Since I drank on Wednesday evening, I will stay AF tomorrow evening. Good thing about staying AF tomorrow night, wake up totally fresh for starting my holiday. ☀️
Saturday - @ hotel - drinks
Sunday - mountain climb - drinks
Monday - @ hotel - drinks
Tuesday - AF
Wednesday - AF
Thursday - AF
Friday - AF
Saturday - out for meal & drinks
Sunday - AF
During my hotel stay I want to keep a real lid on my drinking as I want to enjoy the holiday and not be hungover. That is my biggest motivator. C'mon, I can do this!!
Yes you can! You earned your AF medals...enjoy your upcoming week!2 -
Quick update tonight- went to tap class and my grumpiness went away! Amazing what s little exercise will do to improve one’s mood. Also didn’t drink tonight. 😊5
-
I am going to continue with my goal of 4AF days per week.
Weight loss is my main motivator.
April 1 - AF
April 2 - AF
April 3 - AF
April 4 - 3 drinks
April 5 - AF - super glad to have this forum to check in to for accountability, it really does stop me some days when I have had crazy days at work and really feel like having drinks.
April 06 - 3 drinks, and up 1.6 pounds in one day from it. All the more reason for AF days : - )
April 07 - AF - planning AF for the next 3 days at least
April 08 - AF
April 09 - AF
April 10 - AF
April 11 - AF - planned night out for the 12th, jam session at a bar. I have sang without drinking before, but prefer to loosen up with a couple first...we'll see. I love being less bloated, especially in the face.
Running total: 9AF days out of 11 days so far4 -

I love that you go to tap class : - )
Exercise is great! The endorphins are better than booze - well, different effect at least.3 -
AF Day 436. Ran 25 km on a lovely golden Autumn morning.
Left, wine glass commonly used about 40 years ago;
Right, wine glass now.
Saw this just now, and thought you'd all find it insightful. Best wishes, lovely people!!6 -
Good Morning my LA Friends.
I am learning.
I'm learning that when I don't want to get on here and post or my UAC group it is because I am feeling disappointed in myself and don't want to own up to it.
I am learning that the more I do that, the more I have felt recently like I am slipping away from my drive for success. I am seeing the warning flags go up.
I am trying to take heed in them and own up to it.
I am also learning that I REALLY feel better when I don't drink......LOL Lightbulb moment right....silliness.
So after the funeral Wednesday, I was finally feeling a bit more back to a normal routine. It was a long week. Then at 4:00 I get a call that our 3 dogs are out exploring our town......not sure where they all went, but I can tell they had a good time. They were a mess and one is limping. Thankful all home safe and sound.
It was a sunny glorious day. I really wanted to go be with friends after work and reminisce about Doug. But knew I needed to get home. My husband was still recovering from his flu bug. My morning plan was to go to the gym or walk the dogs or exercise in the basement......FORGOT ALLLL ABOUT THAT when I got home.....exhausted, glad it was sunny, grabbed a bottle of beer and sat in my swing in the back yard and let the breeze blow my hear and the sun splash my face and arms. Felt so good. After my R&R time, back in the house, "I got this" only two or three beers...…...NOT...……...6 down, along with a raid to the Girl Scout cookies.
I learned last night, when completing my food diary that what I ate and drank Wednesday, had me 1,000 calories over with a 5 week prediction back at 202 pounds!!! That's a tough lesson to learn.
Last night, AF. By choice. Thought about grabbing a beer just before bedtime because it taste oh so good. But I want to get completely away from that thinking. I love my alcohol. I love party animal. But she's really starting to annoy me and I'd like to distance myself from her.
Tonight, Class of 80 & friends monthly get together. I think I am doing this one AF. At the most, I may allow myself one beer on the final round. I am driving. That's my motivation. I have two beers at home. When I get back I can have those two.
Tomorrow my husband has to work so I don't want to sleep the day away or feel groggy most of it. I have a room to paint!!
Thank you all for letting me ramble. Sorry for the long post. This is my therapy I absolutely LOVE reading all your posts. Wishing you all the best.

