I'm in. I'm going through a lot of changes. I recently ended a long term relationship and I'm starting a new job tomorrow. I want to start everything fresh and stay focused.
I'm from Upstate Ny.
My biggest challenge is going to be emotional eating and boredom since I'll be working from home now.4 -

I would like to be in this group, please count me in. I'm 56 and have a lot of excess weight still to lose. Was doing really good, but allowed personal issues to get in the way and stopped trying. I am determined that this is the year, that I finally reach my goal weight and it's the beginning of a whole new life for me.

I try to plan ahead. Bank some exercise calories. Prelog meals as much as possible. Then I know what I can eat when I get to the family dinner. I eat some chocolate most every day, so the candy won't be an issue.
And it's only one day. A day off program or exceeding calorie targets won't do any long term damage. It's those weeks or months of overeating that get me off track.

I've been completely incapacitated by Achilles Tendonitis for the past month. So painful I can barely walk. I've been battling this for over 9 months and I am so tired of it. I've gained about 4 lbs from just sitting and barely moving. It's so discouraging.
Does anyone else feel like they are at war with their own body? I want my body to be my friend. Why doesn't it like me?

I joined this past weekend. Got 35 pounds to lose. Exercise is no problem for me but food is another story. Could I join in?1

@tensquaredlives, so sorry you're dealing with this. I have rheumatoid arthritis (everywhere, pretty much), thyroid issues, plantar fasciitis, and know what you mean about being at war with your own body. I hope you can move past the discouragement. Are there any options for you for relief? Surgery, etc.?0

Here I am! Sorry to keep you waiting, lol! Starting again... at my heaviest I was at 275, briefly got down to 220 while getting ready for a half marathon. I finished the race - I wasn't the last person over the finish line, but I was entirely disappointed that all the beer was gone by the time I got there. The half killed my knees (arthritis) and that was apparently all the excuse I needed to gain back 30 pounds or so. Today I'm at 256... and for right now I would be thrilled to get back to that 220 mark. Once I get there, I'll set a new goal. I haven't been below 200 in probably 30 years so that would be a major accomplishment.
A week ago I started logging food again, planning meals, packing my lunch and getting back to the habits that worked before. One of those was checking in on these forums for some motivation, ideas, and yes, some commiserating. My next step is to get back to the gym on some kind of regular schedule and make good on that $10 a month I've been donating to Planet Fitness for the last year.10 -

What is the problem with food? Self control is key.
After you record a few weeks of meals in the MFP Diary, you can easily see what each food is doing to your daily calorie count and start to make small changes in your life.3 -

Welcome! Food is difficult isn’t it. It’s not about how much self control one has or the desire one has to do anything in life. Desires can fade but food is a need for each of us which makes it addictive to some and so on. Congratulations to starting your journey of change. We’re here to support and encourage you.

Hi there. Barb from Kentucky here. Restarting for the hundredth time. Will be 58 this year and really want to lose 30lbs before I turn 60. I remember saying the same thing before I turned 30. I'm sad to say that I have sat on the sideline my whole life because of this damn weight. I would like to finally start living fully before it's too late. Besides this thread I would love to have a couple of friends here to help with motivation. Thanks for listening and good luck to you all.5
