Round 7! My goals will be to walk at least 10,000 steps a day, drink at least 60 oz of water a day, and exercise when I have it scheduled on my calendar. I'm also going to start each round by updating my measurements. I've been wanting to do that for some time, but never seem to get around to it.
This is a busy time of year for me! We have our spring concert on the 23rd, the Memorial Day Parade on the 27th, a trip to Six Flags with the seniors on the 29th, and graduation on June 1st. I'll be happy with meeting my goals for this round. I will continue to weigh everyday, but it won't be my main focus.

Day/Weight/Comment
05/23 178.8 lb 19,482 steps, 50 oz of water, and I finally updated my measurements. I kept to two slices of pizza, mostly because the high schoolers ate the rest. Our spring concert is tonight! I might exercise this afternoon, but only if I get everything set-up for tonight by the end of the school day. I'll definitely be keeping my tradition of going out for beers afterwards. I think I'll be taking a half day tomorrow so I can get a jump start on cleaning my house and continuing to clean my yard for this weekend.
05/24 178.0 lb 27,251 steps, 54 oz of water, and several beers. The concert was great! The students always come together and create something magical. I did not get to exercise yesterday, but after conducting the concert, my Fitbit congratulated me on my "31 minute run". I'm planning on going to the gym and walking two miles with the dog this afternoon.
05/25 179.0 lb I got engaged today! 💖

05/28 DNW I've spent the last few days catching up with family and friends, which including drinking and eating more than usual, so I'm going to give myself a break on weighing in daily and get back in the habit on Saturday. I'll be walking the dog when I get home, I've refilled my water bottle once this morning, and I'm planning on doing an exercise DVD when I get home. Thank you all for the engagement congratulations. I'm so excited!
05/29 DNW We'll be at Six Flags all day with the seniors, we have the elementary school band concert tonight, and then we're going out for drinks. Busy busy!
05/30 DNW I'm feeling pretty dehydrated today. I only had about 20 oz of water and everything else was coffee, soda, or beer. I also ate unhealthy park food including bbq, pizza, and a funnel cake. At least I tracked 16,707 steps. I'll be drinking lots of water today, attempting to workout at home this afternoon, and then I need to go back to school for senior awards night. There will probably be drinks again tonight because my very favorite bar is located in the town I teach in.
05/31 DNW I'm tired! I only got 7053 steps yesterday. I missed the awards night after being stuck in traffic due to a boat that became unhitched from its truck and blocking four lanes of traffic. Graduation is tomorrow and then it's dinner at my fiance's parent's house.
06/01 182.0 lb Pretty pleased to see a relatively small gain! Yesterday I got 11,000 steps and had only 25 oz of water. We had a lovely outdoor graduation ceremony and I reached today's step goal by noon due to walking back and forth from the band room to the stadium. I'm looking forward to getting back on track and seeing you all in the next round!7 -

06/01 272.8 Not a good round, up +1.3, thats ok i am driven to get it right. I just had a family member survive a widow maker heart attack at age 55, I am 54, good grief Dale get this thing fixed.
@dlhollin1 Sending prayers to your family member age 55. So glad to hear the news.

@quiltingjaine Thanks for the prayers & thoughts. Often when "situations" come up within my family, I am the one called upon to assist. Because I work from home, it is often "perceived" that I am free to help & should be the one chosen. Sometimes I think my family & friends underestimate how time-consuming & difficult my job really is, running two small but well established and busy businesses with no employees but myself! Since my husband passed it has become harder & harder to coordinate my time and to accomplish what needs to be done. I do understand, however, that I can't get "fired" from my job if I leave to assist my family, and I don't have to ask for time off from a supervisor or manager. So I do what I can, when I can for whomever I can. Being away from home wreaks (did I spell that right?) havoc on my diet and exercise goals, but I continue to work on me every chance I get. I know my weak spot is being away from home (my safe zone). I will never give up on my goal to make my eating habits a permanent lifestyle, no matter where I am. Thanks for your continued support & for always "pulling for me". Your encouragement helps me back, even when I am sometimes completely lost. In regards to "elderly", I agree, it's a frame of mind. I will be 60 next year and if folks want to call me elderly, that's okay, as long as they are giving me my senior discount! LOL6