@FeelinFooFoo Yes you can do it FooFoo!! You've got it....Like @globalhiker said....my words exactly
@Womona I love that you're taking tap dance classes!! They say that exercise is one of the best things to prevent or help with depression.
@dawnbgethealthy You sing with a band!! How cool!! What kind of music do you sing? You have been doing so good, that I know you will get to that point of singing without the extra motivation. Keep it close, and look it in the eye...…….knowing you are stronger Just my quick visual2 -

Teri, I can relate to everything you said. Stay with us....It's been a difficult and challenging time but you are strong and can do this.2 -
I broke the streak and had 4 16oz IPA's last night. The 1st one was my choice, and the other 3 weren't. That's ok - I'm back on the AF for another week or so before I'll let myself have another cheat day.7
-
Week 2 so far still in the game, the countdown continues:
April 8- 9 oz pinot grigio
April 9- 8 oz dry rose (measured and poured the rest down the drain)
April 10-7 oz pinot grigio (feel like crying b/c it's not enough LOL)
April 11-6.3oz Korbel champagne (Meh. I am now limited to "baby bottles", choices are very limited, learned 187ml is really 6.3oz, weird since 5oz is a serving right?)
April 12-8 oz dry Sicilian rose
Today is Friday. Made a conscious decision to stop the Friday sabotage. No silly Friday reward filled with mindless eating and drinking. Sushi and comedy shows tonight......5 -
April accountability ~12 days so far
No Alcohol: 6 days
Alcohol: 6 days (13 drinks)
Goal: AF days 4 per week / 16 per month
You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine. - John C. MaxwellWhat a big change in my life … 2016-2018 I could not count my AF days … it was 2-5 glasses per night or other drink usually 6-7 nights per week. Loving the change I’ve made in 2019 and it is helping the numbers on the scale go down.Apr 8 - AF
Challenging week ahead. Less than stellar start for the month. Ended up 1 day short of my goal for the week.
Apr 1 - AF
Apr 2 - AF
Apr 3 - 2 glasses of wine. Dinner at home with DH instead of going to new bar with Sisters Who Sip.
Apr 4 - 1 glass of wine w/ DH and 2 at Bunco. Slipped on that daily goal! Bunco: Plan 1 glass wine I’ve got to learn to stop at 1 at social events when there are multiple open bottles!
Apr 5 - 3 glasses of wine (did not start with the beer before hand with DH which is a win) @ camp ... drank a bottle of water before bed then out fishing in boat early this morning.
Apr 6 - 1 beer at 4pm fishing off the dock @ camp. WIN did not open the bottle of wine for dinner.
Apr 7 - AF
Apr 9 - AF - Alumnae meeting theme “Learn the Art of Cocktails” with plenty of wine too: Plan just skip this month! Way to tempting and easy to go beyond my limits as well as the drive is 20 miles each way.
Apr 10 - 2 glasses of wine; dinner with my sister; she pulled out the bottle
Apr 11 - 2 glasses of wine; dinner with DH; he brought one home oh well
Apr 12 - AF - I had planned to drink but decided I needed to make up for the last 2 days of unexpected wine. Day out with my daughter and daughter-in-law. Spring Spectacular: shopping & mimosas: Plan limit 1 drink, daughter ordered wine with her lunch … and I declined. So flew through the day AF after all.
Headed to the fishing camp for the next 4-5 days ... challenging times ahead!6 -

Hi Teri ( @AbandondedKSCharger )
Did it really feel good? Are you sure you didn't feel guilty or disappointed? No niggling voice or unsettled feelings?
I'm not a hippy or anything, but I do think a certain self-awareness (call it mindfulness if you like) and honesty with yourself is so important when you want to lose weight and change habits that are dragging you down.
Just something I felt I could comment on.
So awesome you're admitting what happened and observing your actions. Well done. Your honesty helps others, I'm sure.6 -

