Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I went to the office and we had snacks during our classes, but I managed to keep my calories under control. We went to Cracker Barrel for lunch, and I didn't realize how calorific everything is when you eat out. Holy wow! I hardly ever eat takeout, even. I haven't had my nightly vino in three days, so I'll count that a success! I don't count calories during the weekend (because Saturday is my cheat day and Sunday is my long run day, but I ran 7 miles on Sunday. I haven't ran that far in a decade. My goal is to run a half marathon in October. I did eat some not-so-great foods, but4 -

Successes/struggles: Overall it’s been a pretty good week. Off work for the Easter holidays (UK teacher) so reduced general activity but I’ve managed to counteract this with running and workouts. A couple of slips food-wise where I gave into some emotional stuff that’s going on but I’m so pleased that I managed to quickly reset in both cases. And super excited that I’ve got more progress in my running - managed 10k hilly route in less than 57 minutes, which is pretty good going for me! Hope I can keep it up for my second week off next week.
Wish you all a great weekend and week to come x7 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Changing from concentrating on daily net calories to weekly net. Mind blown! I had a thousand-calorie dinner last night, and it fit into my weekly allowance. Whoa, what a trip.
Also weird, reintroducing more fat into my daily diet. ADDING fat to a meal, instead of SUBTRACTING it, has been been a mind game of epic proportions.6 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: A good week with wild swings from beginning to end. The folks on the unit threw me a going away party last Sunday, and I indulged pretty freely. Going from a usual daily intake of <2 grams of sodium to god-knows-how-much along with lotsa calories rocketed my weight to about 170 to start the week. A couple of days later, the fully expected but still crazy 5-pound loss in a day. Today is particularly low, though I chalk it up to probably being a bit dehydrated. I also tightened the screws a little too much through the week, given my weekly net. Finding a balance that will work for me is definitely a big part of maintenance.
Spring has sprung and I've finally started to move my runs outdoors, which has led to about an extra mile a day and quite a few more steps. I downloaded Zombies, Run! to liven them up a bit (yeah, I'm a little ADD) and it's been entertaining.
@erjones11 giving yourself license to eat back exercise calories is tough - I definitely get that! You're doing great, though, and look to have stabilized where you'd like to be. Well done!
Have a great week, everyone!6 -

I usually check my weight once or twice a week. This week however, I only checked my weight once. And I am tempted not to check it at all if I am just doing the same thing to maintain my weight. The scale reading really isn't changing, and I feel it physically when I am gaining or losing weight at this point. Do you know what I mean? Do you go a week or two without checking your weight if your diet consistently supports your maintenance goals?0 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: My weight fluctuations were pretty crazy this week. After a high sodium meal out in the middle of the week, I was up to 113 lbs on Thursday, way past the high end of my maintenance range. I dropped back down to 110 yesterday, and then dropped down again to 108.6 today. I haven't seen anything that low since mid-December. Weight fluctuations are weird! I have been getting in a tiny bit more activity than usual with nicer weather. It's getting easier to get in not only my minimum 10k steps per day, but even a bit more now (almost 17k steps today even after a very late start to the day, from walking outside for a few hours).7 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Have my first vacation (NYC) since being on maintenance this week. I intend to hit the gym three times for 45 minutes each and do lots of walking. I’m not so worried about what the numbers might be as long as I stick to my plan. Success/struggles of the week: my weight and trend are up again. It's upsetting a bit, but i still overdo it with snacking, so that's mostly why. Combine that with lower activity and that's the obvious result. I'm feeling better, so that's a plus. Hip pain is limiting my options, walking is painful, cycling feels better, but can't really go hard, taking easy rides. Loading up on fruit, veggies, salads. I've been doing it for a long time, it works for me, so on to the next week. Hope it's a good one for all of you too!10 -

I just put down my AVERAGE for the seven days of daily weight. There's even more elegant ways to get a number that smooths out the fluctuations like Trendweight or WeightGrapher. You could report your trending weight or just an average. Check out the Hackers Diet for more information . There's a group on here that has a "True Weight Challenge" where you enter your weight each day, and it calculates a geometric mean rolling average. Very nice! I wrote a longer explanation about this an another chat. I'm sure it would be fine to post an average here.2 -

Success of the week: Commuted by bike all four days this week. Well, sort of. I took the truck to work Tuesday morning so I could run an errand, but biked back after lunch. Good call -- they closed a bunch of roads due to flood, and if I had my truck it would have taken me over an hour to get home. By bike? Less than 15 minutes. I seem to be maintaining just a hair above my ultimate goal, but still right near the bottom of my range.
Struggle of the week: I shifted my work week so I could attend a meeting on what is normally a day off. I was a day "off" all week. We packed our offices into boxes so the walls could get paint. That's a big change in routine. I'm also still trying to get some details dialed in so I can go on a river trip soon.
Overall, April looks pretty good, just like March did. Daily fluctuations, but steady average. Those fluctuations aren't as big as they look -- this whole graph only covers a six pound range.

Welcome to the next part of your journey. Congratulations on the loss to get to maintenance. Just like losing, you'll find maintenance really simple, but probably not easy. When you have a few times when your weight starts to come back, just take notice and make small changes. Try not to let it get you down, because it WILL happen. We can do this!5 -

Yesterday: 123 lbs.
Maintenance range: 120 to 125 lbs.
I usually check my weight once or twice a week. This week however, I only checked my weight once. And I am tempted not to check it at all if I am just doing the same thing to maintain my weight. Do you go a week or two without checking your weight if your diet consistently supports your maintenance goals?
I think everyone is different when it comes to weighing in. My eating habits and exercise routine fluctuate A LOT, so I probably need to weigh-in more often than someone who has a more consistent approach to maintenance. Also, I checked my weight much more often in my first year of maintenance as I was TERRIFIED of gaining. Now I find I am much more relaxed, and I weigh-in about once or twice a week. In general, I think maintenance is a very personal process. We each need to discover what works best for us as individuals. If you are "tempted" to distance yourself from the scale a bit, it could be an interesting learning experience for you. I would love not to be so attached to my "number," but I need to weigh-in frequently for accountability.7 -

Successes/struggles: Checking in early as I have long Easter weekend plans without access to a scale. It’s been a good week - lots of sunshine and activity. Have fought off a couple of strong binge urges by just giving myself permission to eat a bit more and not trying to obsessively ‘bank’ calories. I told myself it didn’t matter if my weight went up a pound or two, the main thing was not to have a binge and then feel bad. And instead of a gain I have a loss! This is big progress for me in maintenance and I need to keep it up and keep learning.
Easter weekend is here and I’m going to try and enjoy it... but mindfully! Hope you all have a great weekend, whether you’re celebrating or not x7