05/23 - 183.0 - Mini whoosh. Back to documenting my days here. Went back and read my blogs and the daily insights are really helpful. I've been back to morning protein smoothie and packing lunch. Lots of seasoned tuna packets on low carb wraps for ultimate ease and squashing excuses.
05/24 - 183.4 - Yesterday did not go as planned. Had to roll with the punches but ended up eating out at a burger joint so feeling a little salty today. Retail job is giving me a lot more steps than normal though. Got breakfast sandwich this morning because out of almond milk but chose an egg white and swiss on multigrain for 240 cals instead of higher cal options. Packed my lunch though! Final wedding dress fitting tonight and 5 lbs up since last visit so fingers crossed!!!

05/28 186.6 - No surprise there as I went off the rails this holiday weekend. I did lots of physical activity as well though, so back to the habits today and moving on! The dress fit beautifully! Must remain around at or below 183 by June 22. Feeling so tired today thanks to my terrible eating this weekend though.
05/29 188.0 - Yep, consequence of my actions this weekend still. Definitely didnt drink enough water yesterday either. I know what I need to do...it includes healthy eating habits AND healthy sleeping and self care habits. The binge definitely came in part due to exhaustion so working to balance things out a bit!
05/30 186.6 -Terrible day yesterday. Bad car diagnosis led to a very stressful day and eating takeout from the grocery store...Need to work on my coping skills.
05/31 185.8 - AND THE HITS KEEP COMING! Another bad day yesterday and today is competing for the title as well. Being more mindful today, starting water now - salad for lunch and grilled chicken on the menu for dinner. Trying my best to stay positive, because there is still LOTS to be grateful for despite the hardships. What doesn't kill us...
06/01 184.6. - Active day working, not the best choices though. And late night snack attack auuffhghh. Grocery shop and meal prep for tomorrow.5 -

UGW - somewhere in the mid-130's. Will see what's attainable when I get in the 130's
Goal for round 78 - would like to see another pound gone. Will be a challenging round with a holiday weekend and my TOM due to start during this one. I’m going to use this accountability thread to stay focused.
5/23 - 142.0. Shocked at the drop considering I ate at a restaurant for lunch and had a little bigger dinner than usual because friends were over. Wins: short weight lifting session and 2.5 mile walk. Made a good choice at a restaurant, I know those meals are full of sodium but calorie-wise it was low with lots of veggies. Need to work on water intake, still feel dehydrated this morning.
5/24 -142.0. Glad to see this number stick around another day! Wins yesterday: 5 miles walked and a gentle yoga class. Hydrated well after waking up feeling dehydrated. Went a little over calorie target but not by much. 3 day weekend ahead with lots of fun plans, I'm hoping I have the self-control to stay close to my calorie target each day and at least maintain this weight.
5/25 - 141.8. Liking this trend! TOM coming soon so enjoying it while it lasts 😊. Wins yesterday: weight lifting session, hydrated well, successfully avoided cake and pizza at a neighborhood party. I did have some fun snacks though so I was able to indulge a bit without going overboard - used up my calories on stuff I enjoy more.
5/26 - 142.9. Uugghhh!!!! I get so frustrated at this. We went to a cookout yesterday and I had a burger and some chips but stayed within a deficit, no alcohol and no dessert. I also did a really tough HIIT class and a 2.75 mile walk. I’m really hoping this is a combo of sodium/red meat and TOM coming this week and it will drop off later this week. I feel bloated today.
5/27 - 142.9 again. I really hope this is TOM bloating 😩. Took a bodycombat class and walked 3 miles, hydrated well. Went to the last of 3 parties for the weekend, friend’s birthday so I did have a small cheesecake serving (made in cupcake tins so it was small) but other than that food choices were good. No plans today thankfully so maybe I can lose some of this bloat??
5/28 - 142.2. Some of the bloat gone at least, would like to see a loss overall in this 10 day stretch so hopefully the rest drops soon. Wins yesterday: 4 mile run, 2.5 miles walked. Stayed within a deficit. Hydrated, but of course could do more to hydrate in this heat.
5/29 - 141.8. Wins yesterday: tough HIIT workout outdoors, 3 miles walked. Stayed within a deficit and hydrated fairly well. Had a laser treatment done yesterday and am not to get flushed or overheated today to combat swelling. That means I won't be very active. I need my calorie intake to be on point today.
5/30 - 141.1. I got on the scale twice to make sure that was right! With no exercise yesterday, and a little overindulgence with a cupcake, I assumed I'd go up or stay the same. I've hit my goal for this challenge which is exciting. I have a work luncheon I have to attend today, will try to make a good choice so I don't see this go up too much tomorrow.
5/31 - 140.9. Shocked at another small drop as I ate out for lunch and it was heavier than my usual meals. Wins: RPM class and 2.5 mile walk. Ate a lighter dinner due to the big lunch. Did not drink enough water, will work on that today.
6/1 -140.4. Not expecting that! Had a larger dinner at a school fundraiser. Wins - short interval run, hydrated well. So happy with how well this round went, I exceeded my own expectations. Down 2 lbs7 -