These are huge discoveries, and big milestones on turning the corner of cutting down on drinking. Happy for you!1 -
AF last night- went to see my niece in her school play. So great to see I’m not the only one with the acting bug!
A few months ago I would have given a lot of mental energy the alcohol I didn’t get to drink. So happy to go to an event on a Friday night and not miss it at all! I could really engage and enjoy the performance instead of figuring out how I could get a drink before the night was over.2 -
@FeelinFooFoo it amazing how your perception changes. A whole bottle has gone from a normal amount to “too much for me”.
I’m with you in tastes changing. I’m really tasing the alcohol in a way I didn’t before, and it’s not especially pleasant. I’m not enjoying it like I used to.
I guess it’s like cutting out candy bars. When they are out of your system for a while, then you take a bite of a candy bar, it’s “Gak! Way too sweet. Blech!”2 -

April 12 - 4 drinks - Didn't even go out to the jam in the neighbouring town. I had such a long busy workday and 9pm just seemed too late for me to start to gussie up and drive there. I probably wouldn't have had any drinks had I gone, because I was driving. I was just too tired lol. It actually was nice to relax, have a few drinks, watch hockey.

Great to hear that you had an AF day Teri. It is better for the waistline ; - )
I love this forum too. Checking in daily really is keeping me accountable. I read everyone's posts every day. We are all ahead of the game just by checking in.
I sang for a living for 10 years when I was young, I just got back into it over the last few years as a hobby with a bunch of retired guys (I am not retired). We practice once a week but haven't played anywhere out. It is in another town, so I don't drink because I have to drive. Also we practice at 2 in the afternoon because we all go to bed at like 8pm lol. We do Southern Rock, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker type stuff. Super fun.4 -
No wine since March 5th, and my un-abling daughter refused to stop at the wine store with me on that weekend. Not exactly refused...more like just kept rambling on and driving on. I grabbed a 6 pack of NA beer that day at the grocery and it lasted til this Wednesday. Not much of a beer drinker, but...When the last 2 NA beers washed down a plate of mussels marinara, I didn't realize how I would feel the next day.
That 6 pack sitting in the fridge for 5 weeks was a safety net, a crutch, a parachute just in case...Thursday was not good. Why did I drink 2 on that last day ?? If I had waited til Friday or Saturday to finish the 6 pack it would only be one more day til I could get more. I actually came close to considering pouring out a sip or two of the dry Sherry I use to preserve my ginger roots. The feeling passed eventually. I ran upstairs and hid under the covers with Stephen King for the evening. Did the same last night [Don't anybody tell Tabitha].
I believe this last few days tell me that I'm still not ready for moderation.
Dadgumit !!6 -
Here it is just about half way through April. Now that the great white North is finally melting of snow and ice it is going to be time to incorporate more outdoors activities. Someone's post above mentioned how nice it is to come home on a lovely day and hang out on the deck with a cold one. That, in the past, was my final destination after work. It was so automatic. Barely get into the house, pat the dogs on the head and then pour an alcoholic drink to sip (gulp/inhale) on the deck in the warm weather. While having a list of chores in my head that I wanted to accomplish after this ONE drink. Yea.....it never panned out that way.
Fast forward to the present. MFP gave me a notification that "drum roll please" I am down 12 pounds from exactly one year ago today. And the reason....."less" alcohol, I did not say totaly alcohol free.
Now I have the motivation to get my butt out of that deck chair and check off my to do list. Plus, the fact there are no more drunk'n munchies that would always follow too much drinking.
For those of you wanting to see a slimmer you from not drinking as much - it is possible. Yet like everything else, it unfortunately is not an over night solution. You CAN achieve your goals.
Have a super day everyone.8 -
Day 30 AF. Can't believe I made it! Definitely not rewarding myself with a drink. I think my reward was saving about $80 not buying alcohol in the past month. I'll use it to buy a new outfit or shoes.13

