    confession: I haven't exercised for years. Always wanted to start and it never worked. Will start Walking, slow pace and try to walk for 30 min at least 5 days a week. Hope this will help me also lose weight.

    confession: I haven't exercised for years. Always wanted to start and it never worked. Will start walking slowly and try to walk for 30 min at least 5 days a week. Hope this will help me also lose weight.

    Hi @LolaLaylola!
    I highly recommend an easy goal at the beginning. Is 30 mins pretty easy for you? If not, consider two 11 minute “saunters” every day. Or one 22 minute easy walk daily.

    My doctor told me to walk daily. So I did. It becomes a daily habit, not a “if I feel like it.”

    Eventually you get to the point where you just do it automatically every day.

    I began where you are a little over 3 years ago, and just this weekend hiked 9.3 miles climbing a mountain. Hardest part was the downhill.

    Take it easy in the beginning, but walk daily! You’ll be amazed at where you end up & how blood pressure, lipids, and blood glucose all improve!!

    Thank you soooo much for sharing this great information. I just saw it after posting my update. My muscles were sore after walking for two days in a row ( I'm doing 40 minutes a day but do not count the first and last 5 minutes because I increase and decrease the speed slowly). I took a 2 day break and walked again today for 40 minutes and thought to take it easy and start walking 2-3 times a week. However after reading your comment you made rethink my decision and try to walk daily for shorter time and less incline. I'll try it tomorrow,

    You’re welcome! I can tell you’re in this for the long haul :)

    Also, I know it’s a personal preference, but every step we take is better than being sedentary, so I count that warm up time. I do turn off my timer when I stop, however. After I stop my heart rate takes a few minutes to lower again, so I figure that balances out the beginning :)

    Any movement is a Plus!

    I hate the treadmill! I can handle maybe 5 minutes before I lose my mind. I pretty much do anything else before I go on it.