Day/Weight/Comment
05/23 147.3 Great start for this challenge; 0.5 drop from the end of the last challenge!!! So far this week have not seen the typical one pound increase/plateau but have been keeping carbs more stable lately. Have a relatively low carb day dinner planned (spinach/arugula with quinoa salad and grilled arctic char) so seeing if that might help with the usual bump that seems to occur each week! (also saved enough calories to enjoy a glass of wine and stay within target). Did weight circuit (legs) at the gym and then 45 minute step class - good workout! When I went to bathroom, saw what looked like small pea size blood clots, but urine looked OK otherwise. (I have been in menopause since I was 45 so not period related!) Checked it out with PCP this afternoon and no microscopic blood in urine, so supposed to check back if it re-occurs. Mystery for now, but she thought it could be exercise related or perhaps ibuprofen as had been taking as lower back was a little sore still.
05/24 147.4 small bump up, but typical. At least not the 1 lb bumps that I have seen previously. Went to gym this morning for flexibility/strength class and then spin for 45 minutes. Noticed that sweat smelled like ammonia (yuck) and did not have the same energy level for my workout. only had a cappuccino this am before working out (forgot to make overnight oats with yogurt and had to leave early so skipped even the yogurt) so likely burning protein and low on glucose. Yesterday was also lower carbs than usual so need to watch that I get enough healthy carbs relative to protein/fat to avoid this. Finished up at the gym with some walking on the track to cool down and then did my arm weight machine circuit as will be out of town Sat/Sun/Monday. While I felt I had plenty of energy for the arm circuit, having a three day rest away from the gym for the holiday weekend is probably a good break!
05/25 DNW out of town no scale/no gym so going to eat at maintenance level
05/26 DNW " "
05/27 DNW " "
05/28 145.8 Highly pleased when scale this morning read 145.8, a drop of 1.6 pounds from the last weigh in!!! (Although I won't be surprised if it goes up tomorrow!). Limited exercise while on vacation - just walking in town/beach and did some core body exercises each night. Tried to make good food decisions when eating out, although did have more wine than normal. Highlight was going through closet to find beach clothes and trying on the large linen pants from last year and finding that they were too big, and that the medium ones looked great! (getting close to halfway). Still need a large top as bust size as not changed as much as hips. Worked out at the gym this am - did leg weight machine regime and latin dance class, and may go back this evening for pilates for more stretching/core work.
05/29 147.2 Well not at all surprised that the 1.6 pound drop vanished overnight, as this does tend to happen after a big "whoosh" and I had a good run of 9 days without a big increase! Likely combination of the cardio/weight training (legs yesterday) and pasta for dinner, so expect that a lot of this is water, and hopefully will drop back down over the week (usual pattern). At least I felt well fueled for the spin class this morning and then upper body weight routine!!! Increased the weight for the chest press and some of the other exercises so feeling stronger. Have an appointment with nutritionist late this afternoon for monthly check in/tweak of diet. So far have lost 4.6 pounds this month, so slower pace than last month. Hopefully will end the month with a 5 pound loss!