AF last night (Sunday). Had only one with dinner Saturday night.
Great to hear from you all! Lots of insightful comments.3 -
Today marks the start of Week 3.
Week 1: 19
Week 2:18 (wow I was expecting 14)
The positive: I mastered Friday and had 1 serving for Sunday dinner.
The negative: Only 1 less compared to week prior. While I drank less 6 days of the week, I blew it on Saturday. Analyzing what happened, did things I didn't normally do - exercised for 2 hours fasted, skipped breakfast , traveled to our favorite restaurant for lunch, and had wine -on an empty stomach- waiting for food. I then bought a regular size bottle of wine that night and drank 4 out of 5 servings in it, over the course of the afternoon and into the evening.
The take-away: eat breakfast, keep blood sugar in control, only drink with food4 -

I feel the same way with candy! With alcohol, I am generally drinking 11% wine now. 10% is great if I can find it. Anything over 11.5% tastes too strong and I have really developed an aversion to it. Maybe I will graduate to wine spritzers this week and can train my taste buds to prefer 6%2 -
Total calories from wine last week: 1,980! YIKES and I picked out the lowest calorie ones too...:(. It's gotta go!4

April week #1: 3 days out of 7 AF
April week #2 2 days out of 7 AF
Last week was a bit rough. Now the good news is that one of my two AF days was yesterday, so I did not get hammered on Sunday. The rest of it needs work. I didn't really try very hard this week if I'm being honest with myself.
The kind of crazy part is that I'm already rationalizing failure this week given that Easter is coming up. I know I'll be drinking on the weekend so going to try hard on AF until Thursday.
Goals:
4 days AF
Don't get hammered on Sunday6 -
Last night my husband and I had a talk and I finally heard him say what I've been saying for a while now...that WE drink too much. WE need to STOP. I needed to hear that, I've been fighting myself with that thought for months now. And now that we are on the same page I think is what I need to finally quit. It's to the point where I don't even want it in the house, the thought of drinking makes me sick. Today is the day. I'm starting that 10 days AF free thing I've seen some of you do. I'm going to check in every day on here! I havent used this app or this thread and hid from my mistakes, I need to hold myself accountable. I'm excited to see how much better I will feel. Drinking daily has given me so much anxiety these last few weeks.
Here we go.

@dawnbgethealthy Some of my favorite music!
@MissMay hey, that was me talking about have a cold one out back after work. Love how you've moved past that. I will too I use to do it almost every night.....dang when I think of where I was I can only shake my head. Still much work to be done though.
@Buffmom Way to go!!! You did it!!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It has inspired me and I have in the back of my mind to check out the AE. Some day
Better weekend...….didn't start out with a wine party! Haha. No family get togethers.
I did have our class get together Friday night though. I was driving so I did good. Planned on possibly one beer, had two pints instead. Still was good. I knew I had two beers waiting for me at home. Wine was calling me though because our club was trying to open again and doing just drinks. Asked my girlfriend if she wanted to stop and have one glass before we head home...….they were closed. Home we went. Got home, only one beer was left....ughh….ok...…...drank it. Sat there and pondered....a little drowsy, but just didn't feel ready for bed. With the one beer, I was 70 calories under my daily goal. GO TO BED YOU BIG DUMMY is what I could hear my self saying...…..but I couldn't do it...….could not move though that "one last" I had in the back of my mind. Had wine in the cabinet purchased for last weeks party.....huhh ohhh....yep...…….but only drank half the bottle! That was a great accomplishment. Off to bed I finally went at 1 am. Slept in. Felt good. Had a successful Saturday, went to dinner with hubby, one beer.
I feel my biggest success, no blackout drunk days and no hung over days. That is MY success.
Today, I just may try an AF night, just because I feel ready for it
Have a great day!
Teri
