)
If you create too aggressive a deficit, you run the risk of burnout and binging, which can look like this:

It's customary to give a source when you give a quote. Who are you quoting and is the source from a scientific study or one weight loss guru's opinion? You may be right, we all sacrificed something. I sacrifice the time I use to spend binge watching Netflix for time spent being active. I sacrifice the time I used to spend eating out for eating at home. It's a struggle but someone has to do it.11

But wine doesn't stop weight loss.
I quit drinking completely so I'm not here defending the wine. I had already lost my weight, though - while still drinking alcoholic beverages.

This seems silly to me.
Of course your keto diet minus the wine will lead to faster weight loss than your keto diet with the wine.
Insert vegan, vegetarian, high carb, mediteranean, xyz for keto. Wine has calories, cutting it out means less calories.

Goood grief carbs do not make you fat nor do they stall weight loss. I was never under 250 carbs and lost over 80 pounds. Some of those junk carbs..gasp9

To each their own. For some people restricting everything under the sun seems to work for them. It's not my style.
I had a big McDonald's burger and fries yesterday. I filled a craving I was having and it fit within my overall goals. I have certainly limited certain things as part of my weight loss, but I have never had to fully give up anything.
Keto is not a magic bullet. Despite what some of its promoters will have you believe, plenty of people don't lose, and some even gain on Keto. It cannot escape the laws of physics which is calories in vs calories out. If you are eating close to your maintenence, that is why you are not losing fast. Wine has calories in it, so cutting it will make a small change in your overall deficit and slightly increase your weight loss. But there's nothing special about it.