05/30 145.8 Yeah!!!!! Back to 145.8 this morning, even with an extra glass of wine last night ! I was still at calorie goal, but probably need to not add the extra glass on a regular basis, as that was one of the reasons I got to my peak weight ! Should meet macros today so interested to see how the usual carb load (e.g. not the higher pasta carb load of Tuesday) combined with weight training (legs) and step aerobics plays out with water retention tomorrow, as exercise level today was comparable to Tuesday. Would be happy to try to tweak macros to reduce the big bumps up primarily for the psychological boost of seeing stability or drops, rather than increases :-) Of course if that were possible, I am sure that info would be more widespread and we would not be talking about nonlinear weight loss! In any case happy to see the drop!
05/31 147.0 Bummer - well weight back up again, but hard work out yesterday with weights and step aerobics so still hope it is due to water retention! Quads still a bit sore from the leg press yesterday (up to 195lb!) but loosened up after the spin class. Need to look back at diary to see if there are more of these up ticks after the serious leg regime. Did upper body weight training and so far no soreness, so probably can increase weight there. In any case, looking forward to some "rest" days over the weekend! I am under calorie budget so far and expect to end the day within my goal. Dinner out tonight with sashimi and sushi, so not sure how accurate my entries are. In any case the scale is the great equalizer between errors in reported calories in and errors in exercise calories burned, so will just have to see what tomorrow brings!
06/01 146.1 Yeah!!!! weight dropped by almost a pound! I had put into my calendar one of the MFP "5 week predictions" which forecast 147 as the weight tomorrow, and almost a pound under right now!!!! As a feature request it would be nice if the app could also remind us if when it over-predicted - that would be a real mental boost for success! Did tabata/cardio in the morning and then abs and a HIIT elliptical routine at home later. Definitely will do more of the HIITs now that I figured out a way to program it on my phone with music as calorie burn was much higher for the time spent! Quads feeling the workouts, so tomorrow will definitely be a rest day. Well I still need to be active as I joined a June Apple Watch Challenge - go team #TourdeFat - so want to make sure that I at least close all the rings :-) Feeling a bit bloated as i tried the sirataki vegetarian pho noodles for lunch so adjusting to the fiber in them and hope that doesn't cause a blip in weight tomorrow! Dinner was back to lowish carb - grilled big eye tuna with a ginger/soy sauce/dark sesame oil marinade and then a salad with cucumber, scallions, mandarin oranges and spring greens from the farmer's market, and at the end of day total was under goal and macros where they should be. The next 10 day challenge will be a real challenge as I will be out of town for almost half of it, but hope to report in when possible. Not sure if I am being too compulsive about tracking, but seriously wondering if I should take the scale with me as there will be room.
Thanks everyone for the support this time around!

ROUND 78 (Round 20 for me)
5’4 ½” 67 y/o Texas Lady
SW 178 lb.
Goal: Maintain between 135 and 140 lb. and increase muscle mass
I started Round 54 and Keto WOE on September 24, 2018.
Cumulative weight loss for Rounds 54-70 = 44 lb.
I started and finished the last round below my maintenance range. I like the keto WOE and, mostly, stick to that, but I add extra carbs when I’m under 135.
Day/Weight/Comment
05/23 134.4 Ten days go by so quickly! Yesterday, I did a 3.5 mile walk with my dog, Thor, in the morning and strength training in the afternoon. Today was a rest day, and I played Canasta with friends. My shoulders were sore today, so I’m glad it was a rest day.
05/24 134.2 Thor and I walked about 3.5 miles today. We jogged about a half mile of it, only up-hill and flat areas—no down-hill. My knee isn’t bothering me now, the orthotics have relieved the Morton’s Neuroma problem in my toes, and I’m pretty sure I can work up to running again. I miss running 5K and 10K races. I’m sticking with the strength training, too, and that helps my knees.
05/25 132.6 Part of this drop is because we didn’t get to bed until 3 a.m., and I didn’t get up until almost 11:30! A late start makes for a short day. Tonight, I don’t plan to stay up that late. I haven’t don’t today’s cardio workout in my strength training program, so I’m about to do that. Tomorrow morning, I leave early to sing, with our gospel group, at a church in the area, so I’ll miss my own church service. Since I lead the singing at my church, I try not to miss very often. My sweet husband will take over tomorrow, but he’d rather just play his guitar and let me lead.
05/26 134.6 I intended to go to bed early last night, but it was after 2 a.m., and up again at 6:30. (sigh) That always results in a higher scale number, but it’s still under maintenance, and I had a good day. The morning concert went well, and I took a nap before working in the yard. I didn’t get my strength training in, but tomorrow’s another day.
Before dark yesterday, my husband brought Thor in and said Thor had alerted on a rattlesnake in the yard. My husband said he’d take care of it, so I continued with my cardio workout. A few minutes later, DH knocked on the back door and again on the front door before I could get to either, so I went out to look for him. I grabbed a hoe and heard the snake in the front yard before my husband showed up with a spade. Well, the rattlesnake waited for me to go back in the house and get my revolver loaded with snake shot, and I ended his threat to our tranquility. What I didn’t realize until later was that I was in the front yard, shooting a snake, while only wearing short shorts and a bra. Fortunately, we live in the country, and it’s possible only my husband saw me. Praise God, all is well.
05/27 133.8 I said I was skipping my strength training workout last night, but, at 1 a.m., I just had to do it. This morning, 11 a.m., I completed my cardio and stretching workout. So, I’m still on track with my strength training program. I’m afraid if I give myself a break, I won’t stop with just one. That’s how I gained back the 40 pounds I had to lose again! I want to think I’ve learned my lesson. Time will tell. No walk for Thor this morning, since I was up until 4 a.m. and didn’t get out of bed this morning before it got too hot to take him for a long walk. I will do better tomorrow morning.
05/28 135 Thor and I got a walk and some jogging in yesterday, but it was a busy day/evening. It was after midnight before I finished my Bible study, so I put off posting the study and my weight.
05/29 133.8 I started the day with my strength training, delivered meals on wheels, then took my car in to repair a leaky tire. It seems I ran over a screw. The tire shop was close to a Home Depot, so I walked over and bought a rug so my shoes don’t slip on some of the exercises I’m doing. Today was the first day of my third week doing the Chalean Extreme strength training program. It’s not easy, but I already feeling stronger. Chalene Johnson teaches how to exercise (including squats and lunges) without hurting my knees. I appreciate that. About 10 years ago, I had to quit a boxercise class because I wasn’t taught that lesson, and my knees were killing me.
05/30 134.4 I didn’t weigh this morning, because the electricity went out during the morning storm, and there wasn’t enough light to read the scale. I played cards with friends, had lunch, ran errands, took a nap, then decided to step on the scale. Now, it’s after midnight, so I need to get to bed so I can take Thor for an early walk before it gets too hot.
05/31 134 I had a short night—rose early to take Thor for our walk/jog. I’m gradually increasing our jogging time. Still no knee or toe pain! I completed my strength training session, too. I hadn't checked my ketone level lately, since I've allowed myself a few more carbs lately, but I decided to check, and I was still in the burn range at 0.6 mmol/L. Listening to the radio this morning, I heard a reference to a pit bull attack a few years ago on a 65 yr. old, “elderly” woman. I’m 67, but I’m not elderly! I have an active friend who's 85, still jogs, and she's not elderly, either! Some of us "mature" folks are more fit and can do more than a lot of teenagers. It's fun to surprise them.
06/01 132.2 My weight reflects a full night of sleep. As usual, I went to bed late, but slept until 10:40. I enjoyed my Saturday—nice breakfast, cardio workout, mowed the lawn, and my husband did maintenance on the tractor and outlined the pasture for me so I can mow the pasture this week, if it doesn’t rain first. We’re blessed!

@deepwoodslady Donna, I think I ❤️ you. I know that you will succeed. Keep your eye on the prize and don’t let folks take advantage of your kind heart. 🤗 {{{HUGS}}} 🤗 (Amen on the senior discount!)
@StatChicBayes Some people might say I’m obsessed with the scale but when we last made a cross country car trip, the scale went with us. I just wish I could take it when we fly. I worry about it being broken in the rough handling of luggage and restricted weight limits . . . Glad DD#1 has the same scale in OK.2 -

SW 135.8
GW 133
UGW 125
5/23 135.8 9/31 accomplished holding steady I guess
5/24 135.8 x day. My brothers birthday so I indulged in some cake. 9/31 accomplished, still holding steady
5/25 137.6 10/31 accomplished a slight gain from yesterday's indulgence. I will see what my weight says tomorrow but it is a little concerning. I have been doing 16/8 fasting (so far straight with no breaks) and I hope this isn't a foreshadowing of weight gain from not sticking the course
5/26 137 11/31 accomplished a slight drop, that's good. Completed week two of my fast. So far so good I am watching my micro/macros as well as my calories I just hope I see some better results come week three. I am switching up my fast for this week because I had my mother complain over the weekend about my 24 hour fast on Sundays, considering the past two Sundays have been family dinners. I found another one that is more flexible for weekends but will probably switch back if there are no plans. Is anyone else fasting? Do you use apps? I am using body fast app and was wondering if paying for the couch would be a good idea, does anyone here use that app? Does anyone have any stories to share about their own fasting experiences...
5/27 136.8 11/31 another x, i am afraid. So my brothers birthday dinner carried on until tonight and I couldn't help myself. I know I promised only 3 days of cheating but I am going to have to add a fourth. That s life
5/28137.6 12/31 accomplished a slight gain from yesterday that is ok though, i am determined to re drop back to the weight i was at the starting of these 10 days.
5/29 138.6 accomplished 13/31. There is the gain from Monday's cake.
5/30137.2 14/31 accomplished a big drop... Which is nice to see
5/31 136.8 another x which is 5 total...more than I wanted by still not too bad for a month. I had a super hungry day and was kind of down because of the effort and work I have been putting into dieting and exercising....Plus the fast and not seeing the results I was expecting. I really had high hopes for this set of 10 days and it seems like my weight just likes it here and doesn't want to move. It is starting to get on my nerves a bit because at least before I could blame it on me not being diligent or working for it....but now that I am being strict with myself I can't find an issue to fix for my constant 3 pound yo-yoing. I guess my body likes it here and just wants to straddle this weight a bit longer..I hope the next 10 days brings a better drop. Plateauing sucks!
6/1 138.8 yikes. I am starting to realize what I am doing wrong and I had a serious look at what is causing my weight fluctuations. Since the 13th I have had 6 days of not sticking to it...which is practically a whole week of eating freely out of the last 20 days. This is not good and it's obvious my yo-yoing is caused by me loosing weight, regaining a couple of pounds and then having to re loose that weight, just to have another cheat meal day. I know for some of you readers this may have been as clear as day and I probably annoyed some readers by being oblivious but I did need this experiment to really microscope the issue. A little background information for you, I live/am around 5 20-something year old boys who non stop eat everyday. They don't gain weight and snacks, ordering out etc. Is constant. So while I am trying to stick the course, this is constantly around me. I am not justifying the issues I am having (I can walk away or find something to do when my trigger senses go off) I am just simply explaining that food wise, my weeks feel longer then they are and the cheat meals not as often as they really are.....Just simply because of what I am constantly being exposed too. I recently joined an MFP group called UAC and I am hoping this will keep me on track. Given that it begins at the beginning of the month, I am going to attempt this non stop dieting experiment all over again. *sigh* For positive spin on things, at least I am not giving up. I am forgiving myself and moving on....again. I realized that is how life goes and this isn't a race, this is a lifestyle.3 -

You have done very well and been very consistent for a long time. UAC is tough but very helpful with consistency and that is what works.3 -
